Thank you Dr. Toolen! 11/21/2012

Dr. Lisa Toolen is the best! My dog had a lump on her side and I was reluctant to have any testing or surgery done since she was almost 15 years old. Dr. Toolen explained that they have different ways to treat their "senior" patients and after listening to her I opted for the surgery. I felt she was in expert hands. It is now a year later, my dog is 16 years old and back to jumping up on the couch again! You would never know my little "senior" is 16! Thank you Dr. Toolen! more

Vet to businessman 6/16/2012

As a former employee I've worked at 3 locations & watched it grow. In the beginning Dr. Chiosi was a very caring vet, willing to go to any lengths to find an answer for a diagnosis of a pet. He was wonderful to work for. Then as his practice grew & relocated things began to change, hiring more vets...Dr. B (Outstanding) & Dr. Andre. He somehow lost some of his passion as the workload got bigger. Then again with the growth of his practice, he again moved to a much larger facility. With that came Dr. Bill (Wonderful Vet ) the changes were remarkable. It was very obvious the front desk was overworked & very unhappy. They are the first impression you see & reflect the mood of the hospital. Since relocating, I have 3 veterinarians at 3 different practices & they all are awesome ! Drs as well as staff are so caring, pleasant & genuinely care about both the client & their pets. Every experience both good & sad they treat their patients & clients with the utmost respect. What a pleasure. It's a more

They killed my cat. 5/4/2012

9-12-11 my cat went in for what I was told routine surgery. The vet called at 2:00 said the surgery went good and I could pick her up later. A short time later the vet called and said the cat was hemmoraging and needed to be opened again. the vets words were I think I nicked the juggler. well not long after my cat was rushed to garden state animal hospital, my cat wasn't able to breathe on her own, she was blind, couldn't stand on her own finally after three days she had to be put down, this b*tch has never admitted to killing my cat and you should not bring your animal to this animial hospital more

HORRIBLE- 9/6/2011

Horrible!!!!!! I will never take another pet there again. My Guinea Pig was sick so I brought him in. They had us there for about three hours and said that he needs a shot to remove gas from his stomach, gave me medicine for the night and food. which had to be paid upfront in full. They said he would be ok. ON THE RIDE HOME he died in my son's arms. which was about five minutes after we left the vet. \r \r I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a vet. They are about money. I called the doc right away after he died and he said there is nothing he could do, animals die. Unreal. I could bring him back to find out why he died. Really? shouldn't you have noticed something after an X-ray was taken, and the procedures that were performed. I now tell everyone to look elsewhere, and the more I do the more horrible stories I hear about this place. more

amazing doctor 4/25/2011

i have been taking all my animals to dr chiosi for years but the morning i woke up and my 3 year old pitbull could not walk i freaked out and i called the voicemail he was the doctor on call but i had to leave a message i then took my dog to redbank emergency room in tinton falls i have to say they are the worst facility out there they wanted to charge me 4000 dollars for a mri which im sure seems outrageous i decided to just start her on the steriods and bring her home after 20 minutes of being home i recieved a return call from dr chiosi who knew right away what had happened and had come in early just to see her we then started treatment for her thyroid and her cartlidge embolism she was only paralyzed for 2 months thanks to his quick thinking and caring personality<3 i would never go to another vet again more

Changed Vet's 3/30/2011

I've been going there for about 20 years. Never really had a problem, just thought the Dr had no personality. I heard good things about another vet near by, so I thought I would give them a try. I am so glad I did! I love my vet! If you are not happy at Sayrebrook try Animal Hospital of Sayreville. There is only one veterinarian, Dr Spinazzola, and he is wonderful! more

The Best 3/22/2011

I have been using this group for 18 years. Our first dog, a toy poodle was diabetic needing insulin 2x a day. The care giving him by Dr. Choisi couldn't have been better. Dr. C was wonderful. When it was time to put our poodle down, Dr. Choisi came to our home and did it. He was so compassionate. I have read the reviews on this site and need to tell you that Dr.Choisi has a great sense of humor once he gets to know you. We now have an adopted shelter dog from SPAC and we also take him to Dr. Choisi. I want to also mention that the girls at the front desk are wonderful to. Very happy with this group. more

AVOID THIS PLACE 3/3/2011

I brought my 6 month old puppy for a simple neutering. Overnight, the staff let him chew through and digest FOUR plastic e-collars. He has been vomiting now for two days and can't even keep down water. Currently he is at another vet about to go into exploratory surgery to see if there are still pieces of plastic blocking his intestines.\r \r Now I can understand if he ate one and they tried a 2nd. But what was going through someone's mind when he had eaten two collars and they decided to put a third on him? AND THEN A FOURTH? \r \r And to top it off, they actually CHARGED me $32 for the four collars they had been basically feeding him all night.\r \r Pure incompetence. And my puppy may die because of it. more

Chiosi killed my cat Sumo 7/29/2010

Mr Chiosi killed my cat Sumo (two years old) on 12/9/2002. \r Sumo was admitted to the hospital on Saturday, 12/7/2002 with his hind legs paralyzed. On Monday morning I called Mr. Chiosi asking about my cat's condition. He called me back a half an hour later telling me that Sumo's condition had not changed. I told him that I would take Sumo back home. Chiosi called me 40 minutes later telling me that Sumo is dead. I wish I posted this review earlier to save lives of other pets. I also wish I paid attention to my cat's panic attack when Mr. Chiosi first examined him. more

