They should be ashamed 11/2/2015

Poor Service is how I would rate the company. I experienced the same as others with "we want both the husband and wife present" before we will give a quote. The wife was not present and the Salesperson began asking a lot of questions about about what type of work we do and why she was not present. I avoided most of the questions and kept replying with I am a hard working person. After the window measurement and the demonstration, we finally got to the price which having gotten other quotes I thought was way off base. The salesperson after hearing that I was not impressed with the price ensured me that the windows would pay for them selves after a very short time. I was having a lot of doubts about this information and requested a copy of the written quote and brochures about the windows so i could as he said compare apples to apples. I never got any information, even after making several phone calls to get what the salesperson ensured me I would receive. A month later and still more

Had Thermal King Windows come to the home and give a quote. Was pretty shocked to get a nearly $10,000 quote for about 8 average sized windows. Could not figure out why they were nearly demanding my wife be present at the time and then I figured it out during the sales pitch. Salesman would not leave a quote insisting that his hand writing was bad and one would be sent by mail. Nearly a month later and three additional calls requesting one and still nothing, not even a return phone call. Other companies selling what I believe is a comparable product did not even come close to this bid, some were about half the cost. Another problem is if they are not calling back now, what would they have done if I bought the windows and called with a problem? more

This company is a TRUE high pressure sales company. I have worked in sales like this before and I know the kinds of tricks they are trained to use to get you to buy on the spot. Like, if you buy today we will give you this or that. I do not give in to that kind of high pressure sales ever. If you do you will usually regret it! There windows looked nice and well built. But they are WAY over prices. Their salesman kept going on for about two hours giving us the history of replacement windows and constantly going over and over things I did not need to hear about them and about how vinyl windows are just worthless and most of the companies selling them have all kinds of ways in their fine print in the contract on the warranties, not to provide service. I cut him off twice and he finally got around to measuring the five windows I wanted replaced. Other people that had their salesman come out said it took three hours for him to make his presentation and sales pitch. The Thermo King windows he prices were over $1100.00 a each. I have had other replacement windows installed in another home over 10 years ago and have had no problems with them at all. This salesman constantly said on average they only last about five years before they start to fail. Maybe with some, but not ones I had installed over ten years ago. Which also have a 50 year transferable warranty and no cost on any repairs for parts or labor or service or trip charges and free replacement of broken window glass no matter why it gets broken.\r \r The salesmen for Thermo King should be taught you do not get sales by running down the products of other companies. You get sales by showing and proving how good your product it! I will mot buy their windows.\r more

We purchased 5 Thermal King Windows about 4 years ago and loved them so much, we purchased 3 sliding doors and another window. They are true to their word - the windows and doors have dropped our heating and AC bills a lot. Also reduces most sounds from outdoors. We didn't mess with the reps - we went straight to one of the partners (Steve). When we had the first 5 windows replaced, the installer did a great job on the inside caulking but you would not believe his outside work. It was worse than a 2 year old doing it. My husband immediately took photos and sent to Steve. He was at our house that evening, couldn't believe the shoddy work and had another installer out the next day. There was so much caulk, the installer couldn't get it all off so he totally re-capped all the windows and did a great job. And they fired the other installer. A year later, for some reason, one of our sliding windows bowed. We called, they came out, ordered us a new window and installed it without any problems - no questions asked. We had two sliding doors installed in December and again, they did a great job. With the super cold winter, we had some problems with air coming in one door and condensation on the frame. Again, I took photos. They came out and adjusted the door and added more insulation around the door which seemed to fix the problem. We'll know more next winter but I have no doubt if there is a problem, they'll fix it. We have one door and window at the warehouse and we'll be done but I would buy from them again in a heartbeat. As far as sexist, my husband and I both make decisions concerning our home purchases so I nor would he want to decide without both of us present. There's too many decisions to make for one person and personally, I feel we both should be present. High pressured - nope or we would not have purchased anything. We called them both times and the first thing my husband said was, you start pressuring, you will walk and I will purchase from someone else. Oh and BTW - the glass is tinted. It stays cool in the summer and warm in the winter. You really don't notice the tint but it has made a huge difference on my drapes, floor and furniture. It's a huge purchase but it's worth it. I hope this helps with your decision of purchasing windows and doors. They truly are a good product. more

