This is an email that I sent to the manager of TEN today.
We arrived at about 6pm, really excited and happy to send our friend off with a nice going away celebration. The smiles quickly vanished when we had to deal with an unhappy hostess. The bar area was full, so we asked to be seated in the dining area. The hostess made quite a few comments in regards to the rules of sitting in the dining area and stated twice that we could not have happy hour in the dining area. She said that if we sat there we would have to order full meals, which was fine, but her attitude was very less than cordial. Money was not an issue, so it was quite rude of her to assume we were not expecting to spend money. She also mentioned that we should have made reservations, but that they would seat us anyways and then again said we should have made reservations. We were thinking what the heck; does she want us to leave??? We decided to stay anyway because others were going to meet us there.
Ten is down the street from our office and we often have a few drinks and appetizers after work and have really grown quite fond of the place, but last night was less than desirable service.
They put three tables together near the long couch and we commented that we might have a few more people join us; the hostess immediately responded that it was unlikely that we could get another. The restaurant area was completely empty with the exception of a couple of tables, so the comment seemed unnecessary. The CEO of our company was with us, and it was embarrassing to have her go through that experience. After being seated she stayed 15 min and left, she was disappointed. We on the other hand stayed and had a good time. The upside of the evening was that out waitress Jamie was EXCELLENT?EXCELLENT. Quite honestly, she is one of the best servers I have ever had.
Thanks.
