The Worst Dining Experience Ever !!!! 6/27/2007

I have been a fan of Savannah's for several years, but no longer. My recent experience at Savannah's was the worst. The appetizers that we orderd at the bar took thirty minutes to reach our table. Our waiter greeted us by telling us that there was no salmon, no ribs, and there would be substitutions made to the chicken and waffle platter. Despite all of their ""no-haves"" we were rudely informed that we could not make any substitutions, ""...that's the policy, did you read the menu?"" Our chicken and waffle platters arrived with no waffles and we were informed that the waffle iron stopped working over the weekend. After we all ordered the $5 cornbread we were informed that there was no cornbread. If you are looking for good food, in a great atmosphere, with excellent service you had better look some place other Savannah's Soul Food Bar. Neither the food nor the service was worth the hassle Pros: Ambience Cons: everything but the ambience more

Nice Setting 9/10/2006

Well, first of all my friends and I wanted to have a ""Ladies Night Out"". While we were deciding on where to go we, we ended up choosing Savannah Soul Food Bar. My friend callled to make a reseveration for 7pm but our entire party was not there yet. Any way when we arrived, the waitress toook our orders for our drinks, then she arrived 10 minutes later with them. When the waitress took our order, we notice another couple sat down right beside us. We there talking and drinking. We then realize that the couple that arrived after us recieved their food before us. My girlfriends and I were looking at each other like what is going on here. Nothing was said so we waited another 45 minutes. Bt then, my girlfriend and I went outsidie to check her car to check the meter on by her car. We returned , our other girlfriends were eating their food. While my girlfriend and I sat down, we eat and shared the Savannh Combo. The ribs were cold, the mac and chesse was not piping hot like I seen the other couple's mac and cheese. Once the bill arrived, we were calculating who owed what. We realize that the waitress gave us an order of cajun fries which no one order. We brougt it to her attention and she gave a us a round of drinks for free. Overall, the watresses were courtesy and nice but the food was not all that great. more

HORRIBLE SERVICE 5/1/2006

I asked my Sweetie to take me to Savannah's; wanting a spot serving great food, good music. The bouncer was sitting outside on sidewalk but went inside when he saw us. He asked for $5/per person cover charge which I thought was strange because of dinner being served. We arrived at 11:30pm dnd didn't have a reservation but could see several vacant tables. The hostess never acknowledged us, then told us there was 10-20 minute wait and walked away. When she returned, I asked her again and she told us to sit at the bar without taking our names. After waiting 30 minutes, I asked a waitress about being seated and she said she was unable to help us. Finally after being seated, remainder of evening was very enjoyable. One note: my Sweetie didn't tell me until later that previously he had the same crappy service!!!! Pros: intimate atmosphere, live DJ-great music Cons: poor service, cover charge more

Great Tasting Food 12/12/2005

We had reservations for Sunday at 5:30 PM received a call at 5:00 PM they had to move the reservation to 6:00PM due to ""technical problems"". OK, so we arrived at 5:30 PM sit at the bar and have drinks. No one was behind the bar to serve drinks. At 5:45 PM we were sitted. So it stated out a little shaky but they made up for it with the great tasting food. We started out with the Fried Calamari which was fried to perfection with a excellant sauce. For the entree we had Blacken Cat Fish with Mac & Cheese plus Collards. The mac & cheese was the best I ever has at a restaurant. Better then Bluezette and Warm Daddy. We will go again and bring friends plus try the Fried Catfish Whiskers and Meatloaf with Mash Potato. Pros: Food, Upscale surrounding, Parking Cons: Drinks more

Tasty Soul Food 11/3/2005

From the street you'd never know that Savannah is an upscale, great little restaurant. The service was a little lacking, but the ambiance is sophisticated and the food is fabulous! The chicken and waffles are out of this world, the cornbread is perfect, and the portions are plenty big. Try the appetizer sampler - you'll want a taste of all of it. Pros: great soul food Cons: strange location more

Horror At Savannah 8/11/2005

Mellow atmosphere - great nights to have an intimate date or meeting with a client..."" At least this is what we were expecting before we drove 45 minutes into Philadelphia. We arrived to your restaurant around 11pm and to my husband's and my dismay we were asked to pay a $5 cover charge each. Our intention was to have dinner and found it rather strange that we would have to pay a cover charge to have dinner. My husband paid the $10 to the bouncer and was then asked to take his baseball cap off. My husband obliged. As we entered the restaurant every 3rd gentleman in your establishment had either a baseball cap or a hat. While standing at the entry way it was rather crowed and people were nicely dressed, the sounds from the DJ and the chatter from the crowd seemed to be competing. Pros: good catfish Cons: Cover Charge, Long Wait, small table/chairs more

A Great Experience 4/18/2005

I have been to Savannah's twice now and I must say that each time I have enjoyed a spectacular meal. The catfish whiskers are to die for as well as the jerk wings. The chefs at this fine establishment definitely know what they are doing! Happy Hour is awesome as well!! They have $5 drink specials and they are good drinks: Apple Martinis, Cosmos, etc... The bartenders are especially friendly and so are the servers. This is a place just to chill, go out on a romantic date or have a birthday dinner. I recommend that you stop by asap! Pros: Cuisine/Cocktails, Atmosphere, Music Cons: Parking more

Unappreciated. 2/21/2004

I would love to say that I had a wonderful time at Savannah's, however it would be a detriment to myself and future diners. We arrived to a hostess who was distracted, while she did see us waiting our presence was never acknowledged. After waiting we were shown to our reserved table. Our server, unaware if we were seated at his table or not..and having to go back and check..finally came to help us. Our last dinner guest, whom was late...was greeted by the hostess with the words..""You're late, you only have the table till 9:30"". Finally after the late arrival of drink orders and 'cold' appetizers. We were informed by the server...that ""Yes..you can order entrees""..(he was concerned about our late start) We decided that maybe our money would be best spent elsewhere. We declined entrees..paid our bill..and vacated the restaurant. Unappreciated Diners. Pros: Atmosphere, music, selection Cons: , bad atitude, long wait for food more

Soulfully Satisfying 1/14/2003

My husband and I dined at Savannah's for the first time on our 10th wedding anniversary. As you can see, we have been together for a long time and this was the best didning experience we ever had. The food, atmosphere, service and decor were tasteful and comforting. The live jazz band was an added bonus. A definite must for anyone! more

Southern Food 11/21/2002

If you want upscale southern food this is tops. After a return visit to Warmdaddy's (after a year hiatus) this place far outstrips it. Warmdaddy's still has it beat for music but the food at Savannah's is at the top of its class. On par with Bluezette's for sure. The ribs could use a schooling from Dwight's out on Lancaster though you can;t sit down and relax there. more
