Review content:
we were greeted by a friendly young man who assigned us a room on the third floor of the lodge, patiently directed us to that room and answered all our questions. The room was great! It was roomy, clean, well stocked, had a comfortable love seat in addition to the standard 2 Queens, desk and chair. It also had a magnificent view of the mountains, St. Mary Lake and the stream. The balcony had two chairs and a table, a great place to watch the sun set over the mountains. The sound of the stream lulled us to sleep each night. Our grandkids found skipping stones in this stream irresistible. The morning after we arrived, a nice young man (Derek) gave us a tour of the entire facility including the tipi's. When our grandkids saw the tipi's they gave us gentle guilt-trips for having changed our reservations....however grandma was thankful! The room was overpriced to be sure but so is everything in that area. We found it not far out of line with other tourist areas like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Monterey (California), etc. We had cellphone service the entire time, in our room or out.... however our grandson did not (different carriers). We did most of our eating at the Park Cafe, famous for their home made pies (try their razzleberry pie!). We also ate at the Snowgoose (expensive but good) and Curley Bear (burgers and ice cream). We used the lodge as home base for various fun excursions in and around the park. To our delight, our much anticipated trip to Glacier/St. Mary with our grandkids was a success thanks in part to the accomodations at St. Mary's Lodge.
