We enjoyed our stay with you 4/26/2011

We enjoyed our stay with you and appreciated the level of service that we received at that time. The lodge is comfortable and well appointed. Should we have the occasion to visit Glacier again, we would look forward to another stay at the lodge. more

I enjoyed my stay at St Mary Lodge very much. 4/4/2011

I enjoyed my stay at St Mary Lodge very much. Large clean room, super comfortable bed, no problems with the WiFi (which shouldn't be in my vacation plans anyway), and a pleasant staff. The restaurant was expensive but I thought pretty good. Restaurant staff was quite friendly, the lodge staff was a little more standoffish but if they've read all the reviews on this website then they've probably got their guard up already. This was a little spendy at $259 per night but it was comfortable and clean. I would have no problem staying here again. more

We stayed in Bear Lodge, the three-story building 3/29/2011

We stayed in Bear Lodge, the three-story building behind the Main Lobby/Lodge. Our room on the second floor overlooked the river and mountains. It was clean, new, and nicely decorated in the bear theme. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was more than adequate. The staff was friendly and competant It's more expensive than the other lodges in the park but it offers nice amenities. We sat in the lounge by the fireplace and had a drink. There was live music at night. Overall, we were pleasantly surprised. more

What an incredible experience 3/8/2011

My wife and I stayed at ""St. Mary Lodge and Resort "" in Montana. WOW! What an incredible experience. We were treated better than family. It was our honeymoon and what a unique stay(to say the least). Our stay far-exceeded our expectations. The dining was fantastic(mmmm good). Our room had everything one could want(and more). The staff went well out of there way to make us feel welcome and comfortable. I could not have asked for more! The horse-back-riding/ATV-rides...what a treat. My wife and I left there with such a warm and un-forgettable life changing experience. We look forward to many, many, more visits to our favorite resort and vacation destination.....In all my travels I have never,I mean never, experienced such great hospitality....Make no mistake! This place is AWSOME and gets our(and above) 5-star-+ rating. (Wish we were there now) more

We had a wonderful stay 3/1/2011

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin was perfect for the four of us. They have been doing a lot of improvements to the cabins. On our second night brand new gas grilles was installed. The shower worked great, toilet worked. (both of which seemed brand new). Also the large screen LCD TV was cool. If thay only put in the living area instead of the bedroom it would have been even bettor. We had one small problem. We only had towels for two people. Every night we would go to the front desk for two more sets of towels only for the cleaning person to remove the next day. Leaving notes did not help. I don't think she understood English. No big deal though. We planned our own activitys, meals, etc. and did not use the lodge services much except for the laundry room. Oh they tried to do the sales pitch with us, just told them not interested once and we never heard from them again. Some people have real complaint issues, and there will always be people you can never please. We are easy going people and do not waste time on stuff like that. The park was wonderful, and the going to the sun road is finally open. Would I stay there again, Hell Ya. more

The entire complex is very convenient 2/24/2011

The entire complex is very convenient in that the location is within a stones throw of the St. Mary visitor center, and the lodge has a grocery, gas station, huge gift store, coffee shop, all on the property. It makes things pretty easy from a one stop shop point of view. You can waste no time and get your lunch from the grocery the night before, store it in the refridgerator in the room, get up early and get a coffee from the coffee shop and be off to catch the first shuttle at the visitor center. more

nice place to stay 2/7/2011

have been there this summer...nice place to stay more

I have been here in the past and this year it was amazing 2/1/2011

I have been here in the past and this year it was amazing the new cabins looked great from the outside. We stayed in the Great Bear Lodge and it was truly luxury, we were so pleased. They have horseback riding and ATV's on site now which was nice, the kids went and played which gave us a little private time. All in all the resort has really stepped it up from what we experienced a couple years ago, we were very pleased. more

My husband, three children and I decided to take a week 1/28/2011

My husband, three children and I decided to take a week vacation to visit the United States and decided we would go to Glacier National Park, in Montana. One of my friends recommended St. Mary Lodge & Resort to me, on account that she and her family had been there a few years ago. I checked out the Hotels web page and was pleased with what I saw. Upon my arrival to St. Mary Lodge & Resort, I was greeted with the uttermost friendly, warm hearted people. My first thought of the resort was remarkable. The scenery was breathtaking and the ambience around was incredible. Check in was nice and quick, and the people were very friendly, which made it nice because my family and I had been traveling so long. My family and I stayed in the Great Bear. The rooms were beautiful, with a warm fire place and the most comfortable beds. I wasn?t expecting the rooms to be this nice on account that we were in the middle of nowhere. Throughout the weeks that I was there, my family and I persuade a numerous amount of exciting activities, from Horse backing riding through the mountains, to extravagant boat rides through the National Park. The resort had two main restaurants, Snow Goose & the Curly bear. The food was amazing, with a wide variety of choices, great for the adults and kids. By the end of my vacation I felt so relaxed and refreshed. My children didn?t even want to leave, which frankly was impressive considering they don?t like any where but home. For the first time, my family and I enjoyed a nice, relaxing, fun filled vacation. I can?t wait to go back! more

St. Mary Lodge will make your stay one that you will always 1/26/2011

We enjoyed our stay at St. Mary Lodge so much that we wanted to extend our vacation by a few days. The Lodge was booked, but thanks to the fine work of James at the front desk, we got to stay. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff in all areas were competent and extremely helpful. They went out of their way to make sure our stay was a memorable and pleasant experience. The Lodge dining room has an excellent menu, with some unique choices. The food, service, and presentation were all excellent during our meals. The General Manager, Greg, went out of his way to make us feel welcome, as did John, who is the new owner. The bartenders and waitresses were all fun, pleasant, and never too busy for conversation. The gift shop is impressive with its large inventory of unique articles, many of which are hand-crafted locally. The staff at St. Mary Lodge will make your stay one that you will always remember. more

