Best

Have always enjoyed my visits to this restaurant. Definitely THE tribeca neighborhood must-eat! Pros: Great food and ambiance Cons: none i can think of

Worst

I sure was suprised to see no vegetarian entrees on the menu-- not a problem one often has in NYC. The french fries were too salty. Diners are allowed to put their own ketchup on ...

Thanks for the great night out!! 1/17/2009

Great night out! Went with a few friends who I hadn't seen in a while. Had a few drinks at the bar and was treated like royalty!! (great martini's!) At the table service was great and the food even better. I had the beet salad, and have been trying to replicate it ever since! And the lamb was to die for! I am looking forward to going back soon!! Pros: Food, Service, Bar...fantastic french fries more

Fantastic Restaurant 10/19/2008

heyy I am the first reviewer :) Absolutely fantastic. I have been here twice once on a romantic date and the second time with a party of four and each time it was an experience. From the minute you sit down to the minute you leave everything is above and beyond what you expect. Fantastic food escellent service great wine list. Expensive but well worth it. If you want to impress this is the place. Pros: food, service more

Average... 10/1/2008

A friend of mine has been under a lot of stress lately so I wanted to take him to a relaxing place and cheer him up. It worked! The food was lovely and the place was pretty but the servicer was rude which got me down. Another thing...... when I called to make reservations for 8pm the receptionist said they were booked up and could only seat us at 7:30. However the place was a quarter full all the time we were there. So I guess the food and place is pretty but I can't say much for the service. Pros: food Cons: service more

our new favorite place 7/21/2008

I love the Harrison! We ate there for the second time last night and had one of the best meals ever. Each course was perfectly cooked and extremely flavorful. The panna cotta for dessert was the perfect summer delight! The Harrison is our new favorite place. more

Artichoke hearts! 7/15/2008

OMG, the artichoke hearts appetizer. I've eaten there at least 10 times this year and cannot resist ordering that same appetizer every time. I love everything I've tried at the harrison, but I always end up dreaming about those artichoke hearts. Last time I was there I also had the lemon chicken and tried my husband's octopus salad and his lamb chop. It's a tossup which was my favorite. I could easily have finished his lamb chop if I hadn't stopped myself. \r We live nearby and in that neighborhood (tribeca) there are hardly any places you can go spur of the moment, for a great, fun meal. So we really love this place. It's a lot of fun eating at the bar. I've also been for birthdays and everyone I've brought there has loved it. I sent my friends there for an anniversary, because they wanted a place that was not stuffy or too ""fancy"" but still felt special, and they thought it was perfect. \r The waiters I've had were always really nice and knew their food. Always perfect service, and always delicious. more

Bad Service 7/13/2008

I really wanted to like this place since I really like the Red Cat and everything started off well - nice table, welcoming staff, good drinks but everything went down hill once the food came. My wife's courses were excellent but both of mine were inedible, the clam special was filled with grit and my entree, a steak was really tough. When I complained to the server - he told me that manager said he didn't care. Must be under new management more

Perfect! 5/2/2008

The food is wonderful, simple and always very good. The service is subtle. The staff is very knowledgeable. Prices are very good for Tribeca. Ambiance is good, sometimes a bit too dim though. Great place to take family or friends. Eating outside in the summertime is also a plus. They own Red Cat in Chelsea as well. Food is as good at Harrison and much better ambiance in Tribeca. Pros: great service more

Absolutely Fantastic! 8/22/2007

We had a large group ~25 people here for dinner and the service and food were spectacular. We were seated in the room downstairs that had great ambiance and the long table was perfect for our event. Everyone enjoyed the food, wine and the staff was really accomodating for our large group. Would go here again in a heartbeat. Pros: Dining room for large groups Cons: N/A more

