Best

Fast, cheap, good thai food. May be a chain, but at least you know what you're getting.

Worst

The service here was ok, but the food is lacking. I don't think I would even call it Thai food. Good prices...

Decent Cheap Eats! 2/25/2007

Decent fresh food at great prices. It didn't knock my socks off, but it was quite tasty and very inexpensive. Decor was a little cold- kind of modern. I would definitley go back for lunch since it is fresh and so reasonably priced. Try to avoid the dumpings. Pros: Convenient, inexpensive dining in Greenwich Village. Cons: Cold, busy, loud. more

great food great price 1/31/2007

Great price for good food. I enjoyed the 1/2 duck. The cocunut soup was good too and I think I know thai soup. Pros: food great, fun Cons: crowded more

A new lover of Thai food!! 1/29/2007

LOVE this restaurant!!! Just so you know I was not a fan of Thai food at all. I am now! The appetizers are phenomenal! The wait staff is friendly but I did not like the fact that the wait staff hovered over us to take our plates while we were still eating. more

Mediocre Thai food for clueless NYU students! 11/18/2006

Because they're pretty cheap, this place is always packed with NYU students. The seating is uncomfortable because you're either jammed right next to the window, or people keep bumping in to you. Not fun. Pros: okay if you're a desperate student? Cons: jammed seating, greasy/ fatty food more

One of the best Thai places in town... 9/5/2006

This place is ALWAYS packed on any given day on any given hour. They don't take reservations and the wait can be out the doors. Space is tight and loud. The food is heaven! I always go there for the calamari. I'm salivating as I'm typing this. Almost everything on their menu is delicious. You can't go wrong with a dish that has basil in it. Their pineapple fried rice is wonderful, and so are their curries. Order a thai iced tea to complete the meal. Pros: FOOD Cons: long wait, noise level, space more

Cheap Thai food! 8/29/2006

My friend and I came here for an early dinner and were promptly seated. Water took a long time to get to the table. Our waitress came by our table at least 3 times in 5 minutes asking whether or not we were ready to order (we weren't). When we finally did order, though, our food came almost immediately! My friend requested some brown rice at the beginning of the meal and when it still hadn't come when we were halfway done with our food, we inquired about it and the waitress brought it to our table in less than a minute. After someone took away our food, we quickly received our check and then change. As described, we weren't happy with having to ask multiple times for drinks and food, but the staff was quick and attentive in other instances. Pros: Cheap, good food; fast service; fast seating Cons: Had to ask several times for water/rice more

There are pros & cons 8/20/2006

mmmmm...... there are good and also bad in this restaurant. Pros: good food Cons: service more

MY NEW FAV! 8/14/2006

The food here are AWESOME! the appetizers range from 4-5 dollars which makes it even more appealing.. I went with two other girlfriends and we ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entrees. We tried their calamari (yumm) puffy duck (croissant-like crust..) satay chicken.. softest piece of chicken i ever tasted! and sauces come in a separate dish though they are not that spicy but if you are sensitive to that spice.. just dont dip into the sauces and you'll get the enjoy the food as well. For entrees, we had the crispy duck and the pineapple fried rice, they were good but I think I love the appetz alot more! However the BIGGEST AND ONLY CON is probably the noise level.. it just got so loud.. we had to scream to talk and we were a feet away from each other. This is not a place for a peaceful meal.. but a delicious meal you will receive! LOVE IT! Pros: FOOD and DECOR Cons: VERY LOUD more

Great food but it's hard to digest in a rush 6/25/2006

Went to Spice Restaurant for dinner and loved my meal. It was a vegetable curry flavored noodle dish which was very good. Also, for desert I had the fried banana and vanilla icecream dish. Both scrumptious. The waitress was perfect and very friendly despite the hub bub that surrounded us. The only thing is that the bus boy hovered, it felt, while we ate because he wanted us to get in, consume the food, and be on our way. Granted there was a wait but it's hard to enjoy food, let alone begin the digestion process, if you know you will be booted out the door. Booted may be strong but you get the picture. Despite this, I would recommend the restaurant because the food is worth it. Pros: Great food Cons: Too busy and loud more

