My husband and I visited this restaurant Friday night around 7:30 and were shocked that there was no wait. I ordered the ribeye and he ordered the cheese enchiladas with a side of skirt steak. Our waitress took awhile to get to us, maybe 3 to 4 minutes, and was clueless. I asked her for a straw and she stated that she did not have one, so I pointed out the one sticking out of her apron. She also took my order incorrectly, I asked for a Ceaser salad and she brought me a house salad. The steak was cooked unevenly and was a poor quality cut. My husbands enchiladas were disgusting, they were basically wolf brand chili with velveeta, ugh..The only tasty part of the meal was the unsliced bread they brought to the table before the meal. I do not recommend this place if you like a quality steak. Pros: Close to home Cons: bad food more

good steaks, BAD customer service 3/16/2009

I went late on a Saturday and it wasnt that busy. The waitress took our order for an appitizer but didnt give us appetizer plates. No straws for our drinks either. The steaks were great and so were the sides but the waitress appeared rarely. The manager came by and asked us if everything was fine.. we didnt want to say anything considering the waitress was just a couple of feet away. Terrible Customer Service/ Cold Food 2/15/2009

Absolutely awful customer service...the worst!! We waited a long time for food that was equivalent to an iHop steak (at least the steak I ordered), sat next to an empty filthy table for 45 minutes, got lip from the manager and will never ever return. Waiters are cocky and overbearing. Only some... 1/21/2009

You will either get lucky or you're out of luck with the wait staff. Carlos is the BEST waiter there and if you get anyone else, you will suffer. The waitresses I've had the last 3x I have went are rude and overbearing. They even threw my straws at me! I love the food, hate the attitude. Good luck... more

This is the best place to go to get great service, a great atmosphere and awsome steaks. The bread is outstanding and the place is very kid friendly! One of our favorite places to eat. Pros: Kid friendly, great atmosphere. Cons: Can get busy on weekend nights more

BEST STEAKHOUSE IN AUSTIN 4/22/2007

I went to this steakhouse on a Friday night and received near perfect service from my server. To just begin the experience I was greeted by the friendliest hostess and promptly seated. My husbands steak was cooked perfectly, red in the center just as he wanted and the food was served in a timley manner that allowed us to have time to dine! What a friendly and cozy atmosphere. OK food. Servers a little unprofessional. Warning on the steaks. 2/26/2007

I have been to Texas Land and Cattle in Houston several times; however, this location was just average. They cook all their steaks one level or more below what you ask for. I ordered the TXLC Signature Smoked Sirloin at lunch medium rare, and my steak came out EXTREMELY bloody and cold. I'm not talking like it was warm at one point, I'm talking it was refrigerator cold. I have had this same cut at one of the Houston locations and was very pleased--this location was not very good. I choked down a piece of it, and I would have sent it back, except that everyone else was finished eating. So, I took it home, tossed it in my skillet, and cooked it to a medium rare myself. The one major plus is their delicious spicy caesar salad. That's my FAVOURITE! Also, I can appreciate a friendly waiter, but this guy was a little slow on the uptake and a little too chummy for the type of restaurant TXLC is. Pros: Awesome spicy caesar! Cons: WAYYY undercooked steaks. more

Good value steakhouse, top quality steaks 8/21/2006

THis place rocks, nice environment, suitable for big groups, families, and dates. The food prices are very reasonable, and you get alot of food for your money here. Great T bone, so big, I did not slurp on the bone, was already satisfied by the filet and the strip. Pros: great steaks ! top quality steaks. Cons: not up to the level of Austin Cattle company, but good 2nd or 3rd more

Great Food that won't break the budget 5/23/2005

I have visited this location several times and can't wait to go back. If you like steak, order the rib eye. It is outstanding. I made the mistake of changing gears last time I was there and went with the t-bone, whihc was good, but the rib eye is out of this world. Service has always been favorable. more

Above and Beyond 8/15/2004

I recently went to the Texas Land and Cattle by Lakeline mall. At first, I was a little discouraged by the look of the place. It seemed a little to dark and they only played country music. However, I went to sit at the bar and decided to have a beer. I asked for a bottle and he told me that they have my brand of beer on tap for only a dollar. It was their happy hour. Instead of worrying about making money, the bartender took care of me. Since then, I have visited this bar many times. Not only does the bartender know my name, but he'll have a drink ready for me before I sit down. I would recommend this particular bar over any other in the Lakeline Mall area. What they lack in selection, they make up for in great service. Pros: Inexpensive, Service, Attractive bartenders Cons: , Music, No smoking more
