Staff is unhelpful. 5/12/2011

I live in a one bedroom apartment unit that does not have a washer and dryer. Upon moving in I was given a laundry card and informed that I was able to load money onto the card via check, money order or cash UP TO $5. Today I put a couple of loads in to wash and went into the office with a $5 bill to load money onto my card to dry my clothes. I was told ""We no longer accept cash."" I informed them that I wasn't made aware of the change, I didn't have any personal checks and I had no car to drive to a store to get a money order. I asked them to only load the two dollars that I need to dry my clothes since I received no notice of a change to the policy, but they refused. They told me to dry my clothes ""on your balcony or something."" Very nice customer service you have there. I won't be renewing my lease. more

Do not live here 3/8/2011

I completely agree with the previous review. There is a reason most of the online reviews of The Palisades are negative. \r \r I have lived at The Palisades for two and a half years and am looking to move as soon as possible. While the location is good, I would not recommend living here to anyone. The management and office staff are increasingly difficult to deal with. Their customer service is incredibly poor, response time to phone calls and messages is extremely slow, and in one instance of dealing in-person with a manager, she was out-right rude and insulting. They nickel-and-dime you for everything possible and when they are wrong about something, they do not apologize for the inconvenience it has caused the tenant. \r \r I had the EXACT rent problem as the previous reviewer - they had given me the incorrect rent amount and I had unknowingly been underpaying by a few dollars each month. When they finally notified me of this, it was via a note taped to my door saying I owed several hundred dollars within five days or I would be evicted, saying this was my final notice. I did not receive a first notice! And when I brought this to their attention, again, there was no apology, just that it must not have made it into my mailbox. \r \r DO NOT LIVE HERE. Go to an apartment complex where they actually appreciate having tenants pay rent to keep their business alive. Dealing with the staff at the The Palisades is more hassel than it's worth. more

Bad Experience 4/2/2010

I lived at The Palisades for about 1.5 years but was out of town most of the time on business or my stay would have been much shorter. My experience during the time that I did stay at The Palisades was not a positive one. Common sense should tell anyone that the hundreds of poor reviews and comments on numerous Websites (apartmentreviews(dot)net, apartmentratings(dot)com) is not a coincidence or a well orchestrated series of lies. I should have realized that something was wrong the first day. 2 of the staff were trying to convince me that I needed the most expensive 1 bedroom unit (there are 3 models) because the middle unit did not have a washer and dryer even though the floor plan and documentation clearly indicated otherwise. Apparently they erroneously believed that I could not read. I did not own any pets when I moved in but that quickly changed when I discovered I would be sharing my apartment with scorpions and my balcony doubled as a pigeon coop. The sinks and shower would occasionally sputter brown/rust colored liquid that left sediment and caused me to begin brushing my teeth with bottled water. Some of the staff are nice and some are, well, not. You will need to contact the office every month to ensure they have received your rent payment in full. If there is a discrepancy, they will wait weeks before notifying you while accumulating late fees of several hundred dollars. This happened to me when I called the office for my rent total (including water) and their staff gave me the wrong figure. Weeks later I was told I had only made a partial payment because the total was off by 2 dollars. I would suggest getting a receipt each month to avoid this scam. The highlight of my stay was when I finally moved. Not only because I was leaving, but because soon after I left I received an invoice claiming that I needed to pay $900 for a new dishwasher. The dishwasher in the apartment was in the exact same working condition on the last day I was there as it was on the first. It was not a new model but was in perfect working condition. Apparently this is how they are planning to fund their unit upgrades. I highly recommend to anyone considering living at The Palisades to reconsider. Pros: I no longer live there Cons: Yes, the staff are cons more
