Way Over Priced 3/26/2012

Just like the other reviews, I agree that TCP is outrageously priced. I don't think we turned our heat on once in the last billing cycle yet our bill was still $150. Not sure how that is possible, but it's definitely a monopoly. Wish some lawyers would get involved and file a price-fixing suit. more

1 star rating is too much, how bout negative 1 star?? 10/14/2011

worst company ever, that unfortunatly has the monopoly here in the austin area. the gas price is outreageous, what is the monthly 10$ account fee for? and why does it cost an absurd 12$ to pay over the phone???? even an online payment via credit card has an almost $4 charge on it!!!! more

Even a 1 star rating is too much 2/19/2010

I have a small 1000 sq ft house, am almost never home and rarely use the heater or cook, and yet my most recent bill was an outrageous $150! If that's not insulting enough, there is no option to pay the ridiculous bill online, and to pay by phone there's an absurd $12 service fee! I looked into my options to change to another company, but Texas Community Propane is THE ONLY OPTION in my neighborhood. How is it possible in the land of antitrust laws that I have no choice in service? The next time I buy a house, I will know to research my utility options as well. Cons: outrageous rates/horrible customer service/complete monopoly more

customer service is not bad, 10/14/2009

Since I moved in my house early this year, I haven't had any trouble either on gas hook up, orientation, billing, or customer service. I do admit the orientation is a bit expensive, but it worths the money at least for me. As for the monthly account fee ($15), I think for a 24-hour no charge for show up to fix your gas leak, and maintain the pipe, this sounds reasonable. It is more like buying a gas leak warranty with no copay for service. I am not with the company, and I remain believing they are the monopoly. But since they built, and keep maintaining the pipe underneath the community, it is still reasonable for them to get some fee from their customers. Although I feel the monthly account fee can be reduced, they should deserve the 5-star rating, at least for customer service. After all, you can get rid of them and switch to all-electricity utility by changing your water heater, AC, and gas range. Pros: Good services Cons: Not to I know of more

better than most 8/17/2009

In the 3 years we have had service with TCP, I have never had a problem with service or billing that has not been immediately resolved with a phone call or email. We recently had a small leak discovered by a meter reader and within one hour they had contacted us, had a field representative out and the problem fixed. While we would have never known the difference, the customer service manager made sure we where aware and what what they where doing to rectify it. The honesty and the follow up we got in the form of an email and callback to go over any safety things or concerns we had impressed me. Never got that from a public utility anywhere else we have lived. Pros: reliable service, quick response time, local office Cons: no real option to compare in our neighborhood more

Very Helpful Staff and Exceptional Service 8/5/2009

We had some issues when we moved in to our new house in trying to get our propane set up due to some negligence on the part of the previous owner. The customer service rep at Texas Comm Propane was great in making sure we got hooked up and service on line the next day. I appreciate the time they took to go over all the safety info with us as well on premise. There appear to be several negative comments about this provider, which i assume comes with the territory, but our experience was painless and much appreciated. Pros: good focus on safety Cons: one office location more

Gas company has monopoly. 5/12/2009

First of all, its outrageous to pay a $250 dollar deposit for new accounts, plus an up front initiation fee of $95, totaling nearly $350 just to establish gas service to your home. There should be more than one Gas service to choose from so there's not a monopoly over the neighborhoods that are forced to use this company. Particularly if your home has a gas furnace. Pros: staff seem ok. Cons: There charges are outrageous! more

Texas Community Propane is one of the WORST companies I have ever come in contact with. They leave you on hold for extremely long wait times, have an incompetent rude staff, and charge $350.00 for a deposit along with a $95.00 set-up fee, not to mention their ridiculous ""meet and great"" schedule that you MUST attend during normal families working hours. This is ridiculous and because they service housing additions that CAN'T choose for themselves who they use, they basically monopolize the market and make their own rules. There is not one other propane company in Texas that charges a deposit fee of $350.00 and the very few who do charge a deposit fee keep it under $100.00. They should be ashamed of themselves and they should also know that I plan on doing EVERYTHING in my power to have our HOA give them the boot. They messed with the wrong young professional this time. To put it bluntly this company gives sub par service, has idiots for employees, and charges you 3 times the normal amount for a deposit that you have to wait 2 years to ever get back, and makes you take off work to meet one of their workers at your home to collect their check. Pros: They made me mad enough to write this, and I will have it rectified. Cons: EVERYTHNG about the company is a con. more

Avoid gas appliances on new homes if TX Community Propane is the company providing services! 6/23/2008

I have lived in Hutto 6 years and cannot believe the prices of propane in our area! Shame on the MainStreet builders and developers that struck a deal with these bandits! Yes my house payment is less , but the price of the utilities and the cost of gas for our commute is not worth it! TX Community Propane needs to be regulated, their billing system is often incorrect and we have to call for payment! Disconnect notices make it faster than the actual postcard bill! WTF is the 10.50 charge for ? Pros: always hot water Cons: billing awful price too high more

Most Expensive Gas Service 4/25/2008

The price of the gas is outrageously expensive. We have to think twice or three times in order to use our spa in the back yard. Cons: all more

There's no negative star.... 2/20/2008

After 3!! on hold times, two customer service reps (I use the term customer service rep lightly,) and an EXTRA fee, I was finally allowed to make my payment over the phone. After the HUGE deposit, the ""inspection"" hassle (which was due to the incompetence of the service rep,) the bad customer service, and the high prices; I would think that having a customer trying to make a payment would be a joyous occasion. more

find someone else to go to 1/24/2007

Texas Propane has very high deposits and low service. Don't try and carry over a balance they will shut you off and any late fee is subject to an additional full deposit, reconnect fee and any other fee they feel is necessary. Deposits are 250 for a homeowner and 300 for a renter. This is an absolute horrible company that should not even be in business. They only have one office on the far south end of Austin so if you need to make a payment in the office and live in the North you can pay at the Money Box in cash. Credit card payments are charged another 14 dollars for a service fee. Wow!! I guess we as customers are just a hassle, I wonder how much money they make off of fees and service charges? Guess I went onto the wrong business. Pros: not a single positive comment Cons: nothing but a money pit to deal with more

Extremely high administration costs 11/3/2006

Regardless of your credit history, your deposit is $250 not refundable until you close your account. There is also a $95 non-refundable set up fee and $10.50 monthly administration charge even if you do not use any propane for the month. The propane costs are extremely high and the administration office has an ""I don't want to talk to you"" attitude I highly recommend that you find another source of gas source if you can. Don't be late with a payment or they'll add another $10 to your bill. Cons: Excessive costs for administration fees more