Rude reception 6/11/2007

I always wanted to try The Harrison. This was supposed to be a birthday celebration for me. When\r my friend sent me the Open Table Invitation I was thrilled. When we arrived for our reservation\r we were greeted by a hostess with an immediate attitude. She said that we did not have a reservation\r (which had been confirmed not only by Open Table on the phone through the restaurant). She led us\r to a table in the back. It was very dark and unwelcoming back there. It seemed as though she was\r doing us a favor. My friend and I looked at each other and said ""let's go somewhere else"" we told\r the people at the front desk why we were leaving. We ended up at Bouley Bakery and had a\r fabulous dinner with great service and a wonderful table with great views. There are so many\r extraordinary restaurants in New York. Don't put up with that kind of service. Especially at those\r prices. Our evening was saved! Cons: HORRIBLE ATTITUDE more

A New Favorite 4/5/2007

I selected The Harrison based on citysearch's reviews and I was not disappointed. My boyfriend and I had 8:15pm dinner reservations. The restaurant was full but not overwhelming. The atmosphere was perfect for dinner conversation. It was romantic enough for couples but also a great place for small groups. There was enough space between tables for a little privacy. And did I mention the food... each course was excellent. If you go, please order the Sweet Pea Pancake as your appetizer. It was delicious! Pros: Ambience, Food more

Tell your friends 3/22/2007

My girlfriend and I will be judging all other restaurants by the great meal we just eat at The Harrison. I expected to get small portions and pay a high end price for it. I did, and I did, but it was well worth it. We arrived earlier than expected (5:35pm) and had the restaurant to ourselves. The service personal were friendly and helpful. Thanks to City Search's reviews I now have a new restaurant to look forward to. I used the Open Table for the reservation which also worked out great. Pros: Food Cons: View more

Downtown Cool & Great Food 3/6/2007

My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here last week. It was a very cold night and we had a cozy corner table by the windows where we could people watch and relax. We started with the oysters which tasted like they had been harvested that morning. We are both New Englanders so we tend to be a bit critical when it comes to shellfish. I had the onion soup next which had pieces of short rib in it- WOW! It was the perfect thing to order on a cold night. He had the day boat scallops, they were beautifully seared and came with an orange vinaigrette, the flavors were amazing. Then I ordered the codfish and he had the duck. Again, the flavor combinations were very interesting. The duck came with a spaetzle made form a quark, a cheese I had never heard of and a delicious date-turnip puree. The codfish was inspiring. It was served with potato perogis and caramelized onion and rocked! (If my mother cooked like that I'd be 6 inches taller!) Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert which I will definitely go back for. Our server was charming and professional with great recommendations, yet not obtrusive. What started as a run-of-the-mill date night ended up as an extraordinary meal not to be forgotten. The Harrison is downtown cool yet serves great food and the servers seem to actually care about the guests experience. Pros: Service, food, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Love this place 1/18/2007

We have been going to the Harrison since it opened in 2001 and find that it is always worth the trek down to Tribeca. The food, wine and service are all very good. On a recent visit we were a bit disappointed because they took the fried clams off the menu, but other than that our evening was most enjoyable. We always request to sit by the window which is away from the bar as it is more relaxing. Pros: The carrot cake Cons: Can get noisy more

STAY AWAY! 1/12/2007

I have lived in Tribeca for over 2 years and have had the misfortune of dining at The Harrison on two separate occasions. The first time I remarked how bland and tasteless the food was, how over-hyped and uninspired the restaurant and its crowd were, and how fundamentally boring the entire experience was. Unfortunately I was taken there again only one month ago by a colleague. The food was the same as usual, dull. The menu had not changed over the course of the year and the waiter was still aloof. However, later that evening I became VIOLENTLY ill after eating oysters at The Harrison. I know it was the oysters as my doctor confirmed the nature of my 72 hour sickness. If I can say anything it is this..STAY AWAY UNLESS YOU WANT TO RISK BEING SICK, BORED, OR THE RECIPIENT OF UNWARRANTED ARROGANCE. Pros: Location Cons: Tastless, Boring, Over-priced, Noisy more

Great service and food 12/8/2006

A must try, this restaurant does a great job of balancing great food with good service and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. This is casual upscale dining at its best. Pros: Great food Cons: make reservation more

One of the Best in the City 7/22/2006

This is one of the best restaurants we have ever been to in NY. The food is comforting and has great flavors. Crispy Chicken was AWESOME! Nothing bad can be said about this place. more
