San Franicsco Scooter Centre is by far the best scooter shop around. Barry, Chris, and Laura are all AMAZING people. they go out of their way to make sure you are satisfied and that you leave with a smile. Laura is always busy running around answering phones and going out of her way to make sure that everything is running smoothly. Barry is just a hands down honest, good guy. He is always outside giving helping people with their bikes. He takes the time to explain whats going on and how it can be fixed and gives HONEST estimates and turn around times. Chris is a hard working mechanic who is always SUPER busy working. Never much time to talk to him because he is so focused on his work, which in my eyes is AWESOME. Everyone who visits this shop for their first time/ or is a regular will tell you they have had nothing but A++ service. I cant leave out buster. Buster is the shop dog, who is the most loving bulldog you will ever meet. SFSC has been around for YEARS. I consider everyone there apart of my family and would go out of my way to help anyone there. I just want to say thank you SFSC for being around. more

HAVE TO REPLY TO THIS REVIEW! 1/22/2011

THAT LAST REVIEW DOES NOT SOUND LIKE ANYTHING I'VE EVER EXPERIENCED A THE SCOOTER CENTER! SOMEBODY WITH A PERSONAL GRUDGE WHOSE UNHAPPY WITH BRAND SCOOTER SHE BOUGHT! ... Anybody who knows anything about scooters, knows there is only one place to go. These guys have been in business for about twenty years. They used to be in a different location. Now they have a nice spot on 10th and Mission. Barry is super cool. I think he's the sole owner now. He's worked on my vintage scooters in the past and my current 2007 vespa 250. They also sell all different brands. He doesn't treat you like an idiot if you know nothing about the mechanical side of riding ... like me. His prices have always been lower than Vespa and his repairs and bodywork over the years have been no less than stellar. more

Worst Scooter shop in the area! 4/5/2007

I bought a new scooter from this place about 2 years ago. Since then I have nothing but problems with the scooter and the service at San Francisco Scooter Centre. They sold it to me with a broken brake switch, but promised to repair it as soon as the part came in. So as suggested I took the scooter back in for an oil change at 300 km and to have the switch replaced. I called ahead of time asking about the brake switch and was told no problem just bring it down. I did and they said to come back in 4-5 hours. When I came back they claimed they did not have the brake switch and said they needed to order it,again. I left slightly frustrated, but figured I get it done the next time. So I waited until my scooter had about 2000 km on it and I took it back for a tune up and again to have the switch replaced. Again they said no problem, come back tomorrow to pick it up. I did and again no brake switch. I paid for the services as the owner (Barry) was not around. I called the next day to speak with him about the inconsistancy within his shop. He apologized and offered to refund my money for the tune-up. He did as he said and sent the brake switch via USPS. All seemed well except that now my scooter has this knocking sound in it. The manual suggested it was the spark plug. I tried to call SF Scooter to see if I could get a spark plug and again no help. They said they don't have any record of what spark plug I might need and I would need to bring it down for them to take a look. And that if I am having problems most likely it's not the spark plug. He tells me this over the phone w/o even asking the situation with the scooter. At this point I am done with San Francisco Scooter Centre. they have done nothing but run me in circles and give me bad information. I will take my business to Scuderia or Golden Gate Cycles. Cons: This shop doesn't know what they are talking about. more
