My husband and I had a wonderful dinner here last week. It was a very cold night and we had a cozy corner table by the windows where we could people watch and relax. We started with the oysters which tasted like they had been harvested that morning. We are both New Englanders so we tend to be a bit critical when it comes to shellfish. I had the onion soup next which had pieces of short rib in it- WOW! It was the perfect thing to order on a cold night. He had the day boat scallops, they were beautifully seared and came with an orange vinaigrette, the flavors were amazing. Then I ordered the codfish and he had the duck. Again, the flavor combinations were very interesting. The duck came with a spaetzle made form a quark, a cheese I had never heard of and a delicious date-turnip puree. The codfish was inspiring. It was served with potato perogis and caramelized onion and rocked! (If my mother cooked like that I'd be 6 inches taller!) Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert which I will definitely go back for. Our server was charming and professional with great recommendations, yet not obtrusive. What started as a run-of-the-mill date night ended up as an extraordinary meal not to be forgotten. The Harrison is downtown cool yet serves great food and the servers seem to actually care about the guests experience. Pros: Service, food, atmosphere Cons: parking
