Not Real Cajun Food 4/30/2008

Pros: Great looking place Cons: Food more

Good Drinks - Food Not So Good 4/28/2008

I work right next door and have tried three times to eat there (more than I would usually give) and both times have come up short. They are not cheap, that is for sure. The food is really not good. Most dishes are extremely salty!! The portions are small, with exception of their specialty sandwich. That is quite large but again, very salty. The service is ok - not the best. Pros: nice place visually, drinks good Cons: bad food more

Poor Customer Service, Food not so hot! 3/21/2008

The Big Easy in Raleigh NC. A horrible choice for a meal or good times! Food is average, definitely not authentic Cajun! The worst part is the Poor Customer Service! From the time you get seated the process of continual let down begins. When I complained to the owner/manager as I left she said ?Sorry BUDDIE? I would Put The Big Easy on The Worst Restaurants and Bar list for Raleigh NC. Pros: Great Drinks! Cons: Poor Customer Service more

Fun as a bar, avoid the food 1/9/2008

The Big Easy is a fun place to go on a Friday or Saturday night, but I would never make the mistake of wasting my money there for dinner again. Honestly, there is nothing else to say except that it sucked. Pros: nightlife Cons: food more

New Orleans atmosphere but lackluster food. 11/11/2007

I?d been wanting to check out the Big Easy for a long time and apparently, so did a bunch of my compadres, so we went last Saturday night as a group. They did a great job with the atmosphere for this restaurant?I was disappointed in only the lack of Mardi Gras beads. They should give some out when you walk inside! My friends who had been to New Orleans before said that even the bathroom was appropriate as it screamed, ?mug me? with its location in a dark corridor between dining rooms. Really, though, the feel of the place was great but the food was rather underwhelming. Pros: Drink List, cozy and authentic feel Cons: Food isn't quite up to par more

Best Bargain For The Buck 10/22/2007

Went on a first date here and it was perfect. Can't beat this place on what you get for the price. Food, service, bar was good. Will go here again. Pros: Good all around Cons: Too much food. more

loved the whole experience 10/19/2007

I went after work on friday to enjoy a beer and met some really great people that worked there. They were all friendly and helpful. I loved the whole atmosphere of the place. Very relaxed. The bartender suggested the preztel appetizer and it was really good. I also took home the shrimp appetizer and my husband loved it. For sure worth returning to! more

Best Cajun since we left New Orleans 10/18/2007

My husband and I are traveling this week and we are from New Orleans. My daughter suggested coming here over the weekend and it was surprisingly wonderful. The food was great. The soft pretzel & crab was great. the Creole sauce reminded me of back home. It was a very romantic dinner. Pros: Very Authentic Cons: It's in Raleigh and not in New Orleans more

Great Food and Company 10/18/2007

I travel very often but I will make sure when I end up in Raleigh I will be back at The Big Easy. Food was GREAT and the menu is huge. Service was good and I enjoyed the bartenders company. Live Jazz music was a Great touch! Pros: Great Food, Large Menu, & good personnel Cons: N/A more

Wow! Exceeded Expectations! My new favorite place in town. 9/23/2007

Food is Great!!! Service is awesome!!! Had a great dinner and we stayed longer for drinks afterwords. The Louisiana Pretzel is awesome and was a wonderful start to our meal. We were recommended the pork medalions and pasta fras diavlo, which is what we decided to order. The food was terrific! Amosphere and decor sets a good mood to enjoy a wonderful night on the town. Pros: Great Food and Service!!! Cons: Seemed to get a little crowded off and on. more

Relaxed atmosphere great food 9/10/2007

We were walking down Fayetteville St Saturday afternoon and just happened to pass the Big Easy. Having already eaten down the street we planned on just going in for a drink or two. The customer service was awesome - everyone was so accomidating and friendly. We ended up staying much longer than we had planned even had a couple appetizers (you should definatly try the pretzel!). I would recommend The Big Easy to anyone wanting a relaxing experience with tasty food. Pros: inviting atmosphere Cons: parking is hard to find without using the decks more

DONT EAT THERE!!!! THE FOOD IS RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 9/9/2007

