The servers in this place are just amazing. They are polite and friendly. They always check on us if we want anything else. Great place for a big group of people. more

Ive come here on several occasions and 4/16/2012

Ive come here on several occasions and i have yet to be dissatisfied with the service, quality, and general ambiance. The seafood is superb and the consistent freshness is one to be curious about, almost unreal for a land-locked state, ha! Aside from the food, the sake selection is great and for someone thats not that educated, the service was super smart and helpful with picking a bottle in line with my taste. Great place! more

~Best Sushi in Denver~ 8/11/2011

I have been going to Sushi Den since it opened. Never had a bad meal here. Yes, it is expensive but it is the freshest, most creative sushi I have ever had. I've tried other sushi restaurants and they just don't measure up to Sushi Den. I'll say to myself...never again back to Sushi Den. Toshi must be doing something right with the three restaurants he owns right there on Pearl Street! The Miso Cod is awesome...pretty much anythign Miso is awesome though. Miso Toro (YUM) I love to start off with a House Salad with the tofu dressing. Houseroll is a favorite and I dip it into the tofu dressing. Some favs are: green mussels, seared tuna, shrimp boat /with quail egg on top (only a few of the chefs make this one!), rainbow roll, fresh water eel and the list could go on and on... Sit at the sushi bar for some entertainment! more

I love Sushi Den! The food is great, the mango martini is delicious and the atmosphere is always fun. more

Incredibly Average 11/12/2010

Other than the swanky decor the Sushi Den is an incredibly average sushi restaurant. After giving this highly over rated sushi destination a few tries nothing about the food stands out. Although everything we have eaten there has been ‘good’ & fresh, it is consistently average. Nothing about the food warrants the price range on the menu, with a little effort you can find far better sushi in Denver more

Response to ""Horrifying Service"" critic 8/9/2010

If you are going to criticize the service at one of the top sushi restaurants in the country, you might want to tell us why you are making this claim. Otherwise, without any example of your experience, it makes you appear like you have some sort of gripe against the business. There is a reason why you have to wait for a table at Sushi Den and Izakaya Den - they are popular due to the quality of food and service. I have lived in the neighborhood for 13 years. I have never been dissatisfied with Sushi Den or their newer restaurant, Izayaka. more

good sushi, atmosphere, high prices 5/11/2010

I feel that The Sushi Den has fallen prey to the temptation to raise prices while lowering the size of their portions (or have the customers fallen prey)? I used to love ""the den"" but have been there two times recently and have been very disappointed. The quality is still okay but the portions have been reduced while the prices have continued to rise. I gave it a second chance after my first experience just to give them another shot as it used to be one of my favorite sushi joints. In my opinion they are taking advantage of their reputation as ""the place to be seen"" and the loyal customers are the losers. If you want to be seen or make an impression on a date it's the place to go but I feel there are better places for the sushi. I lived in Japan for 4 years and know my sushi. My choice for the best sushi is Sushi Ukoro in Golden on Colfax. I actually had a friend recently tell me she didn't like how BIG the portions were. Too hard to bite...WHAT? :-) They also do a fantastic job dressing the rolls with very interesting ingredients. Their other Japanese selections are fantastic also. Pros: go for the atmosphere Cons: stay away because of the prices and portions more

Mediocre Sushi and Bad Service on a Busy Night 1/14/2010

Our server was rushed and never came to our table ready to take her time and explain the menu. She always had other customer's food/drinks in her hands when she stopped by. She filled up our water to an extreme, interrupting conversations and filling the glasses to the rim with ice, not water n (8 times). We had to ask 4 times to wine glasses for all of us. We didn't receive one of the rolls we ordered. She forgot our edamame until we asked her mid dinner. When we got the check she had made a few mistakes on it and gladly fixed them, but hovered while we all decided on the tip. She came by 4 times to see what we were writing and as soon as we were done she picked it up and took it to her manager and complained. While we were walking out he approached us and asked if there were issues. Not only was the service bad but the fish was consistently warm in the sushi and the amount of rice in the rolls was overwhelming. The restaurant was packed and the tables were nearly touching. I think this is another case of a good restaurant gone bad...trying to pack in the people and make an extra buck by thinning out the fish with rice. My suggestion, go to sushi sasa or go to den on a Monday or Tuesday early to get the service you deserve. Pros: Extensive Fish List for Sushi/Ngiri Cons: Bad Service, Too much rice, warm fish in the sushi more

~ Amazing Sushi and Awesome Bartenders ~ 12/8/2008

I must admit this is not the best sushi I've had, however it is most definitely the best sushi I've had since moving to Denver two years ago. We tend to bypass the usual wait for a table and head to the bar where you will find the most knowledgable, friendly, amazing bartenders ever! Not only do they know exceptional wine and incredible sake, but they also recommend the most amazing entrees on the menu. We always leave extremely satisfied. I can't imagine going anywhere else in the Denver are for sushi and drinks, including Sushi Sasa. Pros: Amazing Sushi, Awesome Bartenders, Valet Cons: Full Valet, Too Trendy.... more

Greatest Sushi Chef! 10/23/2008

We came into eat a few weeks ago and I have been meaning to write this review so here it is. It was our 3rd time in to the den. And this last experience has topped all my dining experiences ever. We sat in front of Nathan who is fairly new and he had some of the most creative items I have ever eaten. Were not much for rolls but he made us a few that were incredible. Myself and my wife are more sashimi and nigiri eaters and he made the nigiri so perfectly that it was beyond words. We will with out a doubt be back. Pros: Sitting with the Sushi Chefs Cons: A little Noisy more

HORRIFYING SERVICE 10/22/2008

My boyfriend and I used to be great fans of sushi den and izakaya den. The food is usually good but the service is so awful it ruins the rest of the experience. Do not go here if you want good service, which you should be receiving in a sushi restaurant. Pros: Usually good food Cons: Awful Service more

Best sushi in town 8/7/2008

This is the place for some of the best sushi in town! Also, they have excellent service along with the sleek interiors to make the dining experience optimal. Our bartender was wonderful too - he shared some great tips on the different sakes and helped make our experience there even better. Pros: Food, service, ambience Cons: Parking more

Sushi 6/28/2008

Best sushi in the DU area. We eat there almost every week and love it. Personable atmosphere and the food is second to none. It?s like riding a roller coaster, the anticipation drives you nuts, waiting for a table, and then you sit down and order some fish and sake and can't complain about a thing, except the thrill. Make sure you check these guys out! Make the trip, enjoy yourself. Old South Pearl brings small town living in downtown Denver? and Sushi Den is the place to start; friendly, decent prices and delicious!\r -dfc more

Surprised 6/22/2008

I have been a frequent diner of Sushi Den for 5 years. From late night quiet dinners, to jam packed Fridays at 7pm, I have always found the staff to be very informative, even through the hecticness of the dinner rush. Not the most warming, but still knowledgeable about everything I was eating, to the point I've once or twice handed the menu right back and let them decide my dinner, and haven't been disappointed to this date. The atmosphere itself is an experience. Servers yelling out ""Sushi order!"", throwing down a ticket just to be countered with the chef yelling ""Sushi ready!"", beautiful single women coming through the door by the dozen. To this date one of my favorite places, wether I want to grab a bite to eat, just drink, or just stop in to say hi to the bartender. Traditionally untraditional. Pros: Wine/Sake selection Cons: The early closing hours more
