This is a very authentic Irish pub in downtown( government center area). They always have a fab beer selection with a few taps that rotate which is rare in Boston. They also have ...

Worst service ever. It took almost two hours for us to get our food!

Terrible Service 10/16/2010

The Kinsale has some of the worst service I have ever seen. Our waiter completely forgot one of our orders and never returned to ask whether we wanted more drinks. After about 20 minutes of no service, I went up to the bar to buy a drink for a friend who was sitting there, and our waiter came up to me to tell me that it was very rude to order a drink from the bar while we were sitting at a table. He stormed off and ignored our table for the rest of the night. When we got the bill, we noticed that he had automatically added an 18% gratuity. If you go to the Kinsale, don't bother getting a table, and just sit at the bar. The service is awful. more

dogfishhead 3/4/2010

This is a very authentic Irish pub in downtown( government center area). They always have a fab beer selection with a few taps that rotate which is rare in Boston. They also have Dogfishhead 90 min on tap which is super yummy and super rare. The bartenders aren't very nice, but that could have just been one woman's' bad day, multiple times lol. Kind of a hidden spot but definitely worth the stop! Pros: dogfishhead Cons: tenders more

Not Good Service, Food 8/5/2009

I went to Kinsale two times for lunch and both times I had bad experiences. I sat at 1 PM for lunch and didn't get a salmon salad until 1:45 PM. Then another day I wanted to order from the bar to go - the woman was rude and dismissive. Also, the host was busy engaging in gossip to notice that I was sitting at the bar for 10 minutes before getting attended to - oh, did I mention this was not even peak time? I decided to never go to Kinsale again! Cons: Bad Service, Rude more

Great service 11/29/2008

Really nice restaurant! The food was very good and the service was great. I recommend you give it a try. Pros: Ambience , food and service. more

Classic example of a upscale bar! 2/13/2008

I've gone to this place a roughly 6 times during the past 12 months and have found their food and service to be exceptional. The place offers a variety of beers that you can't get elsewhere and they constantly change their selection. If someone doesn't like the prices of their menu then they can go someplace else, but the food as always been good and clean. I recomend this place if you want to have a good beer that and a comfortable atmoshphere. The bartenders are very nice and are always approachable and fun to talk with. Def recommend this place if you like irish bars with a twist. Also the seating style in the bar is almost parallel to pubs in ireland that i have been to. Pros: beer selection and food quality Cons: there aren't any really...who doesn't like good beer? more

Bad food, worse service 8/17/2007

Let's begin with the positive: the interior of the bar is quite evocative, with lots of stone, wood, and large murals. The beer list at the Kinsale is nice, not extravagantly pricey, and changes often. Pros: Beer Cons: Service, food, value more

Great place, but too loud 9/28/2006

I've been to the Kinsale a few times, and i've felt differently each time. The first time, the place was dead... and the music too loud. The second time, not too busy and sitting outdoors was lovely. The third time, busy on the bar side with trivia... with music that was too loud. And my most recent visit, super busy... but we were seated promptly. The service was excellent and I really enjoyed my burger. My friend's burger was a bit too rare for him, but overall we had a good time. The only thing that could have made our experience better? Turn down the volume. There is no need to blast all that noise in the bar. more

Feels formulaic 8/3/2006

I've been here for happy hour and at night on the weekends. I consistently felt ignored by the waitstaff and the food I've had is not good. At all. The beer list isn't that great, it leans on the pretentious side and omits the standards. It feels like it was an Irish Pub concept that some restauranteur had. The outdoor patio furniture is amazing though, when it's actually nice enough to sit outside. Pros: Location Cons: Service, Food more

Great laidback pub 10/22/2005

The bartenders here are really friendly, and they've got a great selection of beers. I really like the live music, and on Friday and Saturday nights it's usually not very crowded. more

I love this place! 9/14/2005

I work near the Kinsale and love to meet friends there for dinner. The food is delicious and a fantastic value. My favorite meal is the Kinsale Burger with fries and a beer. They do burgers so well here. I've also had several of their entrees and they always exceed my expectations. You would think a pub style restaurant would not have the best food, but the Kinsale delivers excellence every time. Their desserts are delicious as well and definitely large enough for sharing. Awesome selection of beers on tap and great atmosphere with Celtic art and carved wood. For a beer, burger and fries you will rarely spend more than $20. Great deal! Pros: burgers, fries, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Good for a quickie 4/15/2004

Not a bad place, although we didn't stay long because of the service. The hostess and busboys were OK, but thats about it. It was kindof crowded, but not overly. The drink prices were a bit outrageous...considering what they had to offer. The last place I had a $9 mixed drink it came in a big scorpian bowl, not a small glass. Sum up: not worth your money.l Pros: near T Cons: , prices ($$$) more

Great Pub 3/1/2004

I have been working in Government Center for a few years now and I love going to the Kinsale with my friends after work. The staff is extremely friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. I just tried their new menu and I must say that it is great to see food of this quality in an Irish Pub, and at a very good price. Check out Thursday nights, best after work hang out in the city, you can't go wrong. Pros: Staff, Menu, Atmosphere more

Bad food across the board 8/12/2003

This is a good looking place. The drinks are reliable. There is a decent beer-on-tap selection, I guess, but then, what bar in Boston doesn't these days?? Except for the wings, pretty much everything on the menu here is subpar. The wings are not stellar, by the way, but at least they are passable. Service is uneven. What friend-of-the-owner got all his friends to vote this the Best in Boston? There is no way it is best. Except for the cool wooden furniture that was imported from Ireland. That is nice. Pros: Cozy wooden furniture, Nice bar Cons: Food, Service sometimes more

Hot Wait Staff! 11/23/2002

The service was ""extra"" friendly and I couldn't be happier with our waitress. The food was great- don't try to make the herb loaf at home:( The band actually rocked the hiz-ouse and they let me sing a song or two. Kinsale lives up to its Irish Pub Title. Pros: Parking Validation, Band, No Cover more

Live Music is always a plus 8/14/2002

We went there as a group of ten and had a great time. There was live music which was nice too. The service wasn't great as the waiter thought he would show off by not writing anything down, but he was trying so hard to remember everything that he lacked a personality. The Whiskey Steak special was very small, although I did leave full as a result of the awesome cocannon garlic potatos and steam veggies. Other dishes were not out of this world, but they were tasty. Pros: live music, decor Cons: portions more

Best Fish and Chips!!! 7/20/2002

Go here for a great lunch- beer battered fish and have an imported irish beer to boot. Great Food and Fun atmoshpere! more
