I brought my car in 10/19/2009 for the routine maintance. I needed a timing belt change. They also stated I needed the spark plugs in the fire wall changed and checked the coolant. I brought it in on a Monday evening. The work was to be completed on Tuesday evening. I called Tue eve and they stated they did not have the correct tool and had to purchase it delaying the repair.Tue No car but worked continually on it.. I called @ 3pm Wednesday. They promiced it would be done by 5 or they would call.By 5 no car and NO call. I did get my car Thursday afternoon . I drove it to the Dr. Fri. and immediately noticed I had a roaring lion that could not stay running on a incline. The check engine light came on immediately and the air conditioner did not work . I returned it to them( because I had already pd the bill in full) and they stated they would fix it quickly. Friday night they iformed me it would not be a ""quick"" fix and our vacation needed to be canceled. At no time did they offer me alternate transportation ( other that to thier shop) and when I asked for a car to use stated they had nothing to offer. I learned Friday that they had installed the timing belt without aligning it. Saturday they stated they worked all day and could not repair it and would be taking sunday off. Monday afternoon I had a friend drive me to the shop and bypassed the front desk and spoke directly to the mechanic working on my car. He had been the only mechanic working on it all week he stated. He was very frustrated with my car. When I asked him if he had ever installed a timing belt before he laughed and said, I only installed one before this and never on a foreign car.I do not know what is wrong or how to fix it. I do not know what I am doing.""I proceeded to the office to speak to the owners son who laughed at me and told me I did not understand. The mechanic and I both spoke english. Although it does not appear to be the owners/sons primary language it is mine. I understand it. I said,""O.K. lets go and speak to the mechanic. We went out and the mechanic repeated the statement infront of him. The owner later told me the mechanic misspoke,he had installed several and told me this just to get back at the owner for making him work on his day off. He told me he was firing the employee for upsetting me. I demanded they stop work and have my car towed to the Kia dealer as they had no clue what they were doing. They consented and even told the Kia dealer they had it on the truck and were towing it. When it never showed up at Kia we started calling around. Soon my car drove up in the driveway and the Upper Valley Automotive Man/owner appeared with my key and a multitude of stories of which I have learned not to believe. Against my will they did further work on my car and somehow in 2 hours they seemed to complete what they could not do in 6 days.Car returned to my house by owner, engine and break light on,driven almost 100 miles,Kia stated timing belt improperly installed and assessing engine damage. They should not consent to/ perform work they are not qualified or knowledgable to perform. I did not want to give them any stars in this review but you cannot publish without any stars.
