Oozes atmosphere 4/24/2007

Now maybe it is because it is supposed to be haunted or maybe it is just the historic aspects but this restaurant is a lot of fun to visit. We got a discount coupon for lunch and this took $2 off. There was a very nice buffet with plenty of choices. It isn't the best food we had but it was good maybe even very good in some cases and just the possibility of bumping into the ghost of Captain Flint made it worthwhile to visit. The cuisine is regional Southern and I loved the pecan chicken and the squash casserole. more

Delicious and Historic 3/30/2007

This is a kid-friendly restaurant but the previous review makes it out like it is a kiddie restaurant built to resemble a pirate's house, playing off the theme made popular lately by the movies. This was a REAL pirate's house, even mentioned in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island! It is one of the oldest houses in Georgia and a sight to see without even eating there. The food is spectacular. We knew we would only have time to have one dinner in Savannah, and my parents were right to recommend this place. I had pecan-encrusted fried chicken and my boyfriend had pecan-encrusted salmon, by far the most delicious use of the word encrusted I'd ever encountered. Our dinner was ready before we were even done with our delicious bread, and this was on a Friday night, granted,a little early (around 6:30). I can't say enough good things about the experience. more

Nice but slow 3/28/2006

Went to this restaurant with a crowd so that hopefully explains the wait but we did wait! We had no food for over 20 minutes on a slow Tuesday evening. Once the food came, we didn't see our waiter again until someone went out in search of him. Then...we waited AGAIN for the bill. Assuming the wait was unusual, I would recommend this restaurant. It has cute pirates (think Pirates of the Caribean in Disneyworld) out front and is decorated like it was a , you guessed it, pirate's house. The food was good if a little pricey but, this is Savannah. The desserts were above average. more

  • Since 1753, The Pirate's House has been welcoming visitors to Savannah with a bounty of delicious food and drink and rousing good times. Situated a scant block from the Savannah River, The Pirate's House first opened as an inn for seafarers, and fast became a rendezvous for blood-thirsty pirates and sailors from the Seven Seas. Here seamen drank their grog and discoursed, sailor fashion, on their exotic high seas adventures from Singapore to Bombay and from London to Port Said..
