Best

I visit Sushi Blues once every few weeks, and have not once been disappointed. They have a solid menu of sushi rolls and sashimi, which is nearly always buy-one-get-one-free: perf...

Worst

The decor is original and quirky, as are the waitress uniforms. However, the tempura had an odd, untraditional batter that I found quite greasy, and the underlying vegetable was ...

Not worth the hype! 12/26/2002

The food is just ordinary...not worth the wait! Why wait for just so-so sushi when you could really get GREAT sushi elsewhere. I love the atmosphere...but thats where it stops. BUMMER! more

Call first if you are going late! 12/15/2002

We have mixed feelings about this place. First of all, we do love the sushi. There are many creative rolls to choose from. BUT... service can be VERY slow, seating is not abundant, and worst of all - the restaurant often decides to close early with no warning!! Supposedly open to midnight on weekdays (per the website), we have twice arrived around 11 PM to find them closing up and refusing to take anyone because it was ""slow so we are closing early""! BAD customer service. Several other people have run into the same problem, and recently Sushi Blues removed the ""open until"" hours off of their door - so many people were getting furious when they arrived during operating hours only to be turned away. Now the restaurant doesn't promise to be open to any particular hour. So go early or call first before you venture there late night!!! Pros: good sushi, nice music, good value for $ Cons: service is spotty, hours unpredictable, can be noisy more

Excellent Sushi, Long Wait 11/27/2002

This is my favorite restaurant, granted due to the small size one generally has to wait on a Friday or Saturday evening for up to an hour to be seated, however I believe it's worth it. I have heard about horrible servers here but have never experienced it. We always have Aislinn who rocks and always remembers what we ordered last time! The sushi is always outstanding, I feel it is the best in the triangle Pros: the food!!, the music, wait staff Cons: too small more

not going back 11/21/2002

i went to sushi blues expecting the best, because that's all i kept hearing. everyone i know who had been there recommend it. i, however, cannot. the sushi is ok, acceptable by my standards (pretty high), but you pay way too much for what you get. my check ended up being over $50 for the night for what i deemed was average sushi. granted, i was ordering a la carte because i'm very particular when it comes to sushi, so that would explain for some of the cost. still, i won't be going back. more

Not Good 11/8/2002

Food was the worst I have had in 5 states! Service was poor as well. Pros: good area, good atmosphere Cons: worst service, worst sushi, High $ for poor taste more

The best Sushi on the East coast 10/24/2002

This place is just great. The poeple, the decor, and the Sushi. The best in Raleigh! Pros: the best sushi, everyone is so friend Cons: I can't think of one more

Gives you the blues 10/17/2002

Recently, a few friends and my self took a trip to Raliegh just to try this ""great"" restaurant everyone is chatting about. The atmosphere was different, waitress was wonderfull, but the food was terrible. The ""japanese"" dishes they served were completley butchered, and tasted nothing like anything I ever had in Japan. I was completley let down. Pros: Nice wait staff, atmosphere, hours of opperation Cons: taste of food, chefs appearance more

Remove the Blues and Eat at Sushi Blues 10/2/2002

They have Wonderful sushi, and a variety of selections for those who prefer cooked fish. It is a great place for gathering with friends, with a date, or trying to rekindle that spark with a spouse. Not very child friendly, and could use a bit more chair space, but overall, the food is out of sight. Pros: wonderful food, great selection, fun, upbeat atmospher Cons: not child friendly, need more chair space, need more parking more

Sushi Blues = Sushi Superb 9/26/2002

What a great experience. I was encouraged to visit Sushi Blues weeks ago but due to a hectic schedule was unable to do so until recently. The sushi and the staff far exceeded the expectations going into the restaurant. Take your mom, your girlfriend, or your buddies. I promise you won't be let down. more

Thumbs up 9/21/2002

It is the best sushi place in the town. It has a trendy atmosphere, a big menu and good service. more

Fun! 9/20/2002

Great sushi and a great place to go with friends! One of the best and most original places to have sushi of anywhere I have been in the country. Sushi Blues rocks! Pros: Creative, Delicious, Good Location Cons: Small, Crowded more

I was blue when I finished eating! 9/18/2002

This is NOT good sushi. Anyone who is a regular sushi diner would know that their fish is not fresh. Not only is their fish sub-par but so is the service. We went on a Friday night and could barely get service. Once we finally got our order, the fish was fishy! My roommate even got sick after we got home that night. Bad experience. Waraji is the best in Raleigh! more

""Infused Sushi"" 9/16/2002

Sushi Blues is for those who order ""Infused Martini's"" in order for them to tell their friends that they drink martini's. Get real, the sushi here is a step above what you can get at Harris Teeter. And the service, we'll you're better off helping yourself at the Harris Teeter. Put enough mayonaise and fried batter on sushi rice, and anyone will eat it. They keep packing them in, maybe they should start serving ""Infused martini's"" here too. Pros: Music Cons: Service, Sushi, Service more

Not Worth the Time 9/12/2002

I'll give them credit for offering a large selection of rolls etc. The sushi itself leaves a lot to be desired. They give you twice what other restaraunts do, but they slice the fish so thin all you taste is rice. There are so many better places to get sushi in the triangle. more

Really bad service on a slow day 9/11/2002

I went to Sushi Blues for lunch. The service was terrible. The waitresses just stood around and it takes forever to get a refill. If you're hungry, go somewhere else because you won't get time to eat. The food was very nicely decorated and overall tasted good. But the poor service is what I remember. Pros: Ambience, Food Cons: Parking, Service, Service more

super sushi 9/9/2002

creative sushi place, trendy atmosphere, probably the best sushi in the city though a bit more expensive more

packed 8/29/2002

I love Sushi Blues' food, everything I have tried has been excellent. I like to get take out these days, it makes eating the food so much more relaxing than waiting and waiting to be packed in to the restaurant. Pros: downtown Cons: crowded more

Good but not Great 8/29/2002

The decor is original and quirky, as are the waitress uniforms. However, the tempura had an odd, untraditional batter that I found quite greasy, and the underlying vegetable was not cooked thouroughly. The sushi rolls were inventive in theory and description, but the taste did not live up to my expectations. All in all not that special. more

Best sushi place in town 8/28/2002

The best sushi place in town. Great atmosphere and so much choices from the menu. more

Good Atmosphere Good Food 8/28/2002

I enjoy Sushi Blues much for the atmosphere as well as the food. Don't change a thing. more