A Team Hard at Work 6/23/2010

The staff at this hospital is very caring and the doctors are very knowledgeable and all in all the team does a great job. The facility is clean and has a lot to offer, and most of the staff is seasoned in their field. A lot of people who write these reviews are quick to jump to conclusions and don't realize the stress involved in working in an environment where life and death is an every day issue. My experiences here have almost always been positive, and there are plenty of doctors to chose from, so if you find you've had a bad experience with one or have heard things you didn't like, try requesting a different one before you make assumptions. more

Trying to help 6/17/2010

I do not know any of the doctors or staff. As a veterinarian happened to log on to this site, I noticed that some of the complaints were written obviously by the same person. Let the Veterinarian know what you experienced, they will listen, I certainly do. I love my patients and my clients and will do anything to make their visit comfortable, they come first. After all they pay my mortgage and the mortgage of these Drs too. more

Fed up with the Vet 5/19/2010

This is one of the biggest mistakes I ever made. Since I am new to the area and recently have a new puppy I started taking her to Sayreville Vet Hospital. It was big and fairly clean, so I tried it. I have all the shots I was suppose to get every few months, and at 6 months had my puppy spayed. I received a price of $280.00. I brought her the night before the surgery anad was picking her up the day after. When I dropped her off I asked the girl at the desk to have someone call me to see if her baby teeth needed to be pulled, (since he rother teeth were in) or to let me know it they thought they would come out on their own.. The did write extraction in the contract, but once again I verbally asked that they call me first. Needless to say they are suppose to call after the surgery and let you know how the pet is doing. By 4:00pm no one called me so I called them. At this point they said everything went well. They didn't mention the teeth so I figured since I didn't get a call t more

I love the convenience but... 2/1/2010

I have had several types of pets over the years and have taken them to this hospital because it's located close to my home. Dr. Bill treated my cat, who was 17yo at the time. My cat had to stay and I was told to leave a $$ deposit. I was called the following day and told that my cat was doing fine but I needed to bring another check that same day. Day 3, I got a call to take my precious home. Upon arriving at the hospital located 10 minutes away from my house, I was told that she had to be put to sleep and I had to pay $800! (He couldn't figure out by Day 1 or maybe 2 that it was her "time"?!) My dog has been used as a pin cushion and when things have been really serious, I get sent to Tinton Falls, where checks can't pay the bill but credit cards have to be used! Years ago, the vets seem to care, now they just go through the motions to justify a standard $300 bill. more

Average, at best 12/12/2009

I've had good & bad experiences at this hospital. Pros: Most of the vets are caring & listen to your needs, and the technicians are sweet and seem to know what they are doing. Cons: The ladies working in the reception area act like they don't want to be there and the wait time has always been 10-30 min each visit. If they revamp their staff and reduce the wait time, this hospital would be a more welcoming place to visit. more

Good Time 9/26/2009

Docs are great - Staff Horrible! 9/21/2009

I went to Sayrebrook for years and then had to switch due to a move. However, after not successfully finding a vet in my area I drive the hour to get there. Pros: The docs are great. 24-hour care and always very responsive taking the time needed whether on the phone or in person. Cons: The office staff is absolutely the worst. The reception staff is just too immature and inexperienced to deal intelligently with clients. Except for 1 or 2,they need a total overhaul. And the wait time is ridiculous. Recently I just waited almost an hour! Walked in at 11:00 am (as requested for a new pet) for an 11:15 appt. and wasn't seen until 11:50! Meanwhile everyone that walked in after me were seen and had left by the time I got in. The excuse was an emergency, but when I asked the vet there was no emergency. Just ineptitude. Another con, the techs are the worst I've ever seen at blood drawing - usually torturing the animal with multiple sticks from the leg to neck causing great stress more

i love my puppy sooo much 9/15/2009

they're good... i unfortunately had to put my dog to sleep because he was sick and i didnt go in there when he went in but my boyfriend got me to go inside to fill out some paperwork and i was crying because my dog was my world, and the receptionist who was there was very caring and very sweet, and you can see in her face that she was sympathetic and has a heart. more

MY LITTLE YORKIE 7/24/2008

MY PARENTS USED TO USE THIS VET FOR MY OTHER DOG WHICH SADLY HAD TO BE PUT TO SLEEP A COUPLE YEARS AGO (HE WAS VERY OLD AND SICK) BUT WHEN I GOT MY PUPPY I TOOK HER TO A VET THAT WAS ALOT CLOSER JUST BECAUSE. BUT MY MOM ALWAYS BEGGED MY TO TAKE HER HERE. WELL AFTER A COUPLE BAD VISITS AT ROUTE 516 ANIMAL HOSPITAL. I WAS JUST COMPLETLY FED UP. I TOOK MY TEACUP YORKIE TO SYREBROOK THE OTHER DAY TO HAVE HER PRE SURGICAL EXAM WHICH WAS THE FIRST TIME SHE WAS EVER SEEN THERE. AND MIND YOU I READ ALL THE OTHER REVIEWS THAT WERE WROTE.. THE DOCTOR WE SAW WAS DR CHIOSI WHICH I WOULD RECOMEND TO ANYONE!! HE WAS GREAT WITH HER. THE OTHER VET DIDN'T TELL ME THAT MY PUPPIES BLOOD WORK WAS A LITTLE OFF AND IT HAS BEEN FOR A YEAR WHEN I FIRST GOT HER. DR CHIOSI ANSWERED ALL MY QUESTIONS AND MORE. THEN SHE HAD TO GET BLOOD WORK DONE AND A SHOT. HE CALLED IN THE TWO TECHS AND THEY DID ALL OF THE WORK RIGHT THERE AND THE LADY AND THE GUY WERE SOOO GENTAL AND CARING IT WAS LIKE SHE WAS THEIRS.