Great Thai food 6/21/2006

Spice is great Thai food, love the inexpensive appetizers. Regardless of whether there are two people or two hundred people ahead of you the hostess will take your name and tell you ""Five minutes."" Until you realize that their ""five minutes"" is meaningless and your wait may be anywhere from two to twenty minutes it may be frustrating. Its worth the wait though. All the NYU students love this place so it makes for a fun young atmosphere. Pros: Very reasonably priced, great food Cons: Just beer and wine, long waits, very cramped more

delicious, cheap and modern thai makes the service forgivable 6/21/2006

I have been to spice three times- twice during lunch and once at dinner. I have never been disappointed but their true strength lays in their amazingly delicious and cheap lunch specials. They are served with a free appetizer and the portions are perfect for lunch. Their exotic salad is basic ly a delcious little green salad with a peanut sauce that is perfect before their sweet basil fried tofu. I love this place. The only concern i have is with the slighly all-business waitstaff who order and throw the food down, rushing you out. I have to say that if this what makes it easier to get a saet a lunch- I dont mind. The place is sleek, modern and playfull and i will return again frequently. Pros: cheap, delicious, design is cute Cons: service, lunch wait more

Great Thai Cuisine 6/11/2006

Great food at reasonable prices. For appetizers, I recommend the shrimp fritters and dumplings. It's usually packed for good reason, esp. at night, but it's hard to hear your own conversation with everyone else competing for that same luxury - the music playing in the background is also voluminous. And I would have to agree with the masses in terms of service - delivery is their Achilles' heel. My co-workers had to wait almost an hour for delivery, only to discover that what they got was not what they ordered. However, their popularity has yet to slow down, and I still find myself drawn to their ambiance and delectable reputation. more

Best Thai Food in the City... 5/17/2006

...and so cheap! I crave it and have been to all three locations countless times. Pros: food, plum wine, price more

Two is definitely a lonely number 3/7/2006

A friend and I decided to spend our one hour lunch break at Spice. My friend has been there many times and was eager to introduce me to her favorite Thai restaurant. Upon arrival the hostess chatted on the phone and didn't even make eye contact with me to at least acknowledge that I was there. After about 5 minutes, a man I would presume to be the manager comes out, takes out names and says that we would be next on the list. My friend and I waited. Gasped in disgust when a party of two AND THEN party of three was seated a head of us. Then we waited some more. The food was decent, the atmosphere loud and trendy, and the staff completely oblivious. Not a great experience. Pros: Prompt serving of mea, Awesome bathroom, Trendy Cons: Long wait, Disinterested staff, Small Portions more

Cheap Eats In Sleek Setting 1/23/2006

Spice is sleek, modern and cool with a menu that will not hurt your wallet. An excellent alternative to fast food joints and ordering in but, the food was slightly disappointing. The Pad thai, lad nar and various other dishes all look good on paper but, I've had better thai food in less asthetically pleasing places. You get what you pay for and with that logic in mind, Spice is a great place to grab some cheap eats and drinks in a beautiful setting. Pros: Good Prices, Great Service Cons: Avg Food more

Love it! 10/9/2005

You have to love Spice. Great thai food and very inexpensive. Tough to get space with a large group and very loud. Great for a quick meal. Don't expect to sit here for a couple hours and relax. If you want quick, great thai food - this is the place. Pros: Food, Inexpensive Cons: Loud, Crowded more

Awesome modern place 8/25/2005

I just moved to NY from LA and this place was super COOL. Awesome lego wall, bulb chandelier, and retro chairs not to mention the awesome DJ selection playing over head made this place one I'll return to. Highly recommended Pros: location, decor, food Cons: crowded, small more

great for lunch 7/1/2005

I went here for lunch and got their lunch special. It was great - everything was delicious and fresh. For about 7 (including tax), I got a decent sized serving of an entree, an appetizer, and rice. Portions of the entree were not huge, but were certainly large enough to be considered a good value. Also, they gave me a full pint of rice with the meal, which I couldn't finish, having already eaten the 4 delicious vegetable dumplings and the excellent chicken with ginger and pineapple stirfry. I did takeout, so I can really say that much about the service - although my meal was probably ready in 5-10 minutes - pretty speedy, and the staff seemed nice. Will definitely eat here again for lunch and maybe for dinner (the prices for dinner are reasonable too) more

Lunch Special 6/29/2005

The Spice on 8th Ave (not sure about this location) offers a lunch special that for 6.50 you get an entree and an appetizer. The service is always fast and the food is always delicious. Good for dinner too! Fast Delivery. Pros: Great Food, Cheap Lunch Special, Fast Serivce more

Spice Is Where It's At. 6/21/2005

I love this place. Not only is the food amazing, but for the price and the decor, you're totally getting a bargain. The creative menu has so much to choose from, and you can't help but want to go back over and over again. more
