Best

My husband and I finally got into this place for dinner and loved it! We sat upstairs in the dining room and loved the décor and atmosphere. It felt quaint and romantic up there ...

Worst

It is unfortunate how many of the big, good looking restaurants in Lodo are owned by huge corporations. In the Samba room, this is extremely apparent in the food. While the atmo...

The Olive Garden of PR/Spanish/Cuban cuisine 2/2/2006

Host sat us upstairs in back corner, no-one else around. Waiter slow to greet w/ STINCH of CIGARETTE Smoke! TAB...$130 AT LUNCH...waiter does not check back to fill water, or another glass of Rioja when empty. Plantains, were CHIPS of fried banana, not actual plantains. Meal then comes out from under the heat lamp, crust on top of rice and mussells in paella dried out like raisins! I did not eat...waiter did not question, just took away at end of meal without asking if something was wrong, or offering dessert...simply put check down! No manager checked to see how we were the entire time. We could have eaten at FINE restaurant for the price of eating at a trendy place, where it's cool to hang and drink Mojito's. THIS IS A CHAIN...I would say if you like the Olive Garden for Italian, you will LOVE the Samba Room for Latin. Pros: TRENDY Cons: CLUELESS more

Sorry Room 1/26/2006

The service was very poor. We had a reservation and checked in with the hostess. She said ""Just a minute"". 15 minutes later we inquired again and she said ""Oh I was waiting until you were ready"". We were standing right next to her! The wait service was not much better and the food is overpriced and not that good. Word to the wise, do not take your out of town guest here if you are trying to show them a cool place in LoDo! Cons: service, food more

Superb 1/19/2006

This was an incredible experience for me. The service was a 10. The food was unforgettable. I was able to taste the food from it's exquiste smell. Food was filling without being heavy. The sophisticated atomsphere was magnificent. I would definitey recommend it to any and all visitors looking for a great dining experience in Denver Pros: service , food quality, atomsphere Cons: parking more

Worst Service EVER in a restaurant 1/17/2006

NEVER book dinner at this pretentious restaurant for a special occasion. Their staff cannot handle stress nor accomadate their customers when they themselves make the mistakes. New Year's Eve they overbooked. The 9:30pm customers who were paying seventy-five dollars per person, were not sat until after 10:30pm! Poor planning on their part to think that people could get through five courses in two hours. We have been to the Samba Room on prior occasions with success. However, their cheesy staff is all appearance and no ""real"" restaurant or customer service experince. Pros: food, location, drinks Cons: service, staff, pretentious more

how do I love thee 1/8/2006

Every time I need to find the perfect backdrop for a great night of conversation with a friend I choose the Samba room. The happy hour is great, the service is wonderful, and the food has never let me down. I enjoy starting in the bar with some tapas and drinks and then moving to a table or (less formal nights) one of the sofas in the bar area for dinner. Try the skirt steak! you won't be dissapointed. Pros: great desserts more

Very, very good 1/6/2006

The sauces are amazing. I had an app. with four different meats and sauces and they were all outstanding. My dinner was great and the service top-notch. I have returned to the Samba Room for dinner and lunch, both are great. A must try. Pros: Great sauces, Unique food, Great drinks more

Eat before you come to drink 12/3/2005

My girlfriend and I regularly go to the Samba Room. We go for cigars and mojitos! We decided to have appetizers and drinks, we ordered crab soup that was on the menu for about $6 a bowl. When we received our bill it was $10 a bowl, when questioned the waitress said there was more crab meat added because it was the special of the day. Not once were we told the price was higher or more meat was added, I asked for a bill adjustment and she refused, I talked to the manager and she began to yell/argue while I stayed calm!!! Than she had the nerve to tell me not to make a scene when she was yelling, I told her I would pay the difference, she said no and comped the whole bill because she didnt want to make me upset haha... I was willing to pay. more

ONe word - Fantastic 8/7/2005

I came with my family and got a table upstairs. The atmosphere was calm and relaxing. We got the best waiter, he was cheerful, good with the kids, gave recommendations, and when we ordered a drink for my daughter, he brought it in two cups so our son could have one too. I highly recommend this restaurant. They just got a new menu. You should really try * coconut shrimp dish red snapper samba room salad noodles Pros: food, service, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Best mojitos and food 5/13/2005

I have been going to Samba Room since they opened almost 3 years ago, the service, food and mojitos have always been outstanding!!! I highly recommend going, try the coconut shrimp as an appetizer, caesar salad is a must and the skirt steak as your entree. You can't go wrong at the Latin Fusion restaurant!!!!! more

Dishonest Waiters and phoney plastic ambience. 4/26/2005

I live in lodo and have tried Samba several times. It's consistantly provided us with poor food quality, extremely bad service. Last time we were there with a party of 8 and the waiter tried to hit us for a tip on the bill that had an automatic gratuity added to the bill. It's too loud and stinks of smoke. There are too many great places in Lodo to try...pass us this over-priced phoney piece of Miami's dark side. Pros: Good restaurants near Cons: Expensive, Bad service, Stinks more