I am very pleased with my Thermal King Windows! It wasn't a purchase I was looking forward to, kind of like a trip to the dentist. I would much rather plan a trip to the beach, but Thermal King made our experience quick and painless. I didn't even mind writing the check at the end because our windows are so fantastic. Everything from our first meeting with the salesperson to the installation was professional. I've even noticed that our air conditioning is more efficient. We used to set our thermostat at 69 or 70 and now set it at 74 or 75. I am convinced it's because our windows are not allowing heat to enter into our home. The best thing is that we will not have to worry about buying windows again as long as we live in this house...but if we do move, we will DEFINITELY buy Thermal King Windows! more

Great company, better windows 11/16/2011

I bought two windows from Thermal King after hearing their ads on the radio. I had a great experience with them. The salesman came to the house and was prompt and professional. He took the time not only to show us his product but also to educate us on what to look for in replacement windows. \r \r The main reason we bought is because the windows are second to NONE. We like to take care of our house, and these windows aren't even in the same league with the cheap-ees you hear advertised for $189 (Oh, you want glass with that?) If you are putting windows in your home and don't at least look at Thermal King, you are doing yourself a diservice.\r \r And, BTW. . .I did read the posts about rude sales people and ""sexist"" policies, and yeah, they did ask that my wife and i both be present so that they didn't have to go over everything twice -- makes sense to me that they are just trying to be efficient with their time. And, yes, they did ask us to buy at the end of the demo, and offered us a better price to do so. We took it. If someone thinks that's high pressure then maybe they should shop at a big box store where NOBODY talks to them.\r \r Bottom line -- my experience wasn't even close to the other negative comments. They sound like thin skinned people to me.\r \r Will definately buy from them again.\r \r more

Sexist company with asinine policies 8/11/2011

Sorry, but I just kicked the estimator out and told him not to return. The estimator came exactly on time, went upstairs, looked at the window that needs replacing and then said: ""Where's your husband, I can't give you an estimate without your husband."" I asked if he was joking, but no, even their manager confirmed that is their sexist business policy. No estimate if the husband is not home. Good luck with running that kind of company, you certainly won't get my business! more

TOO PUSHY! 7/28/2011

The rep just left, not too happy. He was VERY pushy to get us to sign RIGHT NOW! He was on time, and before we even started I told him he is the first and I have 5 other companies to come out. He did do a good show, but as his skinny butt sat on the demo window and I could think was of course it's going to hold YOUR weight, plus the demo window is smaller than a bathroom window therefore a lot more durable. And oh by the way, you said that demo window has last through 3-4 years of showing people....hello, it's not exposed to hail or excessive heat or snow storms or winds of 70+ mph like mine would be, and you keep it in a padded case. Most of all I did not like his pushiness on signing today, plus asked for an estimate and he refused to leave any quote in writing, and throughout his speech he bashed on the other companies. It reminded me of elections! I am not saying that the don't have a good/great product. It looks like a good product, but I am not going to do business without looking at a few companies FIRST. Another thing I did not care for was his ""specials"" were ONLY good if I signed right NOW!!! more

