Southgate Animal Hospital

I have been taking my furry babies to Southgate Animal Hospital,Keith and Eileen Cook,since 1999. They have given me and my pets nothing but the best of care, from annual check-ups to ear infections, invasive chest tumor removal(still good :)),keeping my kitty, Patches,going strong for 21 years, then with her,.. to send her peacefully over to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her other brother that was waiting for her.. a Rottie, Rufus.Rufus would PULL to go INTO the office to go see Dr. Keith who would call him ""cookie man""!!Yes,they are great with the animals but also when you go into the room you can ask as many questions of them as you need to!! They NEVER RUSH!! As a surgeon...The BEST....As a caring vet...The Best....As a Vet that will take time to answer All YOUR QUESTIONS.....ALWAYS!!!!! They are both GEMS!! Staff is also! more

This place is good if you feel like waiting around an hour and a half to two hours after your appointment time to be seen for 2 minutes. They take people that come in well after you before you too. I understand that they have to make money, but overcharging for things that you can pick up at the dollar store is outrageous. I just started a new job and told them I did not have much money at the moment and they said they would work with me. Obviously, that said to offer me $180 for 10 antibiotics and some neosporin and charge me about $35 to wrap my dogs paw in gauze. They also like to add stuff to the bill without your consent and you are pretty much out of luck because then you have to pay for it. more

I love this place....when you have animals and something goes wrong the first thing you do is find a vet. Usually that means the closest one available....... if you have never been to one before. We were lucky because this was the closest one to us. At the time it was located on Eureka across from Toy R' Us in Southgate but they have relocated since then to Dix just south of Northline. Anyways back to the topic...........this is to our family the only place we will take our animals. They are friendly, professional. and very helpful. My wife is a Vet tech and is going through her internship, unfortunately she is with another office but we will continue to bring all our animals here which includes 3 dogs and 2 cats (my mother-in-law wont go anywhere else) Great Doctors... a little pricey but worth it. Even at 11 p.m. when our dog found a brand new bottle of children's liquid Motrin with acetaminophen and decided to eat the bottle. They told us how to induce vomiting and even called back more

All the doctors and staff have seen my dog and cat and have all been very kind, professional and accurate. I appreciate their compassion and positive attitudes in dealings with them and would highly recommend them for top of the line care. more

I want to start by saying the staff was great! My cat recently started having seizures and when I called, they were excellent in telling me what needed to be done and helping me realize that's what was wrong. Dr. Walters was awesome. She answered every question we had and made us feel good with the decisions we were making. She gave us different options and was great with our baby. I would definitely recommend my friends and family go here. The prices were reasonable. :-) more

The only thing good about this place is the building is nice and clean. Other than that, the staff is clueless. If they don't like where your pet was vaccinated they will make you get it re done. Dr E. Cook is very rude, self centered and arrogant . She only listens to half of what you say. I went to Southgate years ago when they used to be across the street from Toys R Us. I dropped of an animal for a friend of mine today. I was hoping they changes, but they are just as rude as ever. more

Southgate Animal Hospital did a tremendous job of diagnosing and treating our family dog. Upon arrival, the staff were cheerful and professional when they welcomed us to the new facility. The exam and diagnosis of the problem was thorough, and the Doctors (both Eileen and Keith) took the time to explain what was wrong, what was needed to correct it, and the follow up care that would be needed. I was very reassured by their professionalism and care. The surgery and follow up care that was provided was excellent, and I would not hesitate to recommend Southgate Animal Hospital for any pet care needs. more

We have had pets for the last fifeteen years and Dr. Cook and Dr. Eileen have always taken great care of them. They were there to treat our old Shepard and here to help us welcome our new ShiTzu puppy. more

I have been using the services of Sgt Animal Hospital for over 5 years. I have several Large breed birds, cats, and rabbit. They have given phenominal care from both the staff and the vets themselves. They achieve what everyone wants in a vet; thorough medical care while having the most commpassionate 'bedside manner'. Even with the death of my cat they gave both discreet and compassionate care, even going so far as to send a berevement card. Most of the staff and I know each other on a first name basis, something not common with other vets. I've not heard of a more compassionate, caring, and medically thorough vet ever. I would gladly recomment them to anyone. I will be moving out of state soon and they will be deeply missed. I hope you give them a try so you can see for youself. Everyone that works in this facility are great, and caring people that deeply care about every patient they see. If you want great care for your extended family this is a great place. more

I have taken my guinea pigs here and they seem to be very knowledgeable. They give you options for animal care and are very sensitive to you and your pet's needs. They also have exceptional customer service; I had no problem getting copies of my animal's vet records. more
