Wonderful place for a reception! 1/22/2010

Not in the greatest part of town, but such a beautiful building. Building contains a marble staircase, tiffany stained glass windows, and gorgeous chandeliers. I used this as my reception site and I would never take that back. Still today people talk about how beautiful the place was and how great the food was. I have heard some say that the prices are high, but I think they are lower than some of the other sites and club houses I visited. Plus you get top of the line servers and food. The staff was great to work with and they did everything to make my wedding perfect. Before my wedding I went to the Phoenix over 10 times to show my family and friends the room, not once was the staff rude to me about this. Each time I called requesting to come look again they were so accomadating and even let me look in on weddings that were being set up so I could get ideas. I would recommend this place to anyone! Pros: Charming building, great staff, perfect food Cons: Location more

4-course prix fixe value 8/3/2004

The Phoenix offers a 4-course prix fixe for $40. It's a good value for the quantity of food you get--a soup, salad, entree, and dessert. And, portions are large. Enough to take home leftovers. Service is prompt and professional. The restaurant is quiet enough to have a conversation. Dress is business to business casual. However, I was less impressed by the food. The soup was too salty, the salad was average, and the entree was a little overcooked. The best part was the creme brulee. more

Mediocrity Defined 3/9/2004

The best thing about the Phoenix is that there is really nothing terrible about it. The worst thing is that there is nothing really great about it. Maybe the historical building is great, but for me atmosphere is only 25% of the equation when I go to a restaurant like the Phoenix. This is another restaurant that tries to get there but just quite cannot. Part of it is that the Cincinnati market (and most of the United States) will not support an anachronistic fine dining concept more

Phoenix Reception 8/5/2002

My wife and I held our wedding reception at the Phoenix, in the Grand Ballroom, and it was wonderful. While I am bias, it was the best reception I have ever been to (and I have been to a few of them). I am still getting compliments about the Fillet Minion to this day from our guests. Pros: Staircase, Wonderful Ambience, Great Food Cons: Expensive, Exclusive, No Hotel more
