I had my son in Tilley Time over a year and a half ago. He was only there for about 5 months. The first couple months I did not see any major problems. Until I switched my schedule to an early morning schedule. A couple things happened. First i started noticing how lazy the staff was. I would pickup my son who was only 1 1/2 years old and he would have snot glued to his face. Dried and you can tell his face had not been wiped in hours. They would lose his clothes, shoes, diapers, wipes. I would always bring extra diapers everyday. And if any parents were out of diapers i gave permission to allow them to use my diapers if needed. I got accused of not bringing diapers for my son and being charged $5.00 a diaper for the center using theres. when they were using mine. My son had multiple times that he had sunburns from being outside and I did put sunscreen on in the morning as they directed. But was not allowed to leave the teachers with sunscreen for throughout the day, which i thought was bullcrap because sunscreen does not last allday. So when my son went out later he had no sunscreen on, it had worn off. On top of it when I started bringing my son on saturdays and sundays. I noticed the daycare teacher was sleeping most the time when I dropped my son off at 5:30 in the morning. Now I understand that most kids would be sleeping at that time. But she was being paid to take care of our children,, not to sleep. She should have always been awake. It always made me nervous because they are right on that main street and a kid could just walk out the door without her noticing it because she certainly would not wake up when i dropped my kid off. It only took a few weeks of that before i got fed up. The final draw was when i picked up my son and was getting ready to walk out the building i noticed he had something in his mouth and i knew he was too young to have hard candy, so i put my finger in his mouth a pried out a rock the size of a quarter. The director was not there. So i talked to her about it the next day. She said that kids will be kids. That they dont have that much control over what they do when they are outside. That If i didnt notice it till i was getting ready to walk out that the teacher probably didnt notice it either. I could not believe it !!!! not even an apology, that it will never happen again!!!! That was it!!! I gave my 2 week notice and found a wonderful day care that my child has been at for a year and a half and is going to stay until he is in kindergarten called Puddle Jumpers. If you want your child to be happy and safe DO NOT put them in Tilley Time, take them to Puddle Jumpers. Tilley Time may be cheap but thats exactly what you get. Cheap daycare and low standards, neglectful teachers and uncaring staff.
Pros: Cheap
Cons: Neglectful staff, Director dismisses parents
