Truth be told, the design is nice, warm and at some level inviting. The customer are... well, for instance the lady next to me during dinner reminded me of Michael Jackson. But so...

Melt in your mouth good food! 5/4/2008

We loved our dinning experience at Terzo in large due part to the yummy food & our outstanding server Ron. The homemade pita & humus is a must have - the pita is warm & pillowy soft & the humus is creamy & flavorful. The chicken spiedini is melt in your mouth good & like nothing I have ever had. I would definitely go back to Terzo for the mouth watering foods (local & organic is always a plus!) and the terrific service (not pushy, but very attentive & knowledgable)! Pros: Greast service, tasty dishes Cons: a bit pricey for the portion size, cramped tables more

Cute place, but you might leave hungry and broke 7/18/2007

I went with two girlfriends on a Friday night before going out. We ordered what we thought would be enough food, but left very hungry by the end and had to get pizza later that night. The food was quite tasty, and the wine list was better than average, but the prices are way too high for the amount of food on the plates. I would only recommend this place if you were going out for a glass of wine and an appetizer BEFORE you go out to eat elsewhere. Pros: Cozy atmosphere, Unique menu Cons: Really small plates, Pricey more

Great Small Plates 7/7/2007

I love this place! I realize some people wrote they had a bad experience, however I loved my meal so much I had to write. The ambience and service was good. I don't drink wine but my firends liked theirs fine. more

Excellent food that costs way too much 6/30/2007

Excellent food, lovely cozy atmosphere, friendly service, but the prices!!! Terzo takes the ""small plate"" concept to a whole new level. The plate are REALLY small, which is nice because you can try many different things, but they should really adjust the pricing. We enjoyed all of the food we ordered (except the Chicken Spiedini which was horrible and inedible), but we didn't eat nearly enough to justify our bill. If price is no option to you, then I'd recommend the Hand Cut Noodles and the Sea Bass, in particular. Both were amazing. Pros: Excellent, unique dishes Cons: Small dishes at huge prices more

Overpriced wine list! 6/27/2007

Buyer beware! Unfortunately, this is another San Francisco restaurant overcharging for their wine. No, I don't mind if restaurants charge 2x to 2.5x retail for their high end wine or even 2.5x to 3x retail for their low end wine. But more than 4x retail. . .absolutely unacceptable. See for yourself. Their $40 bottle of Quinta de Cabriz can be found via several online retailers at less than $10, the lowest being $6.99. I won't be going back until they change their wine pricing policy. Oh, and by the way, they also have a $25 corkage fee. That's extortion if you ask me. Pros: Waiter was nice to my girlfriend and I Cons: Overpriced Wine List! more

Best Tapas and best Bartender in SF 5/20/2007

I've been in town for over 80 years and I have got to say that Terzo is far and away the best wine and Tapas joint in town. You cannot replicate the food and service you get from the chef co-owner Mark Gordon and his professional staff --especially Michael the bartender. Michael made my dining experience worth the half hour search for parking. His charm and wit made my whole evening. Pros: Great food and great service -- especially the bartender, Michael Cons: Imagine my surprise when I found that all the wait staff had shirts on! Tapas, not Topless! more

Loud music, mediocre staff, less than average food 4/21/2007

Truth be told, the design is nice, warm and at some level inviting. The customer are... well, for instance the lady next to me during dinner reminded me of Michael Jackson. But some people like that. So ok, let's talk food... wait no. Let's talk ""turn the $^$%$%$ bad music down""! The music and the food don't go together -- to the owner: have someone else pick the music and turn it down. I realize you're trying to turn tables and would rather folks came in, ate and left quickly, but seriously, we skipped desert because of it. Pros: great place to spend a lot for a little... also great place to find the address of a plastic surgeon (if you're into Michael jackson) Cons: music too loud!, butter is the 'secret' ingredient, preparations are dull, Small plates, mediocre staff more

Hold the salt! 3/7/2007

I really wanted to love this restaurant, but the food was so salty it was almost unbearable. Even something simple like sea bass with garbanzo beans was drenched in what I am sure was an organic, mediteranean sea salt of provenance. I'd rather eat at A16 for wonderful italian food, or Coco500 for modern small plates. Or even Roses Cafe across the street is a better choice. more

