I recently bought a home and called a few different Chimney companies for estimates on work. I need major repairs as well as cleaning work done. Safeside not only gave me the most competitve price but they did an amazing job. The finished ahead of schedule and their employees were friendly and professional. I was extremely pleased with the entire process and will continue to use them yearly for cleaning and upkeep. more

EXCELLENT SERVICE 3/29/2011

I am always pleased when I have my chimney serviced by SAFESIDE. The workers are completely professional and courteous. This time I had my air ducts cleaned as well as my Chimney. I thought it would leave a mess but the guys cleaned everything up. I wouldn't have even known they were there. Also, the price was lower than I expected! more

OMG I have never been so motivated to tell the world what horrible people work for this company. I feel compelled to share my story so that what happened to me does not happen to others, All I needed was to have my chimney cleaned but they came with a bill of good and i feel that if you need chimney services in the Fairfield, Stamford, East Hartford, Norwalk, Greenwich or Bridgeport area you really should find someone else! more

3 Hours Wasted 9/22/2010

I have a high chimney and in order to be sure, I asked the representative if she needed a description while I was setting up the appointment. She assured me that the "technicians" traveled with everything they needed. Sure enough, after waiting 3 hours, the technician showed up without a 40 foot ladder. I usually only use companies that are referred to me by friends for this type of work, but I received a mailing with a coupon for Safeside and figured I would give them a try. 3 wasted hours later, I am reminded of why I dont use companies like this. Hope this saves you some frustration. more

Great Expirience!!!!!! 2/20/2010

I have used Safeside several times and I was very pleased with their services. They repaired the chimney for the sale of my first home and they inspected, clean and repaired the chimney of my new home. I referred them to my family and friends and they were very happy with them as well. Pros: Reliable and knowledgeable Cons: None more

Not a happy customer 12/19/2009

We were supposed to have a pellet stove installed. They did not show up in the time frame they stated and did not call. After I called to find out their whereabouts I was promised they would come the next day. Well the next day came and went and still no show. When I called again they promised to make it the following week....I don't think I will wait to find out - I am going to find another company to install our stove instead. more

NOT RELIABLE 11/26/2009

CALLED TO HAVE MY CHIMNEY CLEANED ON A SATURDAY AND WAS TOLD THEY WOULD BE THERE BETWEEN 8-10 AM TUESDAY I WAITED AND THEN HAD SOMEONE SIT AND WAIT FOR THEM AS I WENT OFF TO SCHOOL. mY SITTER WENT TO WORK AT 2PM AND TOLD ME NO ONE SHOWED I CALLED THEM AND THEY SAID THEY DID NOT EVEN HAVE MY NAME ON THE LIST SO AFTER I GOT HOME AND GOTTEN A CALL FROM THEM THAT I WAS ON THE LIST FOR THE NEXT MONTH AND THEY WOULD BE THERE THEN AND OF COURSE THE WERE A NO SHOW AGAIN NOT EVEN A CALL I WOULD NEVER CALL THEM AGAIN OR EXCEPT ANY SERVICE FROM THEM EVEN IF IT WAS FREE DO NOT TRUST THEM ONLY GAVE A ONE STAR BECAUSEI HAVE TO TO GET THIS PUBLISHED Pros: UNKNOWN TO ME Cons: NEVER SHOW UP more

Very happy with the servicemen that came over ... I don`t know much about chimneys but they made me feel at ease and answered all my questions. My husband , who is usually critical of contractors , inspected their work and was very happy with it. We will use them again more

UNRELIABLE!! Will cancel on you over and over again... 7/17/2009

We had them clean our chimney...which they did fine, but showed up an hour early...for me early is better than late but they give you a window for a reason, they rang our doorbell at 8am. \r Next we put a deposit down to have our air ducts cleaned and set up an appointment for a Friday. My husband took off of work and they called us at 10am the day of our appointment to cancel. We gave them the benefit of doubt and rescheduled for the following Friday...they called and confirmed the night before and low and behold the day of our appointment they called 30 minutes before they were supposed to show up and canceled AGAIN! Of course we asked for our deposit back and will definitely not use them ever again. My husband missed work because of these people...don't know how they run a business this way. more

Great Service from Safeside Chimney 6/24/2009

Great Service ! Talented masons rebuilt our ugly white painted chimney. Very happy . We just bought this home and have tons of other work to do but the chimney was an eyesore , safesides crew transformed the look of our home .....I only wish they did other work besides chimney ....we have a list! more

I Don't Recommnd 11/4/2008

I had almost the same experience as Sarah A, but I wasn't notified of the first schedule change until I called after waiting for them to come. They had me down for the wrong day. We had to schedule another appointment a week later to finish the job, and once again they did not show. No call, no show. When I called them on it, the supervisor was somewhat abrupt. I told them not to come back. more

Safeside Chimney Not recommended 10/21/2008

We purchased a pellet stove insert. It finally arrived a few weeks later. They put the stove in and were ready to leave. I asked how it operated since I never owned one. Come to find out, there was no control panel. Didn't get one until two months later. At the end of heating season I got an overheat display. They told me how to reset and was okay for a few more weeks. I started it up a week ago and really didn't seem to push out much heat. I was very disappointed in the Flame stove. I called a different business to have it cleaned properly. I thought that was the problem. Turns out they did a very poor job of installing and ended up costing me a lot more to get all their problem fixed. Turns out one of the blower fans seized up. That was under warranty.\r So the bottom line is, the work wasn't done properly. Go somewhere else if you wan't any kind of chimney or stove work done. more

Would not recommend 9/29/2008

I actually have no idea if this company actaully does a good job or not since after rescheduling on me 4 times--all at the last minute- after my husband and I had taken time off of work to be home I went with another company. They clearly do not care about customer service. As I said all cancellations were last minute ones and when I asked for speedier rebookings the response was always that it was going to be several weeks before we could rebook. There were never any apologies or quick phone returns. They may do good work but they do not have good customer service. more

Not Recommended 11/19/2007

These guys seem to know what they are doing, but I still do not recommend them. I think they have become too popular and too busy for their own good, and as a result they do not really seem to care about their customers. They kept me waiting for several weeks before coming out to give me an estimate, and when they did it was outrageously expensive (over $2500 for a sweep and new liner installation). My advice is, find a smaller chimney company that will care more about your needs. more

No Soot 11/6/2005

Chimney sweeping can appear to be a very ordinary job, but done incorrectly it can lead to a real mess in your home. Not true with Safeside. They were very neat while in our home and they cleaned our chimney so there was no danger of a fire. We called them when we thought we needed an inspection due to possible birds and they spent some time on the phone asking questions and determined that an inspection was not necessary. This saved us a house call for no service. This alone insures we will be a repeat customer. more