The Best 5/25/2011

We purchased 26 new windows from Thermal King this fall. We absolutely love them. The house is quieter and much warmer. Their installers were efficient, professional and courteous. We look forward to considerable energy savings. more

could not be happier! 5/25/2011

We ordered our windows back in June, shortly after moving into our home and discovering the windows were less than desirable.I won’t go into that. We had replaced the windows in our previous home, with double hung blah blah bah and discovered a good quality window is only as good as its installation. And so we convinced ourselves to fork over the big $ and go with Thermal King this time, based upon the guarantee of non-subcontracted installers. Now, I confess I did not truly expect the awesome job they did. They went above and beyond the basic requirement of providing and excellent installation of our triple pane windows complete with professional casing and insulation: cheerfully removing and rehanging all wooden blinds; cleaning the upper door half-round as they installed it, removing every tiny bit of debris at the end of the day, you’d never have known they were there; removing their shoes upon entering the home; even taking cookies from the oven while I was outside filling the kiddie pool for the children. Funnily, the cookies were a thank you for them, for slaving away in the heat! I would recommend them and their windows to anyone. They were courteous, polite and well mannered, besides being nice young men. I also appreciated the kindness with which they interacted with our 3 young children. more

good work, well done 5/25/2011

We felt compelled to write this review as we are so very pleased with the recent addition of our Thermal King windows. It was the installation team that really impressed us with the company! Charlie, Lee and Kerry made up the hardest working crew we have ever seen.We are so impressed with their work ethics, consideration and pride in work. If the company has any type of performance incentives/rewards, this crew is certainly deserving. We feel the windows themselves dramatically change the appearance of our home, and we know will provide us with increased comfort and reduced electric bills for years to come. We are very happy that we went with this company and their quality products. more

Amazing Job 12/7/2010

My husband and I have been so pleased with this company. Their product looks great, and we are delighted with how they improve the appearance of our house. But, even more, we were so happy with the crew who installed our windows. Jason and his team were courteous, professional and did an amazing job. Even when their work was delayed by rainy weather, they made every effort to get the job done as soon as they could. These men are really an asset to their employer. I recommend Thermal King to all my friends! more

Very, very pleased 12/7/2010

I wanted to add my review, as I had the complete opposite experience with Thermal King Windows. I am not a person that takes the time to write letters, however, when someone is exceptional, they deserve to be recognized. The installment quality I received was perfect. Charlie and his crew were very personal and professional. I am so pleased with the windows. I was extremely wary about the different window companies, their quality, cost, double pane versus triple pane and appearance. I had Champion and Rolox out twice, the Thermal King out three times before purchasing. I was showed more ways to test windows, temperatures and quality than colors of M&Ms. The cost of windows was so expensive and Rolox even tried to bait me in with a guarantee to pay back if the windows did not pay for themselves in a few years. After investigating there was no way I could have recovered $20,000 in savings. What they were hoping was that I would get tired of keeping the records required, or move. However, if someone had only a few windows in a smaller house and they were in bad shape, this might work. But it would require lot of record keeping to pay off. My opinion, it was a scam. The difference between double and triple windows was decided by checking the noise outside, the temp and stronger frame of the window structure. Several companies advised to use the double window that it was plenty. My question was then why do you make triple? My daughter in law replaced her windows from Window World. While we remodeled her residence, I had plenty of time to observe her windows. They were double pane and did a decent job of blocking the heat and cold. However, after comparing them to my Thermal King triple panes, I liked the total heating and cooling effects. The sound of triple pane stops the outside noise greatly and the condensation on my windows on early cool mornings and high dew days this quickly goes away and is a result of the triple pane. The double windows do not do this, showing me just how better the triples really are. I would also recommend getting the wood grain on the inside to the windows to match the trim in the house. It makes my rooms stand out and be noticed, especially when you use the wood venetian blinds. In closing, I would say that I am very pleased with the quality of the windows and workmanship. The cost that I incurred was much more than anticipated, but end result was worth it. I have 33 windows to demonstrate. I did a lot of checking on windows and would not mind helping someone make a decision. I can’t imagine spending a lot of money for replacement windows to find that someone settled for less and then had to live with them for a long time. more