I unfortunately was a patron of the Big Easy earlier today. My girlfriend and I were served RAW chicken tenders! They were uncooked except for the outer crust portion. When we brought to this to the attention of the waitress she didn't even seem surpised. She didn't even apologize. She simply took the platter away. When she returned with another platter minutes later the chicken was still RAW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I couldn't believe it. On top of the raw food, the customer service was equally appalling. We will NEVER visit this restauruant again. Lastly, the restaurant was literally empty when we arrived. Now I know why..... Cons: Raw food!!! Horrific service!!!!! more

Avoid lunch, and watch out for SLOW service 6/17/2007

The kids (3) and I took Dad out for Father's Day today to ""The Big Easy"". I decided that The Big Easy sounded like a pretty decent place. We were seated, and the table was horrible, it's very low, and if you leaned on it, it got lower. Plus my 5-year old daugther pointed out to me that there were nails sticking through. It took a while for us to get our drinks. We ordered the alligator bites, and entrees. We had to ask about the kids entrees, as that ARE NOT included on the menu, or mentioned to you, unless you ask. My son and my daugther liked the alligator bites, my other son wouldn't touch them. My husband thought they were too chewy, which they were. I also thought that they tasted rather gamey. But, for $7.75, or something in that price range, I would have expected more than 8 TINY bites. Another table leaves, and they tell us how great the food is there. My son liked his pasta, my daugther liked her She-Crab soup, my other son liked his chicken nuggets. My husband and I both had the Taste of Louisiana, which was a cup of jambalya, a cup of saucy tails (crawfish tails), and a cup of gumbo & 3 oysters. My husband thought that the gumbo was really good, as he went to school in Louisiana, he said the roux was very good. For me basically everything was just ok, I guess when you're in the hospitality business you notice every little thing. For example. the alligator bites came on a HUGE plate, didn't look very appealing, a small dish w/lettuce and the sauce on the side would have been a much nicer presentation. The Taste of Louisiana dish that both my husband and I ordered would get a ZERO rating for presentation. Good food is one thing and is very important, but when it is presented well, it REALLY does make a difference. Obviously no thought goes into food presentation. The place was almost empty, so why was there slow service? But, on the up side Beau was a real sweetheart, he was definitely the highlight durng our meal. Pros: Our server Beau was great, a really nice guy Cons: Slow service, zero rating for food presentation more

Pretty Good Food! 6/12/2007

I really enjoy going to the Big Easy. The good is pretty good and very close to what Cajun should taste like. I would go back. Pros: Great Cajun flavors-Awesome crab cake and alligator Cons: Not enough alligator more

Terrible hostess 5/14/2007

After searching City Search for a few fun places to attend after graduation I came across The Big Easy. Perfect, no reservations, fun drinks and food, etc. etc? Warning you will run into the worlds most unprofessional hostess when you enter their front door. It was pouring down rain outside and all the lady could do was yell at us for not making a reservation for a party of 6. What were we thinking? I was thinking the website said no reservations required. The topper was during a trip to the ladies room I took a peak in the back to find 4 open tables. Very disappointing, so we moved on and they have lost our business and our friends business forever. Pros: Great Drinks Cons: Poor Staff more

New Favorite for a displaced Cajun! 3/9/2007

Being born and raised in Lousiana makes it difficult to find food ""worthy"" of praise in other parts of the US, but this restaurant is well deserving of the praise. I had become so tired of trying restaurants that claimed to be ""Authentic Cajun"" food and then being a COMPLETE joke that I almost missed this awesome food. What a loss that would have been for me. The service and decor is a little more ""upscale"" than the average hang out on Bourban Street, but the food was as authentic as it comes. For all you other displaced cajuns in the Triangle, this is the place. The jambalya doesn't get any better than this! Don't miss out on this awesome food out of frustration of all the wanna be cajun resturants. THIS IS THE REAL DEAL! Pros: Awesome Authentic Cajun Food - Jambalya doesn't get much better than this! Cons: Didn't experience any cons more

Great new addition to Raleigh...but....needs some... 3/2/2007

Needs something more. I really liked the look and feel of the place. Three of us sat at the bar, had drinks and dinner. The service was quick, but unenthusiastic. I don't mind that type of service later in the evening when its just about drinking and hanging out, but during the dinner hour, the bar staff may want to remember why they get tips. One should not walk away when three people are trying to order, especially when it appears that nothing prompted him. Pros: Cool space, drinks, food, prices Cons: bar service, no music, parking more
