Simply very mean Greek owners part 2 9/8/2012

Hi I submitted a review but it wasn't complete, I wanted to tell people that I declined my position after 2 days because I really did not think I would enjoy working there and did not want to be treated that way for any amount of $ so I called the owner told him this and he spit out some very nasty words to me and hung up. I was very happy with the decision I made after that! I feel so relieved and am very fortunate I seen all this before I spent too my h time training etc. I wouldn't go back to eat its overpriced and nothing special at all. I see it as a waste of time, money and putting myself in an uncomfortable atmosphere I rather go to Applebee's it's not worth it at all, the owners isn't even charming with his guests it really makes me wonder how the place is surviving, although I did hear it wasn't doing so great with other competitors in the area. I'm really glad I didn't waste much time there. more

No view, overpriced, nothing special 9/8/2012

Im sorry but there is NO view the trees are completely in the way the only view is out a big window looking at the parking lot and trees are in the way of viewing the river! Lol what a joke these reviews are, moreso the staff are quick to serve you 2-4 courses hound you to get the next course in you it's not relaxed, no music playing, the decor looks dingy , the mints at the front are dusty and stale, just to add to a few things some of these reviews are raving about it makes me laugh , not true at all, a total waste of time and your hard earned money. Go to vissagios or rock bass instead!! All a mile down from tavern. more

Simply very mean greek owners 9/8/2012

Hi I worked at this place for only 2 days and I just want anyone who may waste there time seeking employment not to bother, first I was hired and told I had to purchase my own uniform from "new" non sneaker shoes to a vest that I spent days looking for to pants a white taylored dress shirt apron etc, I show up my first day excited as It is fine dining and I have done this type of work before knowing the $$ tips are awesome! I had my entire uniform on dressed to impress found all the pieces finally and was very excited to begin, first day I asked who I give my ID a d SS card to to claim my wages and get my hourly minimum wage training rate? The bartender chuckled and said good luck, you can try to get what your owed but he will not pay you! I said what?!!! She said he has ways of getting around it! Because what we make in tips in a day will make up for what he's responsible to pay! I did not understand that wasn't sure it was true and just figured I'd find out more later and ask the owner. Second day, I witnessed the owner "lucky" treating many servers very mean! He ignored questions from 2 servers, I heard one ask if he should use crystal or glass, he turned around glared at him turned back to his newspaper snapped it and ignored him , the server asked politely "sir would you like me to use crystal for the guests?" lucky starred at him got up and walked away, it was very disturbing to watch. Also observed a girl that's been there for over a month not make any money at all she has a daughter who is really sick and works 3 jobs, she is only allowed ONE table after a month!! The staff seems as though there all walking on egg shells, noone appears relaxed , charming , no personality it's very odd, I decided after only 2 days that I would look for other work and take my expertise somewhere it's appreciated to a place I could actually make a living in and not witness and be around such nastiness , I have worked for many many Greeks I've seen nothing like this! He almost seems as though he has mental problems, I called more

Tavern on the Hill 8/14/2006

This "old-school" restaurant serves delicious lamb and crabcakes and touts an extensive wine list. Service is very good and a sommelier weaves among the customers to help them with their wine selections--if they so desire. The interior is spacious, not cramped and if you sit in the "front" (near the bar), you will have a very nice view of the outside through the gigantic window. One particular appetizer I recommend is the beef tenderloin with the pepper oil. more

The place for a special night! 8/26/2005

The first time I went here was for my one year dating anniversary with my now husband. He blindfolded me and drove me there, got me out of the car and then took off the blindfold. At night, it's beautiful. There are white christmas lights and greenery against large picture windows and a cute little building with a spectacular view of the Susquehanna River. The service is impeccable there. You never have to wait much less ask for just about anything you want or need. They have a wine list that I don't think is rivaled probably anywhere in the area. We've been there several times since. If you want to make a night special, this is definitely the place to go. more

Fancy Restaurant 8/19/2005

Tavern on the Hill is a very fancy restaurant. We only go there for very special occasions because the prices are pretty high. However, the food is fantastic and so is the service. The servers treat you really well. They have a wide variety of food, including seafood, steaks, pasta, chicken and beef. They also have excellent appetizers and desserts. It is a really classy place and the décor is beautiful. more