The views were beautiful 1/20/2011

We were delighted with our third-floor room (1 King-Superior) in the Great Bear Lodge. The Great Bear Lodge has the newest and largest rooms on the property. We carefully evaluated our choices at this property before making our reservation, and perhaps because we did our homework, we had a successful experience. The views were beautiful--one can see the mountains and just see the lake a bit. We had a private balcony where we could sit and enjoy the view. The stream's noise masked what traffic there was on the nearby highways. The room was spacious, furnished in ""cabin"" style, with rustic furniture and a bear theme throughout. We had a jacuzzi tub, a gas fireplace, wet bar with mini-fridge, flat-screen TV, and a sofa (sofa bed), rocking chair and another comfortable arm chair. We were able to connect to the internet in the Lobby area in the early afternoon. We spent five nights at this hotel. When we needed extra coffee for the in-room coffee pot, or some other amenity, the front desk staff were helpful and pleasant. They regularly printed out weather reports for us and also freely gave other information. The room we had was a bit pricey, but in comparison to even the lodges in Glacier National Park, it was a better value. The location is great for doing hikes from numerous trailheads in the Many Glacier, Cut Bank, Two Medicine and Logan Pass areas. more

The room was great, It was roomy, clean, well stocked 1/18/2011

we were greeted by a friendly young man who assigned us a room on the third floor of the lodge, patiently directed us to that room and answered all our questions. The room was great! It was roomy, clean, well stocked, had a comfortable love seat in addition to the standard 2 Queens, desk and chair. It also had a magnificent view of the mountains, St. Mary Lake and the stream. The balcony had two chairs and a table, a great place to watch the sun set over the mountains. The sound of the stream lulled us to sleep each night. Our grandkids found skipping stones in this stream irresistible. The morning after we arrived, a nice young man (Derek) gave us a tour of the entire facility including the tipi's. When our grandkids saw the tipi's they gave us gentle guilt-trips for having changed our reservations....however grandma was thankful! The room was overpriced to be sure but so is everything in that area. We found it not far out of line with other tourist areas like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Monterey (California), etc. We had cellphone service the entire time, in our room or out.... however our grandson did not (different carriers). We did most of our eating at the Park Cafe, famous for their home made pies (try their razzleberry pie!). We also ate at the Snowgoose (expensive but good) and Curley Bear (burgers and ice cream). We used the lodge as home base for various fun excursions in and around the park. To our delight, our much anticipated trip to Glacier/St. Mary with our grandkids was a success thanks in part to the accomodations at St. Mary's Lodge. more

We had the nature trip of a lifetime 1/12/2011

We had the nature trip of a lifetime when we stayed at St. Mary Lodge & Resort at St. Mary, Montana. First off, it is located at the east entrance of Glacier National Park at the end of the On the Road to the Sun Road. It is a must see. We took a raft trip with class 3 rapids which originated at the west end of Glacier Park. There are hundreds of miles of breathtaking hiking trails through the park around lakes, waterfalls, and mountains with glaciers. Many trail heads originate right at St. Mary Lake. We thought St. Mary Lake was the most beautiful of all the lakes we saw. Wildlife abounds. We saw bear, moose, bighorn sheep, mountain goats, and marmots. One marmot decided that my husband needed help eating his ice cream, so it hopped up on the picnic table beside him. You don't even have to get out of your car to see most of these animals. We did a lot of hiking and took our """"bear sticks"""" just to make some noise. I was accused of """"calling"""" the bears because I would yell """"nice bear""""! (My husband didn't want to extend any invitations.) The bears we did see were not in the least bit interested in us. (Early morning and early evening is the best time to see wildlife.) If you walk across the highway, not much traffic, you can take a horseback trail ride or an ATV tour. We took 2 horseback rides with our Blackfoot trail guide. Our trail guide was in his 40s, had lived his whole life there, and said that during that time he had killed 10 mountain cats that were jumping on his horses. St. Mary Resort was a wonderful place to have a base camp, if you want to call it a camp. We stayed in the lodge with our own fireplace and jacuzzi tub. We had a nice balcony with views of the Rocky Mountains. They also have private cabins and tepees. Professional chefs cook in their restaurant. The food is excellent. There is also a cafe across the street where you can save some money and get a burger. In any case, you can keep snacks in your refrigerator at the lodge. One final note about St. Mary Lodge & Resort is that if you are having any problems, all you have to do is to call the office. They will take of it. We will be going back. There are more trails that we want to hike and some that we would like to hike all over again. This is not a trip for couch potatoes. Get out and enjoy the scenery-- even if it is just by car. more

Has a great restaurant 1/6/2011

While traveling to Glacier National Park recently we happened upon St. Mary's Lodge. This is the best location to the entrance to the park. Has a great restaurant more

It was the best sleep we had in our 5 day trip 1/4/2011

I booked a room in the Great Bear Lodge portion of the hotel, which is the newest part. I stayed for two nights with my fiance so we would have easy access to GTTSR and the East side of the park. I booked it last year and found that the older rooms were in the other areas of the complex across the street from the lodge, and I will admit I was a bit nervous after reading some reviews, but in all honesty it was the best sleep we had in our 5 day trip and a nice view out the back porch of our room. The room was clean and modern, moreso obviously than most hotels in the area. The grocery store across the parking lot was convenient, and we had a great breakfast in the restaurant with excellent service. I would not expect much from the folks (teenagers?/college students?) at check in, but we didn't really interact with them much and housecleaning came as requested when we put the card in the door slot. All in all, no problems, and I'd go back again. more
