Great Italian at very reasonable prices. A friend and I dined here and split one platter as well as a bottle of wine and we left with money in our pockets as well as leftovers! C...

I went to Carmine's in NYC recently, and honestly, was treated like SH*T. We made reservations ahead of time. I asked if the restaurant was child friendly, which I was told, of co...

Great Family Style Eating Experience! 9/20/2005

I love to go to Tony's di Napoli with a group of friends. The portions are huge and the prices are low. It's fun to share the great food among a group of people. All in all, it is a great family style eating experience! The salads are great, and I particularly like the eggplant! more

Loud & family style 8/31/2005

It's a pretty loud and crowded family style Italian place. I recommend having reservations as this place is pretty much always crowded. I would also recommend coming here with at least four people so you can order a few dishes and share. If you only go with two people, one dish is too much food yet not enough variety. The Bellini's are fantastic and the sangria is pretty good too. There's a giagantic brownie sundae which is great served warm; if of course you still have room! more

A true Italian experience! 8/13/2005

I always like to go to Tony's. This is an Upper East Side favorite. Huge servings for 2 or 3 people. Especially recommended is Tony's chicken which comes with fresh vine tomatoes with onion and basil, and also Chicken parmigiana. The selection of dishes is quite large and they all taste good. Try their White Sangria - a light alcoholic sweetend drink with small pieces on fruit in it. more

Family style Italian restaurant 8/2/2005

Family style Italian restaurant. Lively happy atmosphere, sometimes a bit noisy. Best for groups when you are celebrating birthdays or graduations. For big groups, use the separate party room with special menu that serve bigger portions than in the dining room. Caveat - in the party room there is an enforced time limit and your party may be rushed through the meal. Seating can be crowded if there are a lot in your party. Most dishes are prepared well. Shrimp scampi, calamari are excellent. Zucchini fritti is very lightly fried, a delicious vegetarian appetizer. Spaghetti is uninspired, ravioli is better. Chicken or veal francese is excellent as is chicken scarpiello - though it takes a long time to prepare. Service is okay - when it is busy, it is hard to catch the waiter and there may be long waits between dishes. There's a tendency to rush you through the meal - ignore them and take your time. more
