to sum up my experience at fanueil hall 6/11/2008

Service was moderately pleasant, as is everyone else at Fanueil Hall who wants your money. I thought the food was overpriced for what it was, and by no means a good measure the amazing seafood you can get in Boston. It wasn't until I woke up the next morning feeling not well at all that I really thought the food was overpriced. It could have been the apple I bought at Haymarket, but most likely it was the ""fresh"" flounder filet. Pros: outdoor seating Cons: very dirty restaurant, part of the ambiance but somehow it is not appetizing more

Dirty and Disgusting 6/3/2008

I started my meal with the clam chowder, which was just plain not good. There was very little flavor to it at all, besides potatoes. I sent it back after three bites. Next I got a half bucket of mussels. It was obvious the mussels had not been cleaned. They were dirty. The beards were not cleaned off. Six of my mussels were dead and unopened.\r \r I tried some of my friends' food, and all of it was bland, poorly made, and not something I would ever want to eat again.\r \r The final straw was when one of the people in my party went to the bathroom. She came back and would not touch the rest of her food because of how disgusting the bathrooms were. There was urine all over the floor, among other things. The bathroom is right next to the kitchen.\r \r The service was fine. The waitress got a little short with me when I sent back the clam chowder. Other than that, she seemed competent enough.\r \r Ultimately, I think this place should be shut down. It doesn't deserve to call itself a seafood restaurant in Boston. Pros: Service was quick Cons: Disgusting food, dirty, the clam chowder was the worst I've ever had. more

Very Good Spot 3/17/2008

Yummy Lobster Sandwich 7/15/2007

We were walking on the Freedom Trail and saw this place at Faneuil Hall. Great Location and Yummy Lobster sandwich. Good place to have lunch. The Clam Chowder was a little disappointing, but overall a good experience! Pros: Lobster Sandwich Cons: Clam Chowder more

Not Recommended 7/4/2006

If you do end up going there, don't order the clam chowder, tastes like it came from a can. Service was rude and the tables were all crammed into that little patio. more

Great old school place! 4/27/2006

This is great place. The food was super fresh, our server was very friendly/helpful and the people watching is probably the best in Boston! Pros: Great menu, staff, outdoor patio Cons: small inside more

AVOID THIS PLACE - SERVICE ATROCIOUS !! 10/17/2005

I am taken aback by the sheer rudeness of the waitstaff and managers at this dump. I asked for a substitution for my son who is allergic to nuts and oils of the same kind. The server rolld her eyes and grabbed the menu and told us she would ask the manager. The manager, a cocky jerk, came and explained in a loud tone that he would not be able to oblige and that we would have to pick another item. I asked him what he would recommend and he had the audacity to tell me o look at the menu and ""make a guess."" Needless to say we left. Whether you are from Boston or from a different country, I would STRONGLY recommend that you should LOOK ELSEWHERE. If you care about making every day of your trip special, don't take a chance. Cons: Service, Managers, Low ceilings more

RUDE EMPLOYEES RUIN THE EXPERIENCE 7/7/2003

My friend and I decided to try the restaurant this past 4th of July weekend. It was a hot day and decided to sit on the patio area since the inside is small and too hot to eat lunch. As the hostess took us to our table in the sun I politely asked if we could sit at at a table with shade. The restuarant was not busy during this time and there were plenty of tables with umbrellas. After a huff and puff, she threw our menus on the new table and stomped off. She proceeded to b*%^$ to her co-workers in front of us at which point my friend and I left. I spoke with the manager, but don't think it did any good. So basically if you don't mind being treated rudely and a manager who ignores the problem then enjoy! Pros: Nothing Cons: Rude employees more

Solid Brunch 1/19/2003

Right before my girlfriend and I left, we decided to stop into the Salty Dog for Sunday Brunch. We walked past the restaurant several times during our stay and got a kick out of its unusual name. Desperate for time and having a limited walking distance, we decided to give the Dog a shot. I'm happy to report that we weren't disappointed! The clam chowder was superb and my salad was solid. My girlfriend loved the chowder as well. Service was impeccable as we were waited upon by a nice college student. Decor is too Gorton's Fisherman but the overall experience was very good. Pros: Food, Inexpensive, Service Cons: Kitschy decor, Very small more

Sunny delight! 7/23/2002

I sat out on their patio and listened to the local folk group play in the square. It is near all of the shops in Fanial Hall. The food was really really good. Good sandwiches, seafood, oysters and yummy local beers like Geary's. more
