Do you really need to put up with snooty car sales reps when you you're going to purchase their vehicle? I can't for the life of me make sense of my expereince at Smythe Volvo on Stevens Creek. When I arrived, I had to go INTO the showroom to ask for someone to help me. Tom comes out and I told him I was interested in the XC 90. He answered a few of my question and I asked to take it for a test drive. I'm asked to answer questions to a ""survey"" before I go, no problem. We get the keys and go for a drive. Upon returning, I wanted to test drive the convertible. However, I'm told he has to go get permission. Permission? Are you kidding me? I thought tha's how cars get sold, but hey, I'm just the buyer, what do I know. Tom returns, an the questioning begins. How do I plan to pay for the car? Excuse? I'm asked if I'll be leasing, buying, financing, cash, etc. Followed by how much do I intend to put down. Am I wrong to get a bit peeved here? I explain not to worry, I've already got a preapproved loan. He returns with a breakdown of what my payments will be and ""I'm only trying to get the right car for you."" Am I wrong or is this really his choice? Silly me, I'm thinking I was the one who got to choose the car for me. When I applied for my loan, I already considered the amount of monthly payment I could handle, again, is how I spend my money his concern? Needless to say, I will not be buying my new Volvo here!!!!
