Cons: the worst experience in a :BUTTON STORE"" more

Buttons Exquisite and Unusual 11/22/2008

Buttons, buttons, buttons galore from antique to contemporary, simply the most exquisite and unusual shop devoted entirely to buttons. Oh, I love Tender Buttons! Pros: Everything thumbs up! Cons: No drawbacks more

Amazing Buttons! 5/11/2008

Tender Buttons may be a small store but they have an extensive collection of buttons. Be prepared to bring cash, for they do not accept credit or debit cards. The buttons were, for the most part, on the expensive side. I walked out with a small bag that contained $200 worth of buttons. ( and i don't regret it!) The collections that hang on the wall can be $150+ each. Their buttons are great quality and whatever it is your looking for you can be sure you will find it there! They have even more buttons in the back in addition to the ones you see on the floor. The men that were there were extremely nice once i began talking to them. Remember your in New York City..often times people don't approach you for conversation. But the experience was great and I got buttons that I could not get back home. I will definitely visit Tender Buttons during my next visit to Manhattan! more

Awful, awful experience 4/14/2008

I can guarantee two things if you choose to visit this shop - (i) to find an inventory, albeit expensive, that is fairly extensive and (ii) to be treated like garbage. Without a doubt, this is the worst retail experience I have had in the city. The woman whom I encountered, who turned out to be the manager, was nasty AND unhelpful. She did not get out of her chair when I asked for recommendations for buttons for my coat. I was told to ""just look around."" When I tried to show her a picture of the same coat, she said, ""why are you showing me this?"" When I asked to speak with the manager, she informed me she was the manager and that my complaint was a result of ""misunderstanding."" How kind of her. I would suggest to the owner to fire this woman, as she has ruined twice for me a store that is a real gem in terms of offerings. Based on the other views, clearly I am not alone more

Fabulous Buttons! 9/1/2005

I have visited this shop many times as I am a button nut and have always been treated with the utmost courtesy and patience. They have a wonderful collection of every imaginable kind of button, both old and new. There are gorgeous buttons that I didn't even know existed. It is a treat to stop in this shop everytime I am in New York. Pros: great selection, very helpful more

Terrible Service 1/31/2005

The sign and the woman at the other end of the phone says they close at 6, but they lock the door about 15 minutes before that and were leaving at about 5 to six with the lights out. They wouldn't let me in at 5:50. They should say they close at 5:30 because that is closer to the truth. Don't know about the product, never got close to it. Pros: Don't know Cons: Bad service more

Rude, Rude, Rude! 2/2/2004

Very poor service and attention to the customer. Store looked nice however, I wasn't given a chance to look at the merchandise! I was told that they were ""closing in 5 minutes""! There is a lot that can be done in 5 minutes, finding buttons for a coat is one of them!, especially since I knew exactly what I was looking for! Shame on them for not giving the customer the benefit of the doubt! Pros: location, selection Cons: , hours of operation, staff more

Wonderful Selection 3/8/2003

Wow, what a neat place. You will love the layout and selection. Buttons from all over, well organized and laid out. Service is excellent, so you won't mind paying that little extra to find just what you need. more
