Sakura Japanese Restaurant

First of all I am offended as japanese that you are so stupid in inbread that you can not tell the difference between a japanese and a chinese . The owners of sakura in bristol are chinese. The name just happens to be coincidence.Next you inbred hillbilly, Since they are chinese there is no chance what so ever that someone in JAPAN is using your card.that is something you shoudl talk to you credit card company about.you racist moron. I see you blasting this restaraunt on all types of dfferent review sites. YOU need to be a man and apologize to them in person.If you are going to slam a culture you better take responsibility. Is really disappointed in the customer service of this restaurant and will never take my family here to eat again. It is so very sad that this location does not take care of their customers. =( more

I have been eating at Sakura's for years, and driving an hour to do so. Now that I live in Jacksonville, I am able to enjoy their great sushi anytime I get a craving. I have only sat on the hibachi side of the restaurant once, but I definitely enjoyed the show the chef's put on when I did. I go for their top notch sushi. The Dragonfly Roll is to DIE for. It is absolutely amazing. I have almost tried every roll on the menu and I haven't came across one I haven't enjoyed. The Jaguar Roll and Paul Roll are very good as well. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Definitely go check this place out, you'll be glad you did!!! more

My husband and I stumbled upon this place one night. We originally were going to another Japanese restaurant on Blanding but they were closed on Mondays so we ended up on San Jose at Sakura. The outside scenery is beautiful and well maintained, you get the Asian atmosphere before you even step inside. The pond is large with a water fountain and big koi fish. We were seated by the large windows over looking the pond which made a great view not only while conversing prior to being served but as well as the cook doing his performance. The food was excellent! One of the best Japanese restaurants I've ever dined at by far. The only disappointment I had was the selection of salad dressing **no ranch** it's only mayo or ginger, which isn't bad but if you're a picky salad eater like myself- you just have to have ranch dressing... I recommend bringing a small bottle with you <>. I really recommend this establishment, it's great! And boy am I glad the other restaraunt we intended on going was closed on Monday's or else we would have never found this place! This Japanese Steakhouse is by far the best in Jacksonville. They have the best fried rice I have ever eaten, as well as top class sushi, steak, shrimp, scallops, and well just about everything! It is family owned, so it's not a chain, but don't let that fool you, it has a very nice atmosphere and the food is truly one of a kind! I love this place, and you should to! I also had a bad experience with management after they made a ""mistake"" by charging my CC twice for two entirely different amounts. Strange, huh?! I disputed it with my CC company and eventually got it resolved - with no cooperation at all on their part. Absolutely terrible experience and I will NEVER eat there again! I just read the other review about the credit card fraud and don't know what that's all about. Honestly it sounds like an isolated incident and a held grudge because I highly doubt this restaurant has been in business as long as it has with blatantly illegal practices. Restaurant reviews in general are negative because only the people with bad experiences feel the need to voice their opinions out loud, so I want to speak on behalf of the positive. My husband and I ate at this restaurant on December 26, 2007. We ordered two meals which came to a total of 36.86. When I gave the waitress my Visa checkcard to pay for the meal she returned with two receipts, one in the amount of 56.00 and one in the amount of 36.86 and explained that the 56.00 was a mistake and would never be deducted from my account. I checked with the owner to make sure that she was correct and paid the other bill in the amount of 36.86 to which I added a tip totaling 40.00. When I came home from the restaurant I still felt uneasy about the situation so I went online and checked my bank account to find that they had billed me twice, once for 68.00 and again for 43.00. Neither of these amounts were ever authorized by me and I never received receipts in those amounts. I called the restaurant right away, as it was after hours by the time we got home, and spoke to the owner, Bruce, who denies that he charged my card for either amount despite me having proof from my bank. He also explained that they automatically add 20 percent to your check without your permission for gratuity. I checked the menu and every sign in the restaurant, none of them disclose a 20 percent gratuity, only 16 percent which they only state will be charged to parties of 8 or more. Neither of the receipts that I saw included this gratuity and the only receipt that I signed and authorized to be charged was for 40.00. I went to my bank the next day and spoke with a manager who explained to me that it is illegal for them to add that to your bill without your consent and signature and that it is considered electronic fraud. This issue still hasn't been resolved by the owner, so be careful when you go this restaurant, they WILL rip you off! Pros: Good food, used to eat here alot.
