Avoid the lunch hour 2/18/2008

This restaurant was renovated early in the summer of 2007. I longed for the reopening later in the summer months to find that others were as anxious as I was for a larger space with more seating. I have been here during the lunch hour four times and dinner twice since the grand reopening and have found consistency on all visits. Pros: Good Thai food for southwest suburban Houston Cons: Slow/erratic service and seating more

We had to leave after one and half hour because they forgot our order 12/8/2007

I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!! Pros: Location Cons: Small, Crowded, Bad service,Long wait, more

Awful service! 12/6/2007

The service was terrible, we had 6 people in our party, they serviced two people and once they were half way done they service two others, then the fifth person and then they forgot my food. The waitress never came to our table after we ordered. We had to find someone to tell them we were missing my plate. They had the wrong items on the bill and over charged. Two of us had the same chili basil chicken, but you couldn't tell... our plates looked totally different. I will never go back and I'll be sure to let everyone know how awful it was. Pros: Close to work Cons: service, food not that great more

I must've eaten something totally different from other reviewers' and critics' 4/24/2007

I was not sure why this place garnered awards from the critics and excellent reviews from other people, but I had these observations and reservations. Satays were not grilled! I lived in Thailand for 3 years and southeast asian satays were always grilled. Because it took longer to grill, many Thai restaurants in Houston took shortcuts by pan-frying (greasy meat), boiling (dry meat) or boiling and then put on the grill in order to obtain the grill marks (insulting meat). Its TomYum soup had too much fish sauce and not enough pepper (for kick), lemon (for sour taste) and lemon grass (for fragrant smell). It might be sitting on the stove for too long and water evaporated. It was not bland; it was simply salty! The chickens of the main dish were boiled, not stir-fried. The chef must?ve diced the chickens when they were still frozen because they retained such pretty cubic shapes when served! From start to finish nothing about the meal was satisfactory. I felt totally cheated. Pros: None! Cons: Pretty much everything. more

Best best Thai! 3/12/2007

I love everything I've ordered here. The green and yellow curry are to die for. The pad thai, shrimp fried rice, and soup are so goooood. The portions are a bit small, but is definitely worth it. The service is great, the staff is extremely nice and helpful. Its a very cozy and warm place to have dinner with friends or even a date. No longer BYOB though. But they do have a wine list. This location is the best, you must try it if you like real and authentic thai food. Pros: Food, Service, and Location Cons: Small portions on certain items more

Best Thai Food 10/26/2006

Love the food! Everything I have tried has been exceptional! The only problem is that the restaurant is very small and crowded. You almost feel like you are dining with everyone in the restaurant! Pros: Great Food Cons: Busy/Noisy more

Great Prices 10/25/2006

The food here is great. The tom yum soup with shrimp is by far the best I've had. The shrimp pad thai is packed with flavor. The spicy beef fried rice is good too. You really get your money's worth during lunch. The prices are great and the portion size is more than what you pay for. Pros: Great food and prices Cons: Parking, closed on Sundays more

Excellent Food & Service at Affordable Prices 10/11/2006

My friends and I love Thai Cottage. Their food is all quite good. Our favorites include the chicken pad thai, chicken panang curry, beef green curry, and the chili basil beef. The spring rolls are good, and don't forget to try the soups too. The Tom Yum soup has a great flavor and is quite spicy. Their prices are really quite cheap with the average meal costing about $8-9 for a good serving size. They have even better lunch specials during the week and on Saturday, where you get a soup/salad and meal for around $6-7. The staff is really friendly too. Pros: Food, Service, Price Cons: Not open on Sunday. :-( more

Relieved to Find This Place 8/6/2006

Having been rather disappointed with most of Sugar Land's restaurants, I was delighted to find Thai Cottage. The food is fresh and full of flavor and spice! My first visit was with a friend who goes there frequently. I had the Tom Yum soup, which was a zesty balance of sweet, salty, bitter, sour and spicy. I had ordered the Pad Kee Mow with beef, a mixture of wide noodles, grilled lemongrass beef, fresh tomatoes, carrots and mint. I personally love spicy dishes and ordered it spicy #2, which was enough to make my cheeks tingle and nose run, but not drown out the flavor of the food. My friend let me try her Pad Thai, which I enjoyed as well. The interesting flavor of Pad Thai is difficult for me to explain, but tasted fresh and not like it came from a packet. We finished the meal with the fried bananas with coconut ice cream. The slices of banana were wrapped in rice paper and fried to make a delicate, crispy shell that lent a nice texture to the dessert and went well with the creamy ice cream. The staff is very friendly and service is good. I am now a regular customer. Pros: Great food, good service Cons: Small dining area more

great thai! 2/4/2006

in the mood for thai... went for lunch one saturday. it was great! the lunch menu was sooo reasonable, and the food was delicious! we got the chicken wings for an appetizer. they were crispy, and held the basil sauce perfectly. ordered the pad thai and red curry for entrees. yummy and the portions were sizeable. cant wait to go back! Pros: cheap, good food more

Thai Cottage II 6/11/2004

I have eaten everything on the lunch menu and it is all good. I must warn you about the spicyness. UNless you like your food very hot I would not recommend more than one pepper for spicyness. Their one pepper is hot enough to bring tears to you eyes. Pros: inexpensive, excellent service, good parking more

Good food 1/14/2004

Thai Cottage does have some good food, but there are other places on the Southwest side of town that have more authentic Thai food. After spending almost a year in Thailand, I have found it hard to find authentic Thai food in the states. Thai Cottage is a very good place to eat, but they have Americanized their menu a bit too much. I can't say I would not recommend it, I eat there for lunch once in awhile and enjoy the food and Thai Iced tea. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Not very Authentic more

Spicy! 8/24/2003

This is one of the best Thai restaurants in town. I would recommend going during lunch time. You have a choice of entree which comes with a salad and egg roll and you can choose from a scale how spicy you want your entree. Also, you have to try the fried banana and coconut icecream desert. Save room! Pros: Inexpensive, family owned, delicious!!!!! Cons: Parking can be tough more
