Sam is the most dishonest man on earth!!! He charges for a project and then buys the cheapest most horrible products available. He enclosed my patio, and used doors that he bought from a second hand store, they didn't even match. Then he put generic hardy board on the outside of my house. All work was done "shoddy" at best. The people that gave him more than one star must have been paid by him. By the way, that was the only time I saw him, is when he wanted money. Don't pay him anything! You will be ripped off. He will subcontract that work to people that have no idea what their doing. Please follow the advice of all reviews. He needs to go to jail. There needs to be an option of zero stars. One star is giving him too much! more

He belongs in JAIL. At minimum, he should lose his license. I contracted with him back in 2009 and he was less than useless. For example, his plumbers used natural gas pipe fittings to install a shower faucet. Also, he tried to get me to change tubs because he didn't want to wait for the one I had ordered. I had to prove to him that the load on any other tub would be greater than the 2nd floor could hold. This is something he should KNOW and is dangerous. Plus, his subs were calling me for payment. I wish I had read these reviews before hiring Sam Gasaway. On September 6, 2013 I gave him half of the money which was $5000. Today is February 27, 2014 and he and his lousy sub-contractors (Ken Logan) have not been back since the week before Thanksgiving 2013. They left my kitchen unfinished and do not return phone calls. I made a total of $10,000 in payments. Doors and knobs are missing from the cabinets. The work is so shoddy and sub-pair that neither of them should be in business. Sam lied constantly. He always had an excuse for not showing up. The cabinets I do have are not cut properly, doors do not close properly, there are gaps between the doors, the drawers do not close completely. I paid $650 for a new cabinet and there are no shelves. My buffet was to have granite place on top and they never did place it there. The 2 cabinet doors on the buffet are about .5 inches apart so I have a gaping space. I could go on and on. Sam actually begged me to pay his workers right before Thanksgiving saying that he had to make a profit, did not have the money and that the workers would be back. Like a fool I gave him the balance of the money. No one ever came back. My kitchen is unfinished. I had to endure this during Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years. For the first time in my life I did not have a Christmas tree because my house was a mess. I would never recommend him. I am still stunned over the entire experience, out of a lot of money and I still need to have my kitchen cabinets re-finished. more

I would give a zero if I could. I agree with another rater that Sam Gasaway is a scam artist. He hires subcontractors who do not know what they are doing and he only shows up to pick up money. He was unreachable during our remodel, even when there were problems (and there were many problems.) Almost everything had to be done again because was done wrong the first time. Project extended twice as long as estimated. Also had subcontractors asking us to pay them directly because Sam had not/would not pay them for their work, even though we had paid for him already. And now we are having structural issues with the remodel that will cost thousands and thousands of dollars to repair. Hire someone else. more

Sam was hired in first week of september with a promise of beginning work in 4-6 weeks for refacing kitchen cabinets. After repeated phone calls work begin on 11/30/2012 and tool approximately 3 weeks to finish where as he had told us a week initially. He had asked for 50% advance in when contract was signed. Work was subpar and it took a lot of effort from I and my wife to get things completed to some what satisfactory condition. Only time we saw Sam was when he wanted money. He even tried to bully my mother in law for last payment as I was not at home. I will never hire him again. Cabinet installer he hired was a newbie and did not do a good job until I pointed out numersous mistakes which took him 5 tries to fix it. Sam should be really ashamed of himself for running a shady operation. Please try to not to be fooled by his southern charm as he runs around in circle and never answers anything truthfully. He should be blacklisted as a contractor. more

Sam and all his subcontractors do not know what they are doing. We hired Sam to reface our cabinets, which his price was half to one third of quality contractors; our fault to believe you can get quality at a good price. He lied every step of the way, his subcontractors supposedly have been doing the work for 25 years with him. The paint, quality of cut in the wood, installation, everything was subpar. We ended up going with Home Depot and the quality is there and they stand behind what they did. BEWARE BEWARE BEWARE!!!! I wish we would have googled him before we hired him. more