Don't Buy From Them! Please read. 8/9/2010

I wish I would have read some of these reviews prior to having this company come out. I'm here to tell you that this company does a horrible job of doing business. I don't usually write reviews, but after this company wasted my time (which is money for me), I will never do business with them. \r \r I too had an appointment with them. A rep called the day before to make sure we were still on for the following day. I told him that we would be home, but that my wife may get called into work. He stated that they would be out tomorrow. A different rep showed up the next day; he was also late! He ask me how I was and ask where my wife was. I stated that she got called into work. He stated that he needed to talk to both of us and that he was going to leave. Are you kidding me, I said. He said no, that both us have to be there. I said that was absolutely ridiculous, and he said that we can make another appointment when we would both be at home. I stated that he can either show me now or not worry about it because they were never going to come back. He said that he had to go and that he didn't want to be fired for showing their product to me, so he left. \r \r Yeah folks, we're talking about windows here. Wow, what a great company that would fire someone for showing them their product. With the economy the way it is and this is how they do business. I work a lot and had just gotten off 60hrs straight in 3 days & my wife got called into work her 6th/12hr day. We don't have a lot of free time and it's very precious to us. I called the company to ask for the owner/president. They wouldn't give me a name and finally someone got on and ask if they could help me. I kept asking for a name, but he would not give me one. He wanted my name and when I gave it to him, he stated that he was the one I had talked to the day before to confirm the appointment. I said great, I stated that I had told him yesterday that my wife may get called into work and that he never said that we both had to be there. He gave me some song & dance that he thought he had made it clear. Folks, I'm here to tell you this guy never said one word about both of us having to be at home. I told him that he had wasted my time and that I would never do business with the company. I told him that I would put plywood up for windows before I used this company. I told him that I'm going to spread the word about how this company does business and that people should not use them. I also ask for an owner/presidents name repeatedly & he would never give me a name or number. He kept telling me he didn't know. I find that a little hard to believe. I sure like to know who I'm working for and who's the one running things; how about you?\r \r The other reviews on here about the same type of problem are spot on. I don't know, but my guess would be that they're a very high pressure company and want to try and pressure both people in order to get a sale, or convince one and then gang up to persuade the other person. I can honestly say I don't know because they wouldn't even talk to me. If anyone else has had a bad experience with this company, please take a little time to post it. We don't need to support companies like this. There are too many other companies out there that sell windows. Thanks for taking the time to read this.\r more

Worst company I have ever dealt with 9/18/2009

The rep showed up knowing that I was the only one here. After I introduced myself, I told him that it was my partner that called and made the appointment. He then told me he didn't know who called, he just had our address and time on his list. After 5 minutes of small talk, he finally asked if I was in a position to make a decision on a sale. He could only offer Factory Incentives on the first visit, and if I couldn't make the decision, then perhaps he should come back. It would be best that he speak to both my partner and myself at the same time, he said, that way he could make sure we were both in agreement. I assured him that number one, I was quite capable of making a decision, and number two, it didn't matter, because we were not going to be pressured into a sale that very night. We had companies coming out each evening for the next 5 nights and we were going to listen to all of them, and then make our decision. After again telling me he would rather wait until we were both available, and that he was already booked for the evening and very busy, I finally told him that I would not guarantee that my partner would be here, and if he did not want to talk to me, he could walk out the door right now. And he did. On his way out he stated they would be calling back for a followup appointment - I told him to have a nice day.\r \r The next day they did call - and the same man that initially set up the appointment (different from the actual rep), spoke to my partner again - he indicated the sales rep stated that my partner wasn't here, and asked why. My partner had already told them when they set up the appointment that he would not be here, but that I would and would gather all information to share. The phone rep then said that wasn't what they had set up. Then my partner told him exactly what happened, between myself and the actual representative, and assured the phone rep that he had explained that he would not be available. The phone rep finally admitted that he 'may have mis-understood', and my partner then told him we were not going to waste any more time with their company - the phone rep wished him well and HUNG UP!\r \r For all the window companies there are in the Greater KC Area, I would NOT recommend Thermal King for any type of business at all.
