New Look Great Food 2/4/2006

Wow !! Place is beautiful !! Re did entire restaurant and bar. No music yet -- disappointing-- food was excellent, service needs alittle work but overall a do not miss spot on Staten Island more

Dinner at the South Shore is usually very good. Manhattan prices, almost Manhattan service. The food is usually excellent. In the 6 years I've been going, I've had one bad meal (rack of lamb had all fat and no meat) and the waiter ignored my complaint. Other than that one incident, the food is great. Parties are another story. Any event, from a work get together to a wedding, will be perfect. There is no other place on Staten Island that I would even consider for a wedding.   • This picturesque, rolling golf course has many hills and narrow fairways, which make it challenging, but the landscaping alone makes this remote 18-holer worth the drive over the Verazanno Bridge. It opened in 1827. The designer, Alfred Tull, liked the natural setting and basically cut the course from the forest, but the tight fairways are balanced by the large, spacious greens and the beautiful woodland scenery.