Contractors like Sam Gasaway are the kind you can only hope to find. Sam treats each person as a valued relationship, not as a customer. His professionalism and attention to detail are second to none. Sam takes away all the mystery and guesswork out of the project. Every home owner wants to feel like they have control over the work and Sam goes above and beyond to make sure your home is restored on your terms. I will be using Sam over and over again and would recommend them to anyone looking for an honest home contractor with excellent results. more

I purchased a foreclosure house not too long ago. The house needed A LOT of work done to it cabinets, floors, painting (inside and outside), bathrooms, fix all the holes in drywall, etc. (And that was just the start of the work) I spoke to Sam Gasaway to see what areas he can come estimate on and was surprised when he said that he could do all of that and more! Sam gave a few suggestions that I didn't even think of and was extremely fast on the estimate to me which was right in my budget. He was able to start the job within a week and the work that his guys did was absolutely FANTASTIC! I have more work to be done in my kitchen area and I can't wait to call Sam to come back. My friends and family loved all the work done to my house. I would HIGHLY recommend Sam Gasaway to everyone! more

Gave Sam money in July to do cabinets, December no work yet. Sam promised refund by end of year. No refund received. Court in Gwinnett today, Sam said he didn't live in Gwinnett and with the 'bad economy' hasn't had the money. We now have to file in Fulton county and start over. I'm retired, and partially disabled. The $2500 may not seem like much to some but to me, it's everything. I would NOT recommend this person under any circumstances. more

I am getting a porch added to my home . The work is being done by Mr. Gasaway. I must say this is about the worst remodeling experience I have had. The work was started almost a year ago, and it is still not completed. Mr. Gasaway has cleverly stalled the completion of the work,,by using his Southern charm. He continues to tell me he has abided by Decatur's building codes. more

I had Sam's crew gut my kiychen and rebuild everything. I was nervous throughout--wary of the "Southern charm", but he alwaysvreturned my calls promptly and assured me that things would be handled. The folks at Lowe's told me that generally everu contractor takes about twice as long as promised, and costs double the amount projected. There were costs beyond the original. Sam did not include many basics for the crew, including sandpaper and masks for fumes, lumber was short, and we had to supply$ to buy more. The total overage was not significant though. More disturbing is that some of the things promised were simply not delivered (sponge drawer, documentation for energy star door). I would NOT recommend Sam to anyone. I would refer friends to his workers, though. They were all top notch craftsmen. more

Do not use Sam Gasaway to remodel anything! He does not have quality subs and does not do quality work. If you don't mind throwing your money away or waiting months to get your remodel completed then go for it! Sam has to get a job to be able to complete the previous job. Not the type of contractor I would want doing my remodel! The contract stated the job would be done in 2 1/2 to 3 weeks and it took 5 months. The only reason Sam completed (and I do not mean warrantied to be high quality as indicated in the contract) the job is that I threatened to file a criminal lawsuit against him since he never gave me the fixtures I paid in full for ($1,869.00) in May and we were going on the end of September. During that 5 month period all of his subcontractors that he claimed had worked for him for 10 to 15 years had all quick doing work for him because he had not paid them. I had to have them tear out the travertine three times and it is still not level. I had to oversee all work because the only time you saw Sam Gasaway on the job was when he wanted a check. Do not let his Southern Charm fool you!!! His favorite phrase is "You are good people" and yes I agree I am a good person, too bad Sam Gasaway is not!!! more

We got Sam to cut us a deal on a full interior of house painting we're glad we did. Sam’s follow up and follow through were excellent. We had 4 rooms painted within 1 week of purchasing. Everything went and looks great. Sam was on time, super nice, explained everything, kept and left everything clean. We were very impressed. more

We purchased a 2 room deal and it was worth every penny. Sam was on time despite the distance, friendly, did a top notch job painting and was not only fast but very professional. I do appreciate that he cleaned up well after himself and was also respectful in our home. Our family is very pleased with the job done and are already discussing other things around the house that we will be hiring them for in the future. Don't hesitate to use this company, we will be recommending them to friends for sure. more

Do not give this man a deposit. He took our money and has not done one thing to our bathroom. Beware read all the reviews on him. Also has 5 court cases in Gwinnett against him and 9 complaints on BBB web site. more
