Best

I love this place. I especially love the Thai Spaghetti!!! It's small and it gets crowded, but the service is good.

Worst

I think the food is average to above for the money. The problem here is that they will change

Avoid Thai Kitchen 3/26/2004

Orange grease dominated my dish. It was so prevalent that the grease was oozing off the edges of the plate onto the table. The small portioned tasteless food was permeated by the grease and lacked not only traditional Thai heat but traditional Thai flavor, or, for that matter, any flavor. We have eaten in Thai restaurants around the country. There are great places in NY and San Fran, but also in Sedona (Tara Thai) and Albuquerque (Thai Ginger). All it takes is a good chef, and clearly Thai Kitchen does not have one. It was not only bad Thai food, it was bad food. The service was adequate, ambiance medicore, and prices were nominal for dinner but high for what was served. Skip this place. There are other Thai places on the same street. I haven't eaten in them yet, but they must be better than this one. more

Authentic, but... 12/28/2003

If you want authentic Thai food in Austin, this is pretty much your only choice. I wouldn't be exaggerating to say my dad has been to well over a thousand Thai restaurants in his time, and this is where he goes to when he's in Austin. Me, on the other hand, I'm a 2nd generation, and I don't go here. An overabundance of lemongrass, coconut, and general sweetness in cooking turns me off, though these are some of the hallmarks of Thai cooking. The food's alright in my opinion, but doesn't get my palate to watering and there's precious little selection of Thai food in Austin, so I recommend you give it a shot. more

expensive cheap food 11/25/2003

Their food tastes cheap and the price does not reflect the quality. A restaurant near campus will make many broke students to dine here, and that's their trick. Their menu consists of many dishes that tastes the same: spicy or coconutty. Their dumplings should be dumped out of the menu. more

Great Thai Food 8/25/2003

Thai Kitchen has really great food. The service is quick and the price is right. I love their Chicken Fried Rice- it is done PERFECTLY. That is the main reason that I go there- the fried rice. Pros: Chicken Fried Rice, Cheap more

Good Thai 11/27/2002

This is the best Thai food that I've found in Austin. The selection is excellent and the food is sure to please. Lunch specials are very affordable and the lemongrass soup is awesome. Check out their ""Chef's Special"" section on the dinner menu. With entrees named ""Never again"" and ""Atomic Shrimp"" there's bound to be something for that hot food lover in the group. Pros: Good food more
