Best

The blueberry pancakes are the best ever. Weird, freaky decor. Lots of posing little JHU undergrads, but you ain't goin' there for that are you? Park close to the door 'cause that...

Worst

This was my first time at paper moon and I won't be returning! The service was aweful! I had a party of 7 and the waiter was so nasty, she wasn't friendly at all. I will never go ...

A little weird 6/27/2006

This is definiely a very ecclectic restaurant. The food here is good, but the atmosphere is a little creepy. Call me crazy, but I'm not crazy about having manequins staring at me, especially when I'm in the restroom! Like I said though, the food is good and the restaurant is open all night long. This is a hang out for the college crowd mostly, but I've been here several times, and the only thing I didn't like was the strange way the place was decorated. I guess that's what makes the restaurant what it is though! more

Yummy food in an ecletic atmosphere 4/13/2006

One of the better 24 hour establishments in Baltimore (not that there are many). The decor is a bit crazy...dolls and toys and stuff just everywhere...which some find off-putting, some find entertaining. The food is basically good, and I especially recommend the Challah bread french toast, as well as the sweet potato fries. more

Good food, not your average menu 4/8/2006

I've only eaten here a few times but I've always enjoyed it. The menu is not your typical coffee shop or diner menu and there are tons of unique and interesting bits of decor all over the place, but not that kind of manufactured crazy look that TGIF does. This is more like they raid thrift shops regularly for funny stuff to display. It's worth a visit just to look at all that stuff. The food was pretty good and service was good. more

Overpriced and Eclectic 2/5/2006

Papermoon is a unique diner, if nothing else. From it's brightly painted exterior to the Pez dispensers hanging from the ceiling fans, there's always something to look at when you're at Papermoon. Prices are creeping up slowly, and in my opinion, the portions are getting smaller. If you're looking for a break from chain restaurants, this is definitely it; however, if you're in the mood for a cheap meal, look elsewhere. Do try their sweet potato fries; they're my favorite item on the menu. more

Great Wild Place to Eat 9/19/2005

If you're feeling a bit crazy, give this place a try. It starts off with your run-of-the-mill sit-in restaurant/diner. Add to that several more vegetarian entrées than you'd find in most. Then paint the walls many many bright colors, glue the contents of a flea market toy store to the ceiling and walls, throw in a few mannequins in awkward positions, and you've almost got the wackiness of this place. Seriously, check it out! more

last of the all night diners 9/14/2005

It's always packed. The food is typically good, but the service is usually slow at best...I guess they want you to take time looking around at all the "stuff" throughout the restaurant. It is definitely uniquely designed. I can't believe this place is open all night, but sure enough it is! more

No other diner like it 8/31/2005

Paper Moon Diner opened about 15 years ago and not much about it has changed. It has the scariest decor around - headless or torsoless Barbie and baby dolls nailed to the ceiling and walls, a naked mannekin torso near the front door, creepy remnants of a disturbed child's toybox. The waitstaff is impatient, mocking at times. It is hard to get a refill of any drink without an eyeroll. The food, however, can be quite good, depending on the mood of the grill cook/chef during that shift. The staff's shifts, by the way, run for 12 hours, which may explain a lot. Breakfast is served all day, as are sandwiches, pastas, desserts. more

Strange Place, Good Food 8/16/2005

From the moment you walk in to Paper Moon, you can tell you're not in for the normal diner experience. They take the standard model of restaurant wall decorations up a notch from the eccentric to the bizarre, featuring such novelties as department-store mannequins and mutilated children's toys. Decor aside, the food is excellent, with reasonable prices and breakfast served all day, not to mention being one of the few restaurants in the area open 24 hours. The staff is friendly and enthusiastic, and there is ample seating. more

Hey—its 24-7 8/15/2005

This place has changed over the years. It used to be a very uber-artistic crowd that populated the tables at 3am. However, it has gained more popularity among the “normal” college types. The last time I was there, there appeared to be the likes of sorority girls at table near me. However, for a 24-7 place to get grub, I recommend the Paper Moon. Food prices are not that bad and the selection is good. If you hit the place during their late night weekend after club hours, you may have to wait for a place to sit, but at least the odd and amusing decorations can give you entertainment during your wait. more

Interesting Decor, Good Food 8/4/2005

The first time I ever went to the Paper Moon Diner the first thought in my head was, "What on earth???" It is decorated in the most interesting way. Bicycles and manaquins hang from the ceiling, a collection of "junk" and antiques are on the walls. It's almost like you are walking through a random art store...or a basement of a pack rat. It's definitely an interesting choice of decoration. This place has your typical diner food, in addition to a few not so typical choices on their menu. The food is good and makes it worth coming back. Here you can see a wide range of people eating here--business people in their suits and dresses, high school kids hanging out, people coming alone to eat to get some piece and casual diners who are in the mood for something different. Parking can be tough and when it's REALLY BUSY service can be a little slow, but nothing so bad that it discourages you from wanting to come back. more
