I have been going to Dr Swonke for over 2 years. He is one of the most professional, competent, efficient Dentist I have been to. His office is state of the art and his staff is c...

Worst

While the dental service itself was good, I received a completely unexpected bill after insurance and paying my deductible for x-rays in excess of what insurance covered. Also th...

incompetent staff 1/13/2010

They lost x-rays and filed my insurance claim on the wrong tooth. Sent me the bill when insurance denied coverage. Staff unwilling to acknowledge error or correct issue. more

Worse than the Army 9/12/2009

I've had better dental care in the Army than with this dentist. He needs to go to some anger management classes to learn how not to let his bad mood be reflected in his treatment of patients. Horrible experience. Don't make the mistake of going to him like I did. There are plenty of good, reputable dentists out there. more

I love him! 9/11/2009

He has been my dentist for over 15 yrs and he's wonderful. My whole family went to him. I have moved to Austin, and kept coming to Houston to see him. Anyone would do well to have such a caring dentist. more

Don't be fooled 6/27/2009

Don't be fooled by the positive reviews below. Dr. Swonke spent time with me on the first visit too giving me a complete detailed explanation of what I needed done to my teeth. However, when I returned to have the work done, I had to wait an hour and a half. When I questioned Dr. Swonke about his recommended procedures, he got very irritated and left me sitting in the exam room for another hour. To top it all off, he messed up my teeth and I too am having to have my dental work redone. Don't go to this dentist! He is very incompetent! more

A diffrent view 6/6/2008

I had to visit a dentist and Dr. Swonke was one of my providers and in the building where my wife works. My appointment was at 7:30am, at my request, and upon arrival at 7:28am Dr. Swonke was the only one there and let myself and two other patients in. He was apologetic about the time and said his staff would be here shortly. (They arrived about five minutes later). The staff was very friendly and immediately took me back to an examination room. They took x rays and about ten minutes later Dr. Swonke came in. I was a new patient so he spent about 15 minutes going over my history and discussing why I had come in. He reviewed my x rays and then did an exam. He was very considerate of my pain and took it very slow and easy. He then gave me a mirror so I could see what he was seeing and explained what the problem was and what the necessary treatment would be. Since my treatment would involve not only him but an oral surgeon, he would have me back to start with the oral surgeon who would need to complete that part of the treatment first. Based upon this first visit and first impressions are usually very important, I would say Dr. Swonke is now my dentist and I will refer anyone I know to him. more

Worst dental experience ever 12/28/2007

I have to agree with the previous review. I also visited this office for the convenience in location. However, I found the same to be true in regards to the rudeness of the receptionist and length of waiting time. The last time I went to this office, I had to wait an hour and 40 minutes before being seen I had the same frustration with services being performed that I did not ask for. When questioned as to why these additional services were being performed, Dr. Swonke got very irritated with me. The irritation transferred over into a very aggressive and brutal treatment for what should have been a relatively painless procedure. To top it off, I am now having to have the work redone by a more competent dentist. I will never go back to this dentist and would never recommend him to anyone. more

Very frustrating experience 10/30/2007

by reading the previous poster's review, i feel i am compelled to write another review to show readers a complete picture of this dental office. i visited this office many times mainly because of the convenience. however, i'm actually pretty frustrated about the service there. the receptionist is pretty arrognant, the doctor is not patient in listening to your questions and they will perform procedures on you without letting you know until you find it out. when you ask why they said that's a routine -- they just think you are not adequate enough to understand their explanation. in addition, they are not so good at keeping the appointment time. i once ended up waiting there for roughly an hour. hopefully this is just my experience, but i'm pretty frustrated about this dental office indeed. more

Best Dentist in Houston 8/19/2005

Dr. Swonke is the best dentist in Houston. He calms you when you are stressed about any procedure. He even plays a video for you and/or music to soothe your nerves during any procedure. He does excellent work and he caters to cowards. He is located in the Houston Medical Center and parking is easy...although a little pricey. more
