Tasty food, great prices 1/7/2011

Fast service, delicious food and excellent prices. We've been eating at Saigon for about eight years, and highly recommend it if you enjoy Vietnamese food. The service is very prompt. Our food usually comes within minutes of ordering and it's delicious. The waitresses are friendly. And lunch for two is usually around $15. Newbie advice: It's very busy during the lunch rush hour, so get there early. The decor isn't the finest, but it's the food you'll be eating! Fish sauce may not smell great, but it's so so tasty. Not a big Pho (pronounced fawh) fan? Try the char-grilled shrimp and beef over rice, stir fried white onion noodle with chicken or lemon grass chicken over rice (spicy). The Vietnamese spring rolls are also delicious. more

delicious pho 8/24/2010

If you don't mind the simple decorations and want delicious pho then this is a perfect place to go. I've had my share of pho and the broth of the soup can make or break it and this place delivers. more

Great Pho 8/25/2008

We found Saigon Pho on a cell phone when the pho craving struck. Pros: Excellent food, low price, excellent service Cons: A little outdated more

Bad food... 7/20/2008

When my husband & I first moved to the area from CA we were trying to find a good pho place. Well, we first found this place & the food was terrible. It was the worst pho we ever tasted and service wasn't that great either. We didn't try the other dishes but after tasting that pho we never went back. I thought it was an authentic Vietnamese place by the name Saigon Pho but it was nothing close to being authentic. If you want to try a good pho & spring rolls check out Mesa Pho. It's the best place we found so far and they also serve good Vietnamese beef stew. Pros: Not much to say Cons: Bad food & service more

Below average Vietnamese food 10/12/2007

well, i like to try new places, especially vietnamese food because my favorite place isn't very close to my house, so after reading the reviews on citysearch i decided to check out saigon pho. i'll keep it simple, i ordered spring rolls with shrimp and beef, and rice vermacelli with pork and shrimp, the spring rolls had iceberg lettuce, a few shrimp, and i didn't taste or see any beef, i really had to force them down to be honest, they also were not served with the traditional peanut sauce. the rice vermacelli was average i guess, the pieces of pork were big but not very tender or flavorful, the shrimp still had the tails on them which made the dish difficult to eat, and there weren't a lot of extras other than lettuce (there's usually some cucumbers or other vegetables). my biggest complaint was that some of the rice noodles were not fully cooked and i actually found a sizable portion of them that were still stuck together, yuck. also, one of my pork pieces still had a bone in it. last but not least, it took the server about 5 minutes to realize i was done and give me my check. fortunately it was only 10 bucks, but i will never be back, best pho in town is still on apache in tempe. Pros: average price Cons: below average food, below average service more

Great Vietnamese food, delicious and refreshing at more than reasonable bargain prices! 9/10/2007

What a wonderful experience as well as wonderful food. My wife was not in the mood for soup so we skipped the pho and had their special fried chicken (take note colonel, this is the way to do fried chicken!) Pros: food, portions, prices, service, easy parking. Cons: ambience, but who cares when the food is this good. more

Great Pho 6/7/2006

I have been to Vietnam and sampled the local Pho-- this is about as good as I have had since! The atmosphere is bit dated to say the least, but the food is worth staring at the mauve decor. The portions were HUGE and we had fresh rolls for an appetizer. I would definitely go again next time I'm in the mood for some PHO and to sample other menu items. Very reasonable prices as well, two of us ate for $15!! Pros: Food Cons: Ambiance more

Superb Location. Good Menu. Good Food. Bad Decor. 11/3/2005

This is a seafood Vietnamese restaurant. Larger selection of dishes compared to other Vietnamese restaurants in the Valley. Service is good. Plus, their Vietnamese beef noodle soups have a different flavor compared to other restaurants so try it out if you are in the area. Good location with lots of parking. The one major negative about this restaurant is that it does not have the look and feel of a Vietnamese restaurant. The decor looks more like a diner in the sitcom ""Alice"" or like a Dennys restaurant. Elevator music is played over the loudspeaker. Pros: Location, Menu, Food Cons: Atmosphere more

Viet Thai? 9/27/2004

This was on my list of Thai restaurants to visit, although I was somewhat skeptical about a Thai restaurant with a Vietnamese name. Turns out, they are listed incorrectly under Thai food. Saigon Pho is a Vietnamese Seafood restaurant, and a pretty good one, at that. I don't know that it will be one of my new haunts, but it was a good lunch. Pros: Not Thai Food more