Wonderful Tapas, Phenomonal Staff, Great Wines 10/31/2006

One of my favorite places in the neighborhood. The staff is friendly and welcoming, the wines are wonderful and perfect for the food. The food is everything you'd want in a neighborhood restaurant. Terzo is great to walk over to for a glass of wine and a light dinner after work and it's perfect for a dinner out with friends. I can't say enough good about this restaurant! Pros: Delicious Tapas, Excellent Wine Selection, Pretty Room Cons: getting very popular and can be crowded on a weekend more

Great food, plain and simple. 9/15/2006

Anyone who complains about the portions here does not understand Tapas; they're meant to be small and shared. Two of us had five items: Hummus, Ranch beef, Chicken, Bruschetta, and a side of Onion Rings. They were all delicious and served appropriately together (not all at once). It was also enough food, and I was hungry! I've read people thought the beef was bland. That's why the chef serves green onions with it. It makes the beef; it was a perfect combination. The chicken spiedieri was a little spicy for me, but very tasty and I do recommend it. The service was great. Not a single complaint all the way around (food/service). And please, fine food, fine service, and fine decor is not cheap. This isn't McDonalds. Yes, they don't serve bread automatically. They're helping you save your appetite for the real food. Pros: great food, excellent service Cons: pricey, but hey... more

Top-notch design... 9/10/2006

Restaurant design is superb. (Local architect Cass Calder Smith) Modern and elegant. Service is fantastic. The menu is well crafted, however, if the menu is taking any cues from the new small plates restaurants in Europe, there are a couple of things that need work. Pros: Design, ambiance Cons: poor value, some bland items more

Expensive, small portions, bad service 9/7/2006

This place is overrated. By small, they really mean small, and meals are unimaginative. Our server was very disruptive - kept coming over and even took our check before we left the table. We felt rushed. They don't bother providing any descriptions in their wine list and our server could not answer any questions on different wines. All in all, save your $ and go elsewhere. more

Simply Perfect 8/10/2006

What a perfect dining experience. The decor, service, food and wine were all that I had expected from the rave reviews my friends and friends of friends had passed along. I will be back again and again. more

Excellent selection, great atmosphere 8/10/2006

I ate here last night and really enjoyed myself. The variety is superb. We started with the figs and ended with the midnight cake. The best item sampled was the eggplant parmasean. This was a wonderful way to explore several different cuisines at one sitting. This would be a perfect date place for the person who just can't decide which cuisine- it has something for everyone! Pros: Great selection Cons: Maybe a bit loud more

Excellence from start to finish! 8/8/2006

From start to finish this was an excellent dining experience. My wariness of the Marina/Cow Hollow ambiance was quickly diminished by the welcoming manager who sat us right away at an outside table (there are heaters). Our server was awesome and made excellent recomendations on both food and wine. Must try the Tomato Tart (with a divine flaky crust), the Niman Ranch Beef (a particularly generous portion), the fancy onion rings, and the BEST green been and tomato salad. Yum Yum. Dessert was also yummy, the summer berry crumble with peach and plum compote was just right. The atmosphere is very comfortable and welcoming and the food perfects the whole package. I look forward to returning very soon. more

Average dining in Cow Hollow 8/6/2006

Food, prices, atmosphere, service; all average. Wish I could offer lip service, but objectively speaking, it's just a nice restaurant. more

Amazing Food, great prices, outstanding service, perfection... 7/23/2006

I was thoroughly impressed by just about everything about Terzo. Yes, portions are small and meant for sharing, but: 3 people, 2 drinks each, 9 dishes plus 2 desserts = $57 per person including tax & 20+% tip. And we left full and completely satisfied. Pros: Absolutely delicious, fantastic ambiance, perfect service Cons: parking, not for people who like hearty portions more

Great Atmosphere and Service 7/17/2006

Small plates that are done well. Ask for the servers recommendation because they know what they are talking about. I love Terzo. The hummus and pita plate is wonderful. I couldn't get enough. The french fried onion strings are amazing and I highly recomend the sausage and polenta. A bit pricey, but the service and food make up for it. Not a place for someone who enjoys enormous portions. Pros: Great food, ambiance and service Cons: a bit pricey for the portion more

Save your cash 6/19/2006

Wow. I have never felt more gipped by a quasi dining experience. Small plates is right - but seriously... My boyfriend and I had the most deliciously non-existent meal here. $70 for ONE drink each and 3 miniscule portions. Now we're not afraid to spend some $ for a nice dining experience - but we also know when we've been completley ripped off. Pros: fancy name Cons: rip-off more