Horrible Service! 3/10/2005

I went for happy hour and ordered a $7.00 glass of Red Zinfandel. The waitress came back and informed me they weren't carrying that wine anymore, but were replacing it with another Zin. I said that was fine. When the bill came, my wine was $12 a glass!! I told the waitress I was not paying $12 when I had ordered a $7 glass and she got the manager. The manager then proceeded to argue with me about how the glass I got was a much better wine! I told him I didn't really care that it was better I was expecting to pay $7 a glass and had not been told by the waitress that the ""substitution"" was more money - or I would have picked a different wine. He was very rude and snotty and I will not be going back there. more

Can you say MOJITO?!? 9/24/2004

While I didn't dine here, the bar is uber-funky and cool, and the drinks, while pricey, are OUTSTANDING. A bar that (finally) has something new to offer, without being a snob scene to me. The bartenders were likewise very friendly. I'LL BE BACK! Pros: FunkyUrban Atmospher, Excellent Mojitos, Friendly Bartenders Cons: , Parking a Challenge more

I LOVE THIS PLACE 5/6/2004

This place is AMAZING! Went there with the office the other day. Great apps, especially the calamari & the mango ribs. Don't pass up the mojitos. The layout works great for those off us who can do without the smoke. Turns out its a great place for a romantic dinner as well! Great Menu. My favorites are the Smoked Chicken with Caribbean Rice, with a most delicious red wine sauce, the Latin chopped salad and the Sauteed Shrimp & Chicken in a coconut concoction that has toasted cashews. Pros: Excellent Service, Great Variety, Valet Parking Cons: Not Open 24 hours, I Don't Own It, I Don't Live Closer more

Muy Caliente!!! 4/2/2004

I absolutely adore this restaurant! From appetizers to dessert, one would be hard pressed to find a better meal in Denver. The ambience is absolutely perfect, with latin/salsa music serenading you as you dine, and lush foliage surrounding the lower dining room. The mojitos are THE best drink to be found in Denver! Some might say a bit pricey, but SO well worth it....You must try the ""to die for"" Crab Cheese Dip appetizer! Absolutely wonderful! My plantain encrusted mahi-mahi was nothing short of brilliant and to top it off, a chocolate ancho-chili flourless cake that made the tastebuds tingle. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant! Pros: Wonderful Food, Great Atmosphere, Hip Crowd more

Limin' away! 8/23/2003

What a great place - every aspect of it was truly unique, especially for Denver! Great atmosphere, prompt service, and what a menu! Try the mojitos - they're a bit pricey, but good. Everything on the menu looked tasty and it was hard to pick just a few things to try. If you're going for dinner, try and secure a table upstairs. It's a little less busy and a little more intimate upstairs than down. We'll be back! more

Sambe Room RUles! 8/4/2003

i went there for drinks and appetizers and the service was awesome, the crowd was cool, and the food was to die for!!! more

overcooked 8/4/2003

What can I say - I have never experienced such a dissapointing meal. I was really looking forward to having dinner here with my girlfriends. It started with the server being upset that we didn't have a party of 10 (we had 7), he still was getting an 18% tip and didn't deserve it!!!! Then the meals are overpriced for there size and my beef tenderloin was overcooked. Getting water was a chore. The service was extremely slow. Don't plan on going anywhere after eating. The only good thing was the Mango Mojito. Pros: good mango mojito Cons: expensive, poor service more

Samba Room review 8/2/2003

I have been to the Samba Room on three seperate occasions and each time have been extremely pleased with the service and the food. By my third trip in, the door staff and the bartender recognized us and treated us as if we were friends. The cuisine is such a nice change from the typical steakhouses and italian joints all over Denver. The atmosphere does get crowded on the weekends, but that is part of the fun! The bar is always filled with beautiful people and if you opt for a more intimate experience you can ask for a seat in the upstairs dining, my favorite area. All in all, this place has become my sopt for a relaxing evening on the weeknights and a place to party on the weekends! Pros: portions are huge, friendly staff, capraihaina great! more

Explosive Flavor-Excellent Service 7/14/2003

What distinguished my dining experience at the Samba Room was the service. My waiter was of a quality that is rare in Denver. He expertly guiding me and my guest through the menu. Service was attentive without being overbearing. For my main course I chose the outstanding coconut chicken and shrimp dish. It was easily among the best I meals I have ever eaten. The atmosphere is energetic but not frantic. A good spot for a long conversational dinner. Pros: Service, Imaginative Food, noise level Cons: Can be crowded more

Samba for the mouth 3/13/2003

The Samba Room offers some great South American flavored dishes. Try the arepas and chicken skewers they're quite good. For your main course you must try the XinXim it's outstanding. This place is busy and at times quite crowded but it's a great place to squeeze in and order a pitcher of traditional mojitos with some friends. Pros: Good food, Great drinks, Attractive Crowd Cons: Crowded, Busy more
