Best

The crickets are actually pretty tasty. Fun place to eat for sure!

Worst

I used to think that it was amusing with decent food. Now, I find it tiresome with mediocre food, served with no enthusiasm whatsoever.

My sunset drink spot 9/17/2008

Great spot to watch the planes during sunset with a drink in hand. The bar serves the yummiest mixed drinks; I'm a huge fan of their Mojito's. The frog legs are to die for and taste like mini chicken. The Mongolian beef is wonderfully delicious with the fresh steamy bread. The servers are great and started recognizing us after our 2nd meal there. And who doesn't love those creepy crawly critters? Pros: The bar and location Cons: Busy on weekends more

Horrible, horrible, horrible........... 4/19/2008

We heard some ""good"" things about this place and wanted to check it out ourselves. Well, the wait was quick and that was the ONLY good part. The service was HORRIBLE, the waiter put his entire sleeve into my wife?s dinner while reaching across the table to pour water and almost knocked her in the head while doing so. The food was just okay, for what?s on the menu your better off going to a Thai restaurant then wasting your money at this place. They NEVER asked us if we wanted another drink and they cleaned our plate before we were even finished. It took me so long to finish my Thai chicken because all they gave me were chopsticks to eat with. How does one eat an entire half of a chicken still on the bone with chopsticks? We left a bad tip to reflect on our experience and ended up going to NOMA on Wilshire for better food and service. We will never go back and I HIGHLY don't recommend this place. more

So So Food Times Bad Service 1/11/2008

After many visits with many friends, this place managed to ruin my wife's 40th birthday party with warm beer, bad service and no cake and candles after many hints to the server... we tried to over look many of the short comings on my many visits because my friends love to watch the planes landing and taking off...it couldn't have been from us not leaving a good tip we always left 40 per cent... so I tell my friends who like to watch planes take off and landing to go to In and Out Burger near LAX. The food is just so so. Pros: I Can't Think Of Any Cons: Read My Review more

Great menu & food, great atmosphere 9/27/2007

It's been over a year since my last visit to Typhoon, so tonight it was time to head back. The service tonight was excellent and the food never fails to impress. I've always enjoyed the eclectic menu as well as the atmosphere at Typhoon. Pros: Menu/Food Cons: Costs a bit more than some other asian fusion, but you're not just paying for the food more

I've always enjoyed the eclectic menu as well as the atmosphere at Typhoon. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. If it's been a while since you've dined at Typhoon or if you had concerns about the service in the past, it's time to head back. Though it's been a while since my last visit, I plan to head back more often. Pros: Menu/Food Cons: Costs a bit more than some other asian fusion, but you're not just paying for the food more

I went with my friend on Saturday, around 9.30pm, no crowd, the view is cool, in front of the airport! I got Pad Thai chicken and crickets with asian basil and garlic...DELICIOUS! The staff was really nice and I had very good time! Can't wait to come back and try some other insect! By the way, I'm Italian and I know about good food! ;-) Pros: The crickets are delicious! Cons: Nothing more

Unique Place for Unique Food 7/5/2007

You are at an airport eating insects...sound crazy! Typhoon bring great Thai food to unusual dishes like whole fish pates, insects, and water animals. The airport setting is a bonus and parking is easyand free! The food is not that much and the service is great. more

Interesting foods, wide variety of Asian dishes. 5/14/2007

We went there this past Friday and had reservations for 9:00. Incredibly crowded when we arrived and took us about half an hour to be seated. Waiter took our initial drink order and then disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Luckily another hostess delivered our drinks. Then the waiter shows up again with a duplicate order of our drinks thinking that we hadn't gotten them initialy. Luckily more drinks are good and I can understand snafu's happen when it's that crowded. Ordered there chicken adobo, mongolian beef, green curry and pad thai and most of the food was pretty good. After coming back from Thailand recently Typhoon's pad thai and curry just didn't do it for me, but everyone else liked it. It's a good place to go for decent and eclectic food; didn't try the insects this time but did have them in the past and they were good. Good place to take a date to watch the planes take off from the runway or for a happy hour with co workers. Pros: Pretty good and plentiful food, prices not too bad,, good view of SM airport's runway. Cons: Can get rather crowded and noisy and service can be spotty at times when crowded. more

Not so great 11/21/2006

Featuring pan-asian food from practically everywhere, one has to wonder with so much selection, how can they be good at them all? The answer is that they're not. I've been here a few times and much prefer the sushi place upstairs if I'm going to bother coming all the way out to an airport for food. more

Great place to go with a big group 11/18/2006

Beautiful restaurant and nice views of the airport and sunset. Went with a huge group so ordered tons of different dishes, almost all of them were excellent. Unfortunately no one but me was up for trying the insects, so I can't tell you how those dishes are. But I was very impressed with the quality of the food and will be back! more

great nasi goreng 11/9/2006

hard to believe a place that has great indonesian, thai, korean, and chinese food! We always get the mongolian beef with sesame buns and nasi goreng. plus they have nice wines by the glass and an amazing view of the santa monica airport. can get very crowded on weekends but if the bar stools in front of the kitchen are open, take 'em! You'll get to see an entire catfish battered and fried plus 5 woks going at once! more
