Probably the worst Japanese dining experience in the area. If you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant, run away from this place. Sushi Masa at the corner of 14 and Pelham...

Awesome Sushi 5/27/2010

This is the best Japanese Restaurant in the Greenville area! The food and the presentation is good. They also have some jewery for sale so after you eat you can shop for beautiful accessories. more

Best Sushi in te Upstate! 1/19/2010

I've been visiting Yu Raku Tei for the past three years and have not found another that compares! Whether it be Tampa, Charlotte, Atlanta, or Greenville, this is the Best! My favorites are the Spider, Crunchy Spicy Tuna, Volcano and Philly. If you have never been there, please try it, you won't be disappointed! more

Best Sushi I've Had in Greenville! 12/17/2009

I am from CA, which has great sushi. Yu Raku Tei is definitely the best sushi I've found in the Southeast so far. The food is great, the place is very CLEAN, and the service is excellent. more

Excellent sushi and a la carte 10/3/2009

Good: Every sushi item is prepared right in front of your eyes, unless you decide to go with a delicious fried item, in which case they ACTUALLY deep fry it to order. It comes out so hot and crispy that most times you have to wait for it to cool before you can bite into it!. Bad: The only thing I find distasteful is some of the menu items being somewhat bland in appearance, but the taste is always 100%. Improvements: Possibly adding more Japanese wines and drinks to the menu and making more 'home' to Japan dishes.. Other: I never had a problem with the food or service. I work less than 5 minutes down the road and eat here constantly. It is a must visit for first timers in town or people who have never tried a good Japanese restaurant.. more

Yummy 5/13/2009

This restaurant has the best customer service in the area. The owner knows my name even before I start to order, she is always friendly and has something nice to say. She even worries if she doesn't see me in a while. She is the best and other restaurants should take a lesson in customer service from her. As for the man who said her food tastes "like dog Food" he is very rude I was there picking up my dinner and he tried to convince me to leave. The food is always delicious, and the customer service is great I would eat there everyday if I could. more

Best Sushi 5/9/2009

Yu Raku Tei has very good sushi!!!!^_^ more

Ignor "Eat Here at You're Own Risk"!! 5/9/2009

I have personally eaten at Yu Raku Tei more times that I can count. And I have had their Spider Roll(or crab roll as this guy calls it) more times than I can count. And it has NEVER tasted bad! Ever! I hear that, not only did this guy harass the owner (whom I also know and consider a friend) he also stiffed that poor waitress. That isn't right! It's not the waitresses fault this guy has messed up taste buds! Trust me people. Yu Raki Tei is the BEST sushi joint I have ever been to. If you're looking for good service and good quality food that tastes great, come here! I give Yu Raku Tei a 10 out of 10! This guy must be delusional! Yu Raku Tei is the best! more

In defense of Yu Raku Tei 5/1/2009

I have known the owners for 22 years and personally attest to the fact that they use only the best quality ingredients in all their food. Whether you order the sensational Volcano roll, the delicious Barbequed eel roll, Peter's legendary Boneless Chicken (all my persoanl favorites) or one of the myriad of others dishes available, you will not be disappointed with the fine quality and freshness of your food. To the gentleman who suggested the food tastes like "dog food": you have a lot of audacity to do what you did; if your complaint was legitimate, you should have brought it to someone's attention before you you had nearly finished the entire meal; you should be ashamed of yourself; I truly hope you never do return-as a patron of Yu Raku Tei, I do not want to see you there. more

Great Food, Great Service, Great Value 4/23/2009

My travels have taken me to much of the North America, and some locations of Asia. If you want great sushi, prepared in a very relaxed atmosphere, look no further. The food, service, and price are outstanding. more

Apology: Eat Here At Your Own Risk 4/23/2009

I must apologize to the owner and staff at Yu Raku Tei. I know personally the gentleman who left the “Eat Here At Your Own Risk” commentary. Unfortunately, this person makes a weekly visit to some unsuspecting restaurant (usually a foreign restaurant), orders large amounts of food, eats 90% of the food, claims the food is deficient in someway, and demands a refund. I heard about this recent exploit the next day at work and how furious D.M. was due to the fact he had to pay his bill. Anyone reading the afore mentioned review, please disregard. My wife and I have visited the restaurant many times, and always enjoyed our dinner. more

can't say enough GOOD things @ them!!! 4/23/2009

I cannot say enough good things about all(many) visits I have made to Yu Raku Tei since their opening. My sister was the 1st to ck it out and raved @ it. she persistly tried to persuade me, the non-sushi person to at least try it . . . well I went,I let her do all the ordering and boy oh boy was I missing out. . . The crabstick cucumber salad, lettuce wrappers and even the California Sundae pleased my anti-sushi palate. . . I turn everyone I can onto these delicious dishes every chance I get. I even have a friend across town that will join me for lunch and order the same to go for dinner that night. I absoultely love this restaurant so much that I scored a 100.00 gift certificate for Christmas, and also had my birthday candle perched in my order of sushi in lieu of the traditional birthday cake. Everyone should try this restaurant for a meal big on flavor!!!! more

