Unethical Business! 9/1/2010

Horrible! I own a home in Richmond Hill which I rent out and reside in Cumming Ga. First I called Sunbelt Utilities and told them I was moving and had a tenant moving in the home to cut the water off Aug 6th. Without notice they turned the water off 2 days before and reused to turn the water back on for the new tenant until my bill was paid in full. When I spoke with Bill Kelly the owner he told he was just an employee and that he could not change anything...There was nothing to change except better communication from his office! So I called back his office only to be told he was the owner and decided what he could and could not do. So a month later I receive a phone call from my tenant explaining their water was shut off because of a banking error on my banks behalf. Not once did anyone from there office call me until after turning off their water. UGH! So now my tenants who have a contract with this company have no water because of an error on my banks behalf ?!?! REALLY? Is this how you run a business? When I contacted Bill Kelly he was nice enough to tell me that he received this information Monday and waited for me to call him to correct this matter before he disconnected the house. The house in which the new tenants have a contract with not I. How am I to know there was an issue unless my bank or his company contacted me. My bank corrected the issue on their end. I just wish this company was a little more ethical and ran like a normal business. I am contacting my attorney in the morning and plan on filing a civil suite against them. Horrible service!!!!!!!!!!!! The bad thing is there is no where else to get water from in the area because it is a private well. I will also be contacting the better business bureau and the Mayor of my city. I am sure something can be done somewhere. more

Poor water management 5/20/2010

i have lived at my house for 3 years and have had the water tun brown or turned off every six months without any notice. These water outages have nothing to do the payment but poor piping (which they can't help). But I went without water for 8 hours once without a single phone call returned. Also, don't both calling the office..no one ever answers the phone. And if you stop by the office between 11-3 they are out to lunch! also, they tell you that the payment is due on the 15th of every month when really its due in Jacksonville on the 15th. So if you hand them a check on the 14th it will be considered late in Jacksonville and you will be charged a late fee! So if you want to avoid late fees make sure its in their hands by the 10th of every month. Cons: no seems to ever work at this place more

Unethical poor customer service, takes advantage of thier position knowingly being the only choice around 1/27/2009

Sunbelt Utilites takes advantage of good people by not caring if they treat you right. We litterally had one of their employees dare us to not pay an unethical late fee after we prooved the billing mistake was on their end. ""Quote"": Don't pay the late fee and we will cut your water off, go somewhere else for your water if there is anywhere else to get it ha, ha! This company will purposely hold your check and claim that you sent it in late and and charge you a late fee. They do not maintain their equipment very well and are very hard to get on the phone if you have an issue. We have yet to get them to remove an unethical charge from our bill. We have auto bill pay with our bank and they have mailed out several checks, 3 to be exact for 3 months of service and this company has yet to deposit them and has sent us a notice that our water will be shut off for non-payment. Our Bank hasn't even been able to get in touch with these people. They are terrible and if you are given a choice go somewhere else. I am going to look into putting down my own well system and getting off of this service. My next step is to contact my county commisioner for suggestions and to report their poor service. Funny thing about this company, the service for me is in Richmond Hill, their service office is located in Statesboro which is very far away and all the checks we write go to another office in Jacksonville FL. A utility service company shouldn't be allowed to be managed from afar like this. Stay away if you can. Pros: you get water sometimes Cons: poor customer service, unethical business practices more

Bad business practices. 11/22/2008

I called this company to set up water. I was told to pay a 500 dollar hook up fee by Bill Kelly which I did; however, I know other people in the nieghborhood who only paid a 250 dollar fee. I gave them all my information and wrote them a check for the full amount. I never recieved a reciept or a notice on top of that I did not recieve a bill. Two months later a man in a unmarked vehicle and unmarked clothing, shows up at my door and tells my wife, who had given birth 5 days prior, that he was there to cut off our water unless we paid an 85 dollar account hook up fee. The man had no paperwork and couldnt explain what it was for. I called Bill Kelly and he told me everyone had to pay that. I know that isnt true but I paid it. I didnt appreciate someone showing up with no paperwork or crudentials and telling me he is going to cut off my water when I havent been notified at all. I dont have a problem paying my bills but I would like a little profesionalism. Pros: No other choice except to put down your own well. Cons: Terrible customer relations more

UNETHICAL BUSINESS PRACTICE Utility company 8/9/2007

This company has unfair and unethical business practices, I was told to pay 7 months in advance for my water bill I paid 233 in a check which has cleared the bank, and I have tried in vain for 48 hours to get in touch with this company and the owner Bill Kelly. He is there and the receptionist has given him all the messages but he refuses to call. He had me put the check in his name but I put in memo what I was paying and why. Its a corporation he is not allowed to take company funds and use them for personal use which is what must have happend considering my water is not on yet. I am going file suit in civil court because this is unreal 2 kids no water and Im a single mom I dont have alot of money but did what he asked to ensure we had water for 7 months. Pros: youll have water Cons: they want checks made out to owner name,cut it when they wish more
