Salad bar is a nice start...but be sure to get the Prime Rib !

Worst

Went to Cooperage last night with some friends. We all ordered Steaks, my husband had the Buffalo Steak.

Editorial review from Citysearch 2/16/2013

I have never even considered complaining about a restaurant. Seems petty, and you generally get about what you pay for. So I expect the service to be horrible at some sort of all-you-can-eat buffet. You don't go to Furr's or McDonald's for the ambiance. Unfortunately, we did go to the Cooperage thinking we'd have a really nice supper and atmosphere; and we were certainly charged for nice food and atmosphere. Neither was available, price notwithstanding. The food was cold, and wouldn't have been worth its price even if it had been brought out within 20 minutes of having been cooked. The waitstaff was---i don't know--- rented? How do you screw up a filet mignon and wine?! It was kind of funny at first, and then we got the bill and realized we were being expected to pay a Real Restaurant price for very poor service and food. ""Cheat me on the price, but don't cheat me on the product."" The Cooperage managed to do both. Won't repeat that mistake. \r \r On the other hand, the hostess (who did everyone else's job, as far as we could tell) actually had some social acumen, and should go work on a better-run ship. more

don't waste your money 2/15/2011

you're better of going to kbob's or other reasonably priced steakhouse. Food is the same quality...maybe better at kbob's. Food at Cooperage is mediocre.....definitely overpriced and not worth the cost at all. Salad bar same pre bought food as at other salad bars, I had the lamb---mint jelly served with it...it again from a jar. Cooperage use to be the place to go years back, now it's the place we won't go back. more

Worst Christmas Eve Dinner Ever 12/27/2010

My husband and I had a 6PM reservation Christmas Eve, finally seated at 6:35 in the bar/dancing floor area. Odd! Nothing was said by the lady seating us, she just walked off. Then there were several others being seated also. Then after five minutes the bar tender showed up with a very quick voice about the specials, never understood a word he said then left quickly. There was no Christmas music, table settings, nothing said for why the seating area. We finally ordered, then went to salad bar. We notice many empty tables open, even for two people, why did we not get one, and there was no one waiting at check in. Bread never showed up, had to ask several times for refills on coffee and water. Was never asked about our service or comments. The food was good, but the service was inexcusable with no explanation for why nor any apologies. They no nothing about customer service at this restaurant. more

Worst dinner experience 12/18/2010

Went to eat with my wife for our 11 year anniversary. After waiting 45 min for our food, we had to send the food back the first time because it was not cooked correctly and mine was cold. We have never done this in a resturant before. They tried to just reheat the food and it came back like rubber and did not taste good at all. more

Good meal 4/21/2010

Good place to grab a steak while in the Duke city. Nice place to enjoy a family meal. Dieters can feast on the salad bar, non dieters can get a plenty big steak to curb their hunger. A little pricey, but hey it is steak and you get what you pay for. more

Great food, much improved service and salad bar. 2/2/2009

I have eaten at the Cooperage many times over the past few years. The service, cleanliness and the salad bar have all much improved in the past year. As for the ""church lady"", I think we must have had the same waitress - her skirt was practically up to her chin and was just plain tacky. I'm sure the male reviewers didn't mind it. The salad bar was wonderful the last time we went and the food is great. The shrimp are huge and one definitely has plenty to eat! The ambience is nice although a little crowded in some areas. The service was good and no sign of the band-aid skirt thankfully. Highly recommend it. Pros: Food, salad bar Cons: parking more

Don't listen to the church lady 11/21/2008

The Cooperage was awesome. I also thought the prime rib was the best in town. My husband got the lobster tale and it was large and fantastic. We just moved here from Florida and know what good seafood is all about. The salad bar was extensive and everything looked fresh on it. Our sides were great also. The potatos were cooked just right and loaded to the brim. As for a lady writing a bad review on something she got as a gift- from her church no less? Why are churches giving out gift certificates? And making a complaint to corporate? If she was really into serving others she would decline the gift certificate and send the money to an organization that feeds poor children on thanksgiving or Christmas. What kind of church gives expensive gift certificates to members? Donations should be given to the needy. I thought the Cooperage was great and friendly and didn't see any clothing worn that was not acceptable. I for one would like to have a review of the church she goes to so I don't recommend to anyone to attend. Really, broadcasting shady church ethics on the internet- Church lady, be ashamed of yourself. Call me if you want 505 459 0269. I would love to hear the name of that church. Pros: best prime rib in town Cons: for the price the setting could have been a bit fancier more

Steak! 10/21/2008

This place has a great salad bar and the steaks rock! It's a little pricey but you get what you pay for so it's well worth the money. The atmosphere is comfortable and has great service. more

Best Prime Rib in town, quiet atmosphere, great service 2/29/2008

We go out to eat often and Cooperage was recommended to us several times so we decided to go there. We were very pleased with the atmosphere, the salad and soup bar and our waitress was awesome. The owner even came by our table to see that everything was ok. We could not have asked for a better place to dine. So many places are noisy but this was not. The prime rib as the best I have EVER had and the baked potato was loaded. We were very impressed and will return again as well as recommend Cooperage to others. Pros: all of it would be on a positive note Cons: Not having a Cooperage closer to Rio Rancho! more

Great Soup & Salad Bar 1/15/2008

Cooperage is one of the best places in Albuquerque. The menu offers a wide variety of items, not to mention the amazing Soup & Salad Bar. You have your choice of salad, pastas, fruits, desserts and best of all, their soup. Their green chile chicken soup is sooooooooooo good. There's always a good chance you'll fill up on the Soup & Salad Bar just before your food arrives. In that case, do what I do, take it home :) Pros: Soup & Salad Bar more

Not recommended for a dog 8/1/2007

This was one of the worst places in ABQ I have ever gone. The service was horrible. The waitress had on such a short skirt that every time she bent over, it was disgusting. We never did receive our bread and had to repeatedly ask for things, such as steak sauce, etc. The salad bar was lacking in it's appearance...everything was soggy looking; at least what there was of it. A lot of the bowls were empty. We had a gift certificate from our church which is why we chose to ate here. When we finally got our ticket, the waitress acted like she had never seen a gift certicficate before. She never came back with our change from it so we finally just chose to leave. I called the manager the next day and made a complaint about our service. He assured me this was not the way their restaurant worked and it surprised him about the waitress. He told me the corporate office would be calling after he talked to the waitress and wrote a report. Well, what a surprise, never did hear back from him or the corporate office. Needless to say, I will let our church know not to give our gift certificates here anymore because I definitely won't ever be back! Cons: Service, food, atmosphere, parking more