Ignore: Eat here at your own risk! 4/22/2009

I was there the night this happened. And sadly I see this guy made good on his threat. But $60 dollars wasted? HA! He didn't pay for his meal nor did he even tip the poor waitress. But rather stormed out returning shortly with a rambling but darkly threating letter about "dog food", he threw at the cashier, owner and anyone else he could accost. He made no effort to correct the situation--only make a big show to intimidate an already bewildered owner which he had by now in tears. It was pretty low on his part: strictly postal, this one. But hey a free meal, some cheap entertainment--what's not to like? Another South Carolina low-rent behaving badly. This is a great little "neighborhood Sushi bar"--in Mauldin, SC no less! The fish is fresh, the food is well prepared, the menu is honest if a tad over extended and the premise is always immaculately clean as are the dishes, silverware, glasses, etc. 3 stars. Oh please, this ain't San Fran or NYC--it's Mauldin, SC. And, I, for one, am elated to have sucha place just down the street and around the corner that, I can go to weekly for some beers, dead fish and not spend over $50 for the wife and myself. Dog food, indeed. more

Eat Here At Your Own Risk!!! 4/17/2009

Probably the worst Japanese dining experience in the area. If you are looking for a good Japanese restaurant, run away from this place. Sushi Masa at the corner of 14 and Pelham or Irushai on Wade Hampton are both infinitely better options. I'm not sure how dog food actually tastes, but the fare of this place must come close. To say that the management is not customer oriented is really too kind. This dinner was $60 wasted. more

Best In Town! 2/23/2009

I've been a regular at Yu Raku Tei ever since a friend introduced the place to me. Every visit has been wonderful. The sushi is hands down the freshest I've ever had in Greenville. I would highly recommend it to any and everyone! more

Yu Raku Tei Hater Is An Idiot 2/1/2009

I go to Yu Raku Tei all the time and have never once had a bad experience. The staff is extremely professional and the food is excellent, I would even dare to say it is one of the best places in town to eat. They make sure that every sushi dish is both yummy and beautiful. The owner is also very friendly and makes sure to make your visit as pleasant as possible. I adore this place and know that anyone else who goes there will surely feel the same. Please ignore the ONLY bad review on this site about Yu Raku Tei, this woman is clearly delusional and is probably suffering from some mental problems. 5 stars. more

The Spider Roll and L.C. Roll is a MUST for Sushi Lovers! 11/30/2008

I've tried MANY sushi places in the Greenville area ... this one is at the top of the list for quality and service! more

Yummy! 11/4/2008

The california roll was great, the sushi dinner (chef's choice) was excellent and the roll with 7 different kinds of raw fish was also excellent. We will return! more

Best Sushi in town!!! 10/17/2008

I go to Yu Raku Tei whenever I want sushi. It is the best in town. They have lots of creative rolls and they are very fast. Always had a great experience whenever i go. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants quality sushi. more

Sushi is first-rate! 9/14/2008

I love sushi, and Yu Raku Tei has surpassed my other favorite sushi places! The roll special is a great deal--three rolls for $14.95. I love the spicy tuna, eel, and yellow tail. They also have excellent unagi donburi, dynamite mix, and chirashizushi. I haven't enjoyed the Chinese food there, and my husband didn't like the hibachi or teriyaki, so I can't recommend those dishes. The owner is nice, but she seems to have a hard time finding good help. Most of the servers are young and immature. more

Awful, owner rude, staff unprofessional 10/27/2007

My husband purchased a Greenville SC Entertainment book and I have wanted to try this place for a long time, so we took our coupon and went here. They didn't refill our drinks for a long time, they brought me sushi that was falling apart, not wrapped tightly, with hard avacado. I ordered steak hibachi and it came out tough as a saddle. My husband had to dip his shrimp in soy sauce. He never uses soy sauce but he said they were bland. Then an employee berated another server in front of us making me very uncomfortable. When I brought this to the owners attention she mocked me and said "I will just fire her" I said that was not my intention and she said she would fire her "that would make you happy" I was not rude or obnoxious i just said that the situation made me uncomfortable. Very rude condescending owner. I will never return. more
