Best Movies Shown Here! 5/2/2008

This is my favorite theater in Austin. It shows foreign and artsy films that the mainstream theaters do not show. It is easy to get to and park and there are great restaurants within walking distance. The only problem I have with this theater is that the lobby can get noisy and the staff sometimes forgets to close the doors to the theater when the movie starts, but anyone with two legs and gumption can get up and close the door themselves. This theater and its staff are smaller and more intimate than other larger mega-plex type theaters. The staff even knows my name and my order at the concession stand. Brenda is always at the ticket gate with a cheerful greeting to, "Enjoy the show!" Thanks Brenda, I always do! Pros: Best Movies Shown Here! Smaller more intimate theater w/ friendly attentive staff. Cons: The lobby can sometimes be noisy and disruptive to the movies that are showing. more

Good News, Bad News 4/30/2008

Good News: Shows a lot of foreign films that Austin probably wouldn't get otherwise. Clean theaters with good seats, good sound, reliable projection and plenty of attentive staff (rarely do you see a skeleton crew running everything, like at other theaters). Bad News: My rating would be higher if it weren't for the absolutely unbearable, numerous and lengthy advertisements before the show. I often have to leave the theater until the ads are over. I know other theaters have ads too, but here they are especially hard to endure. more
