Plan your next event here! 4/1/2012

I just don't know where to begin. I reserved the lounge for a private party and couldn't have been more pleased from the planning to the execution. We had about 30 close friends and family celebrating a milestone birthday. The food came out of the kitchen flawlessly (thank you Mike!) and it was all so good. The gorg mac and cheese, the baby back ribs and the sliders seem to be the favs but all of the food was great. And a special shout out to our bartender, Lauren. She was amazing. Kept the drinks flowing with such a friendly and upbeat attitude. The lounge has a local casual but elegant feel, the service is amazing and great food. Seriously, plan your next event/celebration here! more

Cool looking place with a nice buzz. Good food and drinks. 6/29/2007

Great looking place with a nice buzz. Good food and drinks. My only complaint would be the ridiculously meager measures of wine, for a rather high price. Literally a third of a small glass for $9 a pop! I asked about it and received a firm ?that?s our standard here? okidoki then! Cant argue with that! Personally, there are better places out there for the cost. Pros: Good looking place with a busy buzz. Cons: Expensive and veeeeery poor wine measures. more

20-Something meat-market scene 11/9/2006

Thurs-Sat in the evenings is a meat-market scene for the 20-somethings, so go another night if that's not your thing. The mac and cheese is tasty along with the sweet potato fries, but I was just there recently and they removed one of my favorites from the menu (fish tacos). Bring them back! Pros: Cocktails, small plates Cons: meat-market scene, parking more

I love this place! 10/15/2006

They have my favorite drink ever (the la real, try it!), their mac and cheese is awesome, and the atomsphere is relaxed and inviting. Perfect place for a snack or a meal and a drink or two. Pros: drinks, mac and cheese, tues night mysery envelopes Cons: sometimes there are a lot of beautiful people types but I guess they have to eat, too (= more

Nice atmosphere, food not so much 8/20/2006

Very cute place, slightly less upscale than I was lead to believe but still very nice. Atmosphere is what this place is all about. However, my group did go for dinner. The food tasted pretty good, not exceptional, but creative and of what I thought was decent quality. Can't vouch for the other memebers of our group but my boyfriend and I were both ill when we woke up this morning and I was kept up all night with stomach cramps. So, despite the lovely atmosphere and delicious glass of Pinot Noir I had last night, I will not be returning. Pros: Hip, swanky place to have a good drink with friends. Cons: The good time you'll have isn't worth the bad time your stomach will give you later. more

cool friday or satuday night hangout 7/26/2006

Nice atmosphere, small tables, small portions (but hey they're tapas). Very good rasberry mojito. mac & cheese, you'll be craving it all week long. Nice lounge/bar to go out with friends. Pros: rasberry margarita more

My fave bar/lounge 7/21/2006

I love Solstice...the food is definitely good, but the main reason I love it here is the vibe and cool bartenders. I wish there were more places like this (part restaurant, part bar, part loungey) in the city... Pros: Cool drinks, cool bartenders, good music at night more

Dreadful food 7/15/2006

The best item we had was a tomato bisque which tasted like Cambell's soup. The Mac n' cheese with gorgonzola was too cheesy and topped with a strange combination of sour apples and old, funny-tasting nuts. By itself, the mac n' cheese would have been mediocre but it was virtually impossible to eat it without getting bites of apple/nuts. The basil risotto was nearly tasteless, very overcooked and gummy - basically inedible. Avoid this restaurant if possible. more

yummmmmmmm, it is all good here! 6/28/2006

Fantastic drinks and pizza!!! Service is superb and love the employees! Good times all around, especially during happy hour! A MUST in the city! Pros: food, drinks, service Cons: lighting, chairs more

Awful customer service 6/25/2006

First of all, the waitress spilled part of one of our dishes on the table and didn't apologize or even acknowledge it. Second, we needed to ask twice to get a dessert menu. And third, the food wasn't that great. The kobe beef sliders were delicious, but everything else was just okay. The mac & cheese was left barely touched. Bottom line: not worth the money! Pros: Kobe beef sliders Cons: Everything else more

Great place for drinks 3/8/2006

Solstice has a great ambiance and drinks. A really nice place to hang out with your girls or date. Tne food was so-so, we tried the sauteed calamari with white bean puree but it wasn't as good as expected. I could only taste the salt & the garlic. Staffs are great...very friendly and good service. Pros: Nice ambiance, cozy place, great drinks & music Cons: not so good foods more

my fave in SF! 1/26/2006

Solstice is my favorite restaurant in San Francisco. The menu caters to everyone, their wine list is great, and their specialty cocktails are delicious and creative (especially the mojitos!) The tuna-tartare is highly reccommended as well as the skirt steak and whatever seasonal vegetables they are offering. I have been here on dates and with a group of friends, and every time I have had an exceptional experience. The prices are definately managable and more than worth it for the impeccable service and versatile ambience at Solstice! Pros: fantastic menu, great service, great atmosphere Cons: none! more

Lively new place 10/22/2005

Went there on a Saturday around three weeks ago. We didn't have reservations, but were able to get a table right away. That might not happen for everyone as the place was near packed. They really did a good job with this spot--I'd been there when it was a different restaurant with live jazz. We had the hamburger, tuna, mac-n-cheese9 a little different with apples and nuts on top?) fish tacos and desert. Can't remember the rest. I like the place because they tried to give their own twist on each plate, yet with the mac-n-cheese they might've went to far. I'd go back if I wanted to eat with a group of friends and chat, not focusing only on the dinner and food. it's worth at least one visit, and seems lively enough( crowd wise) for two. Pros: decent food, ambience Cons: parking!, make reservation more

Great Drinks! Try the JR Rasberry Tickler! 8/21/2005

What a fun spot! A group of us (5 girls) checked it out on Saturday night and had a great time. There was a lively crowd and great bartenders! Chris, Kelly and Jacob were all great (not to mention cute). We all tried the JR Rasberry Tickler (Skyy Berry Vodka, Rasberry Puree, Champagne and a splash of OJ).....it was too yummy......however, I would recommend you not drink more than four. ;) We will definitely be back! :) Pros: bartenders, drinks, atmosphere more

BYOB 5/16/2005

Take your own bottle of wine cause the liquior is way over priced but, other then that the returant is off the hook!!! Great service, great music, great food = AAA+++ A must in San Francisco dinning!!! Pros: Great food, Great Service, Great Drinks Cons: Small portions, Tough parking, A Bit Expensive more

Used to be good 5/4/2005

I started going to Solstice a month or so after opening. The food and drinks then were great. The last few times I've been have been less than stellar experiences. The food menu has changed since opening, as has the quality. It's inconsistent at best. The drinks are alright, but nothing to really write home about. It seems now that the place has some regular clientele, it seems the quality and service just aren't what they used to be. more

Comfy Lounge 11/5/2003

I went there for dinner last night, it was SO expensive. The food was pretty good, but our service was very slow. The atmosphere in the bar was mellow and sexy, and is probably a great place for a date. 75% of the restaurant was women, and there rest were out on dates. The rasberry mojito is yummy but weak. Pros: comfy atmosphere, yummy food, wine list Cons: very pricey, slow service more

Weak drinks 10/18/2003

I loved the atmosphere, decor of this place. We went for happy hour, so the drinks were cheaper. We had four each and weren't buzzed at all. The food was mediocre. Service was good, but i was so dissapointed with the cocktails. They really need to reevaluate this. If you want to look at a cute bartender, pay a lot of money for a drink with barely any alcohol in it, and listen to some reggae, this is the place for you!! more
