Best

My husband and I finally got into this place for dinner and loved it! We sat upstairs in the dining room and loved the décor and atmosphere. It felt quaint and romantic up there ...

Worst

It is unfortunate how many of the big, good looking restaurants in Lodo are owned by huge corporations. In the Samba room, this is extremely apparent in the food. While the atmo...

Party for 115 a huge success! 3/7/2003

Our private party at Samba Room was fabulous! The food was superb, the environment - very fun, and the service - outstanding!!! The staff are to be commended for a job so perfectly done. I was very impressed with the timing of the food delivery; the transition from course to course was extremely smooth. I would definitely recommend Samba Room to anyone! They exceeded my high expectations with flying colors! Pros: Great Service, Fun Environment, Outstanding Food Cons: Parking more

Must Try 1/28/2003

I have eaten there several times and have been very impressed with the quality and flavor of the food. Ive tried several different things on the menu and have yet to be disappointed. You must try the appetizer with the Cuban beef served with the corn cakes Very Good!! more

The Best of the Best! 1/23/2003

This place is just amazing. The food is incredible, the people and everything they do is just perfect. I really love this place. I will recomended to every one. more

Great Food! Good Service! 1/23/2003

the Samba Room is a great addition to the LoDo area. The food is unique, full of flavor and always great. Service gets better everytime I visit. If you are looking for a incredible dining experience and something other than the standard Denver Steakhouse Samba Room is it. Pros: Great Food, Good Service, Something new more

No bang for your Buck 11/19/2002

After trying such restaurants as Cuba Cuba, Cafe Brazil and Piscos, it seemed natural to make my way to the Samba Room to expand my interest in Latin cuisine. While the decor and overall ambience of the place is certainly a tour de force, Samba's food is not. Again, if I'm being asked to pay $23 for an entree, it had better send me into an orbital bliss. It didn't. I hate to say it, but Cuba Cuba seems to have a slight edge over Samba, foodwise. And I emphasize SLIGHT. It seems Denver's in need of a truly fantastic Cuban restaurant - skip the ornate ambience, I'd rather have glorious food. My recommendation - visit Samba for some cocktails. But for the sake of your wallet, leave it at that - you're not missing much. Pros: Great ambience, Good service Cons: Overpriced, Mediocre food more

Samba, Baby! 9/27/2002

I really enjoyed the bar in the Samba Room. Our bartender was great - friendly and funny, even giving us directions to some of the hot places in the area that were a must-see. He even bought our dessert! The atmosphere was awesome, and we had a really great time in the Samba Room!! We'll definetly go back! Pros: service, atmosphere, good location more

Spirited and Spunky 9/3/2002

We were impressed and excited at the prospect of a Latin restaurant with the panache of the Downtown scene. While sipping a martini at the friendly bar our spunky bartendress gave us the scoop on what to order. Once seated, we didn't wait but a moment for our drink order; the waiter was charming, courteous, and efficient. My date loved the zesty touches to his salad and seafood, although it was a bit too spicy for my taste. With spectacular service and a spirited atmosphere, I'll definitely be back to try other dishes! Pros: Well-trained staff, Noisy, Great prices Cons: Crowded doorway, Not for quiet dates, Trendy more

Unhappy Anniversary 8/15/2002

My wife and I traveled 70 miles for our anniversary dinner at the Samba Room. We enjoyed the ambience and the crowd but the meal and service were very disappointing. I have had better steaks at a Western Sizzlin and my wife had fish that was bone dry. The waiter showed up to take our order and bill us. My wife told him about our food and he said "" Sorry"" and gave her the bill. Cons: food, service, drink value more

Very good but not authentic 7/29/2002

Atmosphere is great, decor is fun and perfect for the cuisine selection. Food is good, but the Paella is not really what I call a Paella. So I would say that most of the flavors are right for most of the entrees, but not authentic. If you have a large party, the Havana room is a really nice place to reserve. The service has been great on 2 occations and then my last visit there, there were alot of mistakes and delays. more

Perfect in Every Way 7/2/2002

I have enjoyed dining at the Samba Room on two occasions and found it to be perfect in every way. I think the secret to a great experience is to sit upstairs. The atmosphere is straight out of Havana. The Mahi-Mahi is YUMMY, and the banana dessert is terrific. Try it! Pros: Great Value, Good Drinks, Great Service more

all the charm of Castro's jackboot 6/24/2002

The food was barely passable (the paella was dominated by the flavor of sausage grease and the ""iced"" coffee melted all the ice before it was served). Everything else was disappointing. The host was a charming, fun guy, and it went downhill from there. Part of the bar was barricaded by a group of women on sofas eating dinner around a coffee table -- sitting at the only available bar stools would have involved walking between at least 3 people and their entrees. The server was snotty -- in fact downright rude with his curt ""certainly""s when we asked for crazy things like water (no, they're not serving water on request due to the drought, unless they're doing it selectively) or our check (after 10 minutes of watching him pass by). The scene is all beautiful people. Go to Samba Room to see them, but eat before you go. Pros: beautiful people Cons: bad service, marginal food, too much effort more
