Best

Taipei 1960 in Champion Forest has great food and service. Food is always fresh and employee are always friendly.

Worst

The last time I was there, we ordered salmon sushi. It looked weeks old, as if it was taken out of the trashcan out back and put on our plate. I asked to speak with the manager,...

We have eaten here for 7 years. We order take out some days and dine in others. We have always had a great experience. more

A great place, delivery no good 12/11/2009

I always eat here because the food is excellent, but the service is horrible. Honestly I replace this place with Pei Wei and Waza. At least those places have great service and good food. Last time I ordered food for delivery they messed up and delivered the wrong food. I ordered crispy tofu and they sent me some beef and chicken stuff. When I called to complain I had to go through 4 people until someone understood me. Then she said ok ok I call driver to send you right food. Then they called back saying that the crispy tofu was a little different now, like I don't know the difference between tofu and meat! On top of that they offered no apologies or steps to fix it. The only time I've gotten good service is the when I come back after I've tipped enormously before hand and get the same waiter. Sigh. Pros: Best food, great quality, great chef Cons: Bad service, speak little english, delivery more

Avoid this place at all costs 5/27/2008

The last time I was there, we ordered salmon sushi. It looked weeks old, as if it was taken out of the trashcan out back and put on our plate. I asked to speak with the manager, who turned out to be the owner, and she told us that nothing was wrong with it, and they would not replace it. Cons: deplorable sushi more

Nice Ambiance, Great Prices, Pretty Good Sushi 4/18/2007

I just moved to the Spring area, and had been looking for a sushi restaurant with prices that weren't too outrageous. Taipei left a to-go menu on my doorstep one night, so I looked through it and was shocked at their deals (wednesday night 25% off sushi/ happy hour) and their great sushi prices. Pros: Great Prices, Fresh Sushi, Friendly Staff Cons: Mediocre to Pretty Good Sushi more

Quoted incorrectly but worth it. 2/13/2007

Ordered Delivery from them. Never have ate there before. Placed the delivery at 6 pm and was not delivered till 7, even though i was quoted 30 minutes. The crab Puffs were great, Skewer Beef was cold, but the mongolian beef is FABULOUS. Great flavor. Definately will order again!! Pros: Mongolian Beef Cons: Time quoted incorrect, some food cold more

Average...just not impressive. 10/27/2006

I eat sushi with my husband at least twice a week. We went to Taipei after a co-worker mentioned this was one of the only places in the area to get both sushi/Chinese food. My husband and i were not very impressed the 1st time we went, but decided to give try them out again. That will probably ber our last, not that it was bad food, but there are too many good places for me to pay for mediocre food. I admit - we are also pretty picky being Chinese and spending 5 years in Japan. After several attempts in this area (PF Chang's opening up recently as well) for Asian fusion, we are going to stick to our favorite - Cafe Empress near Willowbrook Mall. Pros: Nicer than typical Chinese restaurants Cons: Food wasn't that impressive more

Very Good!! 3/1/2006

This is a great place to get sushi in the 1960 area. I have been to MANY sushi restaurants across Houston and you won't find a sushi place any better. The prices are reasonable, the sushi is fresh, and the staff is very friendly. They have a great happy hour on their sushi from 3-6pm everyday. I highly recommend this place over the others on 1960. more

Best Sushi Bar in the 1960 area hand down 11/23/2005

I've been to Taipei twice and sat at the sushi bar both times. I've found the chef's to be very welcoming and professional. The food was very fresh and was prepared in a timely manner. I've been to two or three other sushi bars in the 1960 area and I've found that Taipei beats them all hands down in a one on one taste test. Taipei also has the best value for your dollar. I've found that if I order two signature rolls and a seaweed salad I'm more then satisfied, compared to the other restaurant in the area where I would order three or four rolls before I started looking for the check. Pros: price is right, large sushi rolls, great signature rolls more
