Overpriced, bad food, bad service 5/15/2008

I went to Sushi Tango with a date and it was a referral from a friend who said it was "excellent." When we walked in there were only a few people seated and we were seated right next to all the people in the restaurant (when there were many open private tables available). My date had lipstick on his glass and didn't notice until he had drank almost his half his beer. When we notified the waitress she didn't seem concerned about this and instead asked "why he was wearing lipstick." She threw his entire drink out without offering him a new one! No discount or anything and then just said, "yeah that's gross!" The appetizers were the best part of the dinner and were reasonably priced. We both ordered the steak terriyaki which was close to $20 and was very disappointing. It tasted like a $2 round steak and neither of us ate it, yet we were not offered anything else. It took about 45 minutes to get our food and it was not busy. Sushi was not the best. Wouldn't recommend. Pros: Ambience, good happy hour Cons: food not good, service wasn't good more

As small-time sushi fans wanting a bigger experience, we asked for help with the menu at Sushi Tango. We were given great help in choosing our sushi (some simple and some a little out of the ordinary) by the friendly staff. We encountered no problems with rudeness and our water was refilled often in the time we were there. Everything we ordered was simply wonderful. The pork dumplings were flavorful, rather than generic and bland. The tempura squid was fantastic, with more emphasis put on the meat of the squid than the tempura batter. We had the Philly maki (salmon with cream cheese), the yellowfin maki, and the more adventurous Eel maki. All were delicious in their own right - but the eel was honestly the best! The meal was finished off with a generous bowl of Green Tea ice cream. Quite tasty. Pros: Great service, good atmosphere, great food no matter what you order Cons: I didn't see where there would be room for larger than 4 at a table more

Horrible Customer Service/Marginal Sushi/Overpriced 3/16/2008

My wife and I have dined there several times. Their major redeeming quality is that they have open tables during times that Figlios has a wait. Our service last visit was so bad that we won't be going back. When we complained to the manager she made us feel like we were the problem. It was completely unacceptable and frankly insulting. Stay away. Pros: Never busy. Cons: Bad service. Rude and insulting manager/bar-tender. Overpriced. more

Poor service 3/12/2008

Best Sushi Restaurant in MIDWEST 1/10/2008

I absolutely LOVE Sushi Tango. The food and sushi is GREAT! I'm a sushi fanatic, and I've tried many sushi bars around the country and none can compare to it. I recommend Sushi Tango to everybody. The fish is high quality, its spendy (but you get what you pay for) and they have excellent happy hour prices. Its very upscale and trendy. And not to mention, they have a great chef in the back! Wouldn't recommend it 9/28/2007

I am an avid sushi eater and have tried many places. I grabbed some lunch ""to go"" from Sushi Tango today. The service was terrible if you can imagine that, since a ""to go"" order shouldn't require much effort. First, I called earlier in the morning with some menu questions and was treated very rudely ( I think I was told ""how would I know, I don't have a menu in front of me) , I then went in at noon to place my order and the doors were locked. I waited outside until about 12:05 while servers and other employees walked by the door several times without acknowledging my presence. Finally they let me in, I ordered, and came back 30 minutes later and my food was still not ready (I was one of 3 people in the restaurant). Once I received it, I was not impressed. The portions were small for the price and the fish was unimpressive. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I think i'll stick with Fuji Ya down the road and would suggest you do the same. more

Would go again 9/17/2007

I tried Sushi Tango for the first time this summer and I was very pleased. My friend and I went during one of their happy hour specials and were plesantly surprised by the specials. It was very affordable for a slightly upscale sushi restaurant and we had great service. We both had the california rolls which were aboslutely fabulous. I would definitely go again. It was a great atmosphere and the service and food were great! Pros: great happy hour prices, good service, prompt seating, great sushi Cons: parking more

Young people, be warned. 9/1/2007

It doesn't seem unreasonable to simply expect good food and good service. I took my friend from out of town to Sushi Tango in Woodbury expecting a nice dinner. Our waitress was incredibly rude and took forever to take our order. She also seemed annoyed by me asking for some hot towls. Right off the bat I knew not to expect much from her. Food was good but we waiting way too long for being one of 3 tables in the entire restaurant. On top of this all, our table of 4 was service charged 18%! I've visited many times with my parents and have never been charged. Maybe because we all happened to be younger looking? I understand it is stated on the menu, but i've waited tables for over 6 years and know that if you're going to add gratuity, at least earn it and be consistent about it! Don't assume all young people are bad tippers! I will not ever return, nor I recommend this place to anyone. Pros: food Cons: service more

The Sushi Tango on Hennepin is a great place to eat sushi late. We get together with our friends there every Sunday night for the happy hour sushi and drink specials. I think the servers even know us by name :) Pros: Eat sushi late. more

Not a good choice 7/4/2007

Only in a serious pinch for sushi I'd maybe drive myself back to Sushi Tango Woodbury. First visit included, an insect in my drink, a large bone in my Sashimi and seaweed paper was so dry it crackled when I chewed it. Oh not to mention the extra long wait for our food. note - we were the only patrons in the resturant. Decor was great. more
