Tasty Mexican Food Still Dissapoints 9/27/2005

Poor Tacos Morelos, or Morelos Fresh Mexican Grill as the sign says. The food there is amazingly good, and authentic. They just can't seem to get it "right" though. I went in there the other day, for the first time, desiring true Baja Fish Tacos. I asked the server, "do you have BAJA fish tacos", and he said yes. So I asked again "The real BAJA style, with cabbage & white sauce" and he replied back again, yes. I said, ok serve me up an order, to go. And he did, for $12 bucks. YIKES!!! I took them back to my office only to be sorely dissapointed. There was fish, and they were tacos. But the certainly wasn't what I was asking for. The tortillas were soggy and ripped apart from all the juice from the Pico De Gallo sauce. And instead of being authentic Baja style tacos, they were just some sort of whitefish, in cubes, smothered to within an inch of their fishy little lives in guacamole. This is not the place to go if you want real Baja style fish tacos. Or great service. Or a good price. But if you like guacamole, check it out for sure more

Pretty good food, but pricey! 9/24/2005

We have a Taco Morelos at the Hub in Richfield. I love mexican food so I was anxious to try it. The food was good, but it is very pricey! Especially for lunch. When I went they only had 1 special of the day, no regular lunch specials. The cost was around $8-9.00/meal. The way that I got around it is I just order 2 tacos ala carte! Then the cost is around 3.50-4.00 (its been awhile so I dont remember exactly). I always order them California style which adds lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. What I really love about it is that their soft shell tacos are CORN tortillas not flour! They double shell them and fill it with lots of stuff, so really you can take the extra shell off and fill it with some of the stuff and get twice as much! Ok, so I am cheap! Good food, but a lot of work to make the price reasonable! more

Great food, bad serivce 8/21/2005

We went to Morelos Grill last night and the food really was wonderful. The only problem was that our server seemed to be the only one serving the dinner crowd (about 7 pm). She brought me the wrong dish, and didn't come back with my side of sour cream AT ALL (which I asked her for twice). It took 20 minutes to track her down to get the food I actually ordered. We will try it again, but I sincerely hope they add more servers for the dinner crowd, because our experience would have been much more pleasant had we been able to get the correct food and sides in a timely manner. more

Celebrated Mexican 8/18/2005

This place which is located in the heart of eat street, has evolved so much. They now have two other locations. The shrimp cocktail, which was a bargain before local media started bestowing awards, is awesome. Lots of shrimp and chunks of avocado in a tangy red sauce. This is now $11. The fish tacos, made from orange roughy are great tasting and are filling. It is topped with pico de gallo and guacamole with a generous amount of fish which is not breaded thank god. And most importantly, it is served on a corn tortilla not flour. For $3 bucks, this is a great deal. The burritos are huge but they are quite disappointing. A local national chain that specializes in burritos has more flavor. The margaritas are about $6 and not strong. Overall, since it first opened, not so good. more
