Came here on a date with my girl and I have to say this is my new go to spot. The decor is really cool and the people are all looking real good. The sake and the vibe was amazing and to top it all off my girl (who is tough on spots) LOVED IT! \r \r Great place Pros: great date spot, cool location Cons: none more

great tucked away east village sake bar with great food. if you want to avoid general bridge and tunnel, cross ave b on 7th. just dont tell anyone else so we can keep it to ourselves. chef cooks up great specials, the tuna burger is to die for. go before midnight and be cozy or if your looking to party go past 12. fun!@ Pros: cozy, non pretentious local Cons: wish it was bigger more

Great as always... 12/9/2009

Been going to this tiny place for ages. The only reason I felt like writing is cause after reading the last review felt the urge to let people know this place is as good as always been if not better. super nice staff, friendly crowd, amazing food and very large selection of sake. what else do you expect people?? you will find good conversations and the best vibe in the east village trust me!!! Pros: Atmosphere, drinks, food, vibe, people more

loud, way overpriced and the bartender was SO rude!!! Dunno why we nicely asked to try a sake and he was rude about it. Foods good but way overpriced. I can tell all of those reviews were written by the owners more

Thje Best Bar in the East Village!~!! Bar None!!! 3/4/2008

This is by far the best bar in the East Village. Go there once, and the bartenders will all know your name! The crowd during the week are real East Villagers and I have gotten to know lots of people just by sitting at the bar. The people are great, the vibe is the best The bartenders are the best! The food is really good, especially the shrimp dumplings and the spicy tuna soy roll.\r I have been coming to this place for years and it has only gotten better! Satsko is such a wonderful hostess and makes everyone feel welcome! It is her good vibes that carry this place and my only regret is she is not there often enough (now that her new place has opened)\r Go to Satsko's, you won't regret it! Pros: This is such a cool place!!!! Cons: There are none!~ more

Avoid It! 9/8/2007

I can't believe this place is still around! With the smarmy service and unoriginal menu, it's surprising - at least the new place is a little bit better - but just a little bit. more

great for first time sake drinkers! 8/18/2007

Great amotsphere! Small and very open to anyone who is a regualr and 1st timers great service (good looking on the drink tips Warren) didnt get to taste the food but they were kind enough to give us the # to a pizza spot and had it delivered to our table talk about making the customer feel at home very trendy and a def. place to sake bomb yourself away more

Great Discovery! 4/6/2007

Such a great feeling to still find places in thg EV where people care about details without crossing the line, good music, good food, nice sake repertoir, and a very funny crowd. Good prices considering the vast variety of food and drinks the space has to offer. My boyfrined and I can't wait to go back to that friendly cozy oasis. One great discovery at last!! Pros: crowd and service more

Obnoxious crowd in cosy setting 3/21/2007

This was my favourite bar when I moved to New York a couple of years ago - cosy, warm, reasonably prices, good food and funky music. But the vibe has completely changed since the owner decided to employ barmen with an obnoxious set of college kid friends who have turned the small bar into a frat party. It's now impossible to make oneself heard over the shrill screams of ""shots! shots!"", the banging of pints of beer against the counter and the irritating cock-rock blaring out of the stereo. What a shame... used to be such a great place. I gave it a few chances but each time it was the same annoying drill. I've stopped going now, and so have my friends. Pros: cosy set-up Cons: shame about the new staff and the clients! more

Huh?? 2/16/2007

OK, dearling. \r \r You've got your response- not from a new regular, but from one that has been frequenting Satskos for over two years. First off. let me say that I think you need a hug and apparently a reach around from Satsko herself. In two years I've NEVER seen underage drinkers in Satskos. The customers in Satsko's, for the most part, live on 7th St., work in the city and have lived in the neighborhood for more than two or three years. Most of them working proffesionals, artists, and the like. Now, admittedly on weekends you're gonna get some of the same bridge and tunnel crowd that you'll get at ANY OTHER EAST VILLAGE BAR NOWADAYS. The great thing about Satskos is that you can grab a great bite of food early in the evening and let it all hang out by the end of it. I understand why people come in on the weekends for birthday parties, etc... More power to them. Personally, I've rarely seen Satsko the past few months as her success at Satskos has allowed her to open another restaurant, but when I do she always gives me a big hug. Did you ever think that maybe she just doesn't like you? I don't usually write these things but I think that your review is totally unjustified and I don't like my great local bar trashed undeservedly. Pros: Great Crowd, Ambience Cons: Bit cramped, slow service when crowded more

I agree - 1/6/2007

I have to say I completely agree with this ""ddonner"" character. Satsko is indeed an unfriendly, unwelcoming place to be. I noticed that the owner titled her response as ""Business Establishment vs Clubhouse"" - that's funny, because I know what a business establishment looks like, and she's definitely not running one. It's NOW a clubhouse of underage kids that once catered to, and embodied the eccentricity of the East Village, but no more. And if you can't say a quick ""hello"" to a regular as he or she pops their head in on their way home from work, then it's time to re-examine what it means to be a business owner - it's about fostering relationships with people, and not the almighty dollar. But nice try, Satsko, you almost convinced us you know how to run a bar. Now go ahead, and have your new ""regulars"" dispute this truth. Pros: not going Cons: going more

Are you looking for your Cheers? 9/14/2006

I went to Satsko's for the first time a few weeks ago and then returned last night. Amazing! The bartender remembered my name! Just like Cheers! The sake selection is extensive and if you ask they will do a sake tasting for you. I went last Sunday and last night and they have a new cook named Joan. In between orders she dances with the bartender, chats with the customers, and she and the bartender make for a really great time. The food is amazing and her specials are sooo good! The gyoza are great and the spicy tuna soy rolls are totally delicious. Last night I had the fresh squid with scallions and ginger and could not eat enough!!!!!! I ordered so much food that she packed some of it so I could take it home. Order any of her specials, they are fresh and light and really tasty. She told me they make everything from scratch, the Miso soup, and all of the gyoza. I could tell that much effort and love had gone into the food. Later in the evening a DJ came and it became one big party. Go for dinner, go for sake, or go to hang out and meet people, just go to Satsko's. You can't go wrong. Pros: great food, great choice of sake more
