I can't say enough good things about Mr. Wernick. I had two items from my mother's estate that needed to be appraised, a diamond ring and a diamond pendant. T. D., as he likes to be called, spent the better part of an hour fully explaining the techniques of appraisal and showing me and my wife exactly how he arrives at a given value. After appraising our items he patiently explained the various ways we might sell them if we ever choose to. He provided thorough documentation of the results of the appraisal. He is very witty and obviously very knowledgable. He encourages questions and is always available if you have follow up issues or questions. I found a bracelet in my yard today and wanted to find out what it might be. I opened the Austin yellow pages to the jewelers and as if were predestined, my eyes came upon the name of Mr. Wernick. I dialed his number and came upon a person of great persona, explained everything , gave me advise at length, and I felt as if I had known him forever. You just don't find many if any, . who are so accommodating , so I really appreciated his time and knowledge given to me . I will certainly recommend him to my friends for anything they need or want to know about jewelry because if you looked in a dictionary under, a good man to talk to, his name would be at the top of the list. Recently, I had an issue with some jewelery I bought and had looked around for an appraiser. I found T.D.'s number and gave him a call late at night expecting to leave a call back message. But, not only did Mr. Wernick answer the phone, he was friendly and very informative. He knows his business and he gave me an assesssment that that was honest and hilarious. His advice helped me make the right decision about my jewelery and for all future references, I would not buy anything without asking him first. T.D. T.D. is, in my opinion, is one of the last of his kind. Right up there with doctors who make house calls. The level of personalized service we receive every time we contact him is just astounding. He goes out of his way to find us exactly what we're looking for - however obscure or mainstream. And not only that, but he is connected to all the right people from coast-to-coast, and can literally get ANYTHING you're looking for. T.D. is one of the last true experts in the jewelry industry, and the only true expert I've ever met in Austin. If you're looking for the best and most accurate appraisal, or the perfect gift, he's the only jeweler you should call. To be fair, if you generally shop at Zales, he's probably not what you're looking for. But if you're looking for impeccable quality and service, he's the man. Amazing. Finally someone who talks to me and not at me. Not only did we have a conversation about jewelry, we were able to speak about many different aspects on world of jewlery. After spending weeks dealings with yoohoo's all around Austin I stumbled onto TD's number in the yellow pages. I guess I lucked out.\r After a few seconds he had my attention, his humor and straight shooting had me smiling and laughing like we were old friends. Wow. What a great guy. Not only did he return my call *way* after hours, despite the fact that I wasn't expecting to hear from him until the next day, he was also good enough to offer a great deal of excellent advice about the process of appraisal and sale of estate pieces, and even made me laugh several times. TD is extremely knowledgeable, and clearly a straight shooter in all respects, even if it didn't benefit him directly. I would recommend his services to anyone in need of an honest appraisal. And he does something that not all appraisers do: he will do his analysis in front of you, which means you see everything that goes on, learning as you go. It was my plan to buy a diamond online and get it appraised within the 30 day return period. Out of all the Austin appraisers I researched, TD was the only one who knew what exact service I wanted - verification that I got what I bought. From his kind, but straightforward tone over the phone, I knew I had found the right guy.\r TD thoroughly inspected my diamond, educating me about the process at the same time. He is funny and very approachable. Ask him about the poem ""The Blind Men and the Elephant"". He'll explain how it's an apt metaphor for appraising diamonds. I went to TD after I bought a diamond that I thought was a ""great deal"" from a broker in NYC. TD appraised the diamond and informed me that the color of the diamond had been misrepresented. He advised I have the GIA Lab certify the diamond to verify. Sure enough, the lab report came in exactly as TD had suggested. TD spent a lot of time with me, educating nme and even empathizing with what happened b/c it apparently happens all the time. I will only buy jewelry from TD in future. I was pleasantly surprised to find this guy after needing to get some rings appraised! He was a lot of fun, showed me my jewelry under the microscope and did an excellent analysis of what I had. I left feeling so much better informed on what I had, and what was an appropriate re-sale price. He definitely made checking off this item on my 'to do list' an enjoyable experience! more

Mr. Wernick is a solid professional in the jewelry business. My daughter and I had a stone appraised by Mr. Wernick and he was accurate on the stone, approximate value in the market and, most of all, willing to pass on his knowledge and expertise to us. Going beyond the appraisal, he used his equipment for our viewing of the stone. Along with the extra bit of teaching, he expanded on specific details as to how they relate to the industry as a whole.
