I am a happy customer 3/17/2012

I looked a lot of different cars and went to a lot of dealers before I lucked into this one. I didn't have any bad experiences at any of the dealers, but Jeff at Smythe Volvo was outstanding. Not only did I get a great car at what I consider a very fair price, I came away feeling that I'd met a really nice guy. Very straightforward, no pushy tactics, open to reasonable arguments. Highly recommended. And 2012 Volvos are superb -- at least the S60 is. more

I have always had a good experience here. When I bought my new C30, Frank was very nice and helpful. As far as service goes, they do an excellent job. I really like the free loaner car service, you get to try out a new Volvo each trip, nice! more

Horrific Service 6/22/2009

We went in three times for service. Each time we picked up the car, a new bulb was out, including the license plate bulb. Each time the cost to replace was $200. Simple things like fixing the rubber door trim were never a courtesy, like at the Lexus dealer -- you got it - $200 bucks. Final straw, we went and specifically asked for the transmission to be checked. No problem according to them. Two weeks letter the transmission is shot -- bonus tip: google Volvo transmissions and you will find that Volvo has serious transmission problems with the XC 90. This, of course, is a money making opportunity for the dealer as opposed to an opportunity to make it right. Service team is rude -- can see it for days and no loaner will be available. AVOID VOLVO AT ALL COSTS -- AVOID SMYTHE TOO. Horrible. The worst service ever. You will pay too much and the car will come out worse than it went in. Pros: they have a monopoly in SJ, so it's hard to find someone els Cons: Service is HORRIBLE more

Are you kidding me???? 5/29/2007

Do you really need to put up with snooty car sales reps when you you're going to purchase their vehicle? I can't for the life of me make sense of my expereince at Smythe Volvo on Stevens Creek. When I arrived, I had to go INTO the showroom to ask for someone to help me. Tom comes out and I told him I was interested in the XC 90. He answered a few of my question and I asked to take it for a test drive. I'm asked to answer questions to a "survey" before I go, no problem. We get the keys and go for a drive. Upon returning, I wanted to test drive the convertible. However, I'm told he has to go get permission. Permission? Are you kidding me? I thought tha's how cars get sold, but hey, I'm just the buyer, what do I know. Tom returns, an the questioning begins. How do I plan to pay for the car? Excuse? I'm asked if I'll be leasing, buying, financing, cash, etc. Followed by how much do I intend to put down. Am I wrong to get a bit peeved here? I explain not to worry, I've already got a preapproved loan. He returns with a breakdown of what my payments will be and "I'm only trying to get the right car for you." Am I wrong or is this really his choice? Silly me, I'm thinking I was the one who got to choose the car for me. When I applied for my loan, I already considered the amount of monthly payment I could handle, again, is how I spend my money his concern? Needless to say, I will not be buying my new Volvo here!!!! more
